Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!

Chapter 118: Prelude To The Battle

The second realm pill was made for the Foundation Establishment realm specifically, called the Earth Wave Pill, a sub-Foundation Building Pill that specifically helped with the opening of the Sea of Consciousness during breakthrough from the first realm to the second realm.

Usually, items or pills that helped in any major realm breakthrough were highly sought after, so something like this shouldn't have been sold on a common stall for common prices were it not for the fact that it only partially helped with the breakthrough.

Even then, there would still be a huge market for this in the lower regions with sparser spiritual energy and resources, where the power cap was the peak of the Qi Path. For example, Li Ling's own cultivation family where he came from would certainly have paid a high price for this pill if crafted successfully, for that was a chance to push the old ancestor—his grandfather—to the Foundation Establishment realm.

After attempting the second realm level of crafting, Li Ling had to admit that power still played a role. His spirit sense range was too strong in terms of his loose spirit sense, allowing him to easily deal with everything in range, but his concentrated spirit sense of 100 meters was a whole different ballgame.

With that, he could easily note the state of all the herbs and reagents in an in-depth manner, like using a microscope for a task that only needed a magnifying glass. His Perfected Spirit Sense Control, while not used for the actual alchemic process—as it used its own hand seals and method of telekinetic manipulation—played a strong role in making the control of the reagents within the cauldron easier through the Grade 2 Spirit Soil.

Li Ling was akin to someone who raced Formula 1 cars being asked to take part in street racing. While he wasn't able to instantly understand and master the nitty-gritties, his various accumulated abilities and advantages compounded to make him seem like an emerging talent, when he knew it was just stacking abilities together to brute-force success.

Take all of these away from him, and he would not even pass the first step.

However, Li Ling did not bother himself with such childish preconceptions, as such a train of thought would only make him become stupid and whiny. To declare something or someone incapable without their present advantages in an area was the fastest way to be drowned by the deadly sin of envy.

Rather, he continued to practice alchemy over the next few days, up until it was finally time to face off against Hall Master Shen Taixu. At the height of noon, Li Ling finally came out of his practice chamber to find Kong Beiwu and Luo Roumei waiting for him outside, their expressions slightly fatigued.

Pursuant to his decree, they had continually copulated over the past few days until Luo Roumei could be confirmed to be pregnant. However, putting aside the obvious racial differences, there was also the ever-present fact that cultivators had a harder time conceiving offspring due to the increment in life level after breakthrough.

First realm practitioners were mostly okay, being almost no different from enhanced superhumans, so whether it was Mortal Flesh or Qi Refinement, they could usually conceive at the same rate as a mortal couple, with a slight reduction in percentage.

However, the moment one ascends to the second realm, this chance is slashed in half right from the get-go!

And for every major realm after that, the chance was further reduced by half until it became decimal points, where one might have to try a million times with different partners to miraculously conceive one child.

So the two had been at it, Kong Beiwu persisting using his enhanced physical nature as a Peak Mortal Flesh cultivator and Luo Roumei persisting with her second realm cultivation giving her an advantage in recovery. However, looking at them, it was more likely they would copulate to death before success occurred.

Seeing this, Li Ling paused and then rubbed his chin. With a point of his finger, he first cast the Restoration Spell on the duo, causing their bloodshot eyes and weak postures to straighten as energy filled their bodies and healed the unseen damages to their sexual organs.

Switching fingers, Li Ling then released a pink light that struck the genitals of the duo, causing their pleasantly surprised expressions after being restored to change greatly, becoming ones of slight intoxication.

"Get to it." Li Ling commanded, pointing to the bedroom, but he might as well have not said anything as the duo rushed into the room while clawing at each other's clothing.

While there were present ways to resolve infertility like the products from the Boundless Joy Sect, Li Ling did not see the need to go so far when his Yin-Yang Reversal Art had a guaranteed conception feature. Inasmuch as the feature was for himself only, he could also pass it onto others for a short period when he used his third sub-ability of this unique immortal art.

He hadn't used it before because he wanted to see if the duo had some sexual compatibility, because he planned to raise his own breeding farm and might not always be there to fire a pink beam of instant horniness to make success guaranteed. If they could conceive reliably on their own, he could be a hands-off manager and let his stocks grow, but if not, then he would have to step in frequently.

He put the two out of mind for now and stepped out of his courtyard, instantly noting with both his eyes and his spirit sense that many presences reacted to his emergence. It seemed as if many fellows were keeping an eye on him, which was to be expected.

It was one thing to master second realm daoist arts and face off in a genius battle against a peer from a different hall, but another to be challenged by a Hall Master who was one realm higher in both cultivation disciplines. If the former was the breakout of a new genius, then the latter was an explosive matter, which could either be seen as suppression of talent by authority or rebellion against authority by the younger generation, depending on who won, of course.

On his way, Li Ling found that much of the outpost was sparsely populated, the few who were out having to be there due to their tasks or jobs, all of whom had sullen expressions, regretting taking on these inescapable tasks that prevented them from watching the fun.

When he arrived at the dueling rings, Li Ling idly wondered if he should teleport in, because the line to enter was truly horrific. Despite his thoughts, his actions were direct as he manifested his aura and used it to bash away people standing in his way, forcefully clearing a path for himself.

Naturally, those who were knocked out of the way bared their teeth in fury, about to retaliate when they saw that the offender was one of the main stars of today's show, which caused them to rather become excited.

After all, many figured that this guy would run and not dare show. There were plenty of cases in Tian Ming Continent's history where one genius one realm lower had defeated another genius or powerhouse with realm advantage, with the recent Heavenly Mandate Dao Child being a good example of this.

Because of this, not everyone was in a rush to write Li Ling off, but it was one thing for the rational mind to know, and another for the emotional mind to accept. Despite knowing that given what he had shown previously, he could have a chance to pull this off, it was just seriously hard to believe he could triumph over a Hall Master.

Li Ling soon crossed the gates and entered under the watchful eyes of two Path Lords of the Divine Deva Hall, who gave him cold and unfriendly looks. No matter how they might personally feel about their Hall Master in private, it was a fact that challenging him publicly had made them lose great face, and as the admins of the sect, the Divine Deva Hall cared about its face to an insane degree.

Coming into the stage, Li Ling noted that those who were seated in the back row, near the edge of the dueling ring, were the Path Lords of great renown, most of them either at the late stage of the second realm or more likely at the peak, many even being of the 'elder' path in terms of possessing stations in the Hall's various managerial positions.

In the front row were actually figures that one would struggle to see on a normal day—the Path Ascenders and the various third realm powerhouses like the deputy Hall Masters of each hall! The Hall Masters themselves were seated at the frontmost row, but were still relegated to spectators in this affair.

Rather, it was the person seated on high over the ring—where the referee was usually placed—who captured everyone's attention due to one reason.

They were a Core Disciple!
