My Dragon King System

Chapter 163: GGG: A Win for Mastery and Experience

Elena's breathing was slowing straining as she was downright at her limit.

From the stands, Aiden leaned forward. "Use it, Elena," he whispered. He really did not want to see her go down like this.

Elena closed her eyes, and then slowly, mana began to flow back into her.

Thamoryn, who was just about to raise her hand to declare Fractured Stars the winner, paused. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she watched both mages.

"She can use the Mystic Field?" Thamoryn muttered in disbelief.

Slowly and steadily, her stance straightened again, and her strength returned with her grip on her staff much firm.

Ambrose's eyes widened. "What? Where is that mana coming from?"

The Ravens Grave section erupted into cheers.

"Yes! Elena!"

"That's our Elena!" Another voice yelled in excitement.

Even Elian, seated with the Grey Demons, glanced up for the first time during the entire tournament.

His eyes lingered on Elena for a moment before he looked away.

Aiden now had smile on his face as he watched. Elena's major problem was a lack of mana which is why he made it a point of duty to teach her the mystic field.

To use this technique, a mage had to extend their consciousness into the surroundings and take control of the mana in the environment, commanding it as if it was the same in your body.

Although at the moment, it was incomplete for Elena, and her range was limited to just the space between her and Ambrose.

Additionally she also couldn't maintain it for long. Right now, it was only for about five minutes, but that amount of time was going to be enough.

Ambrose gritted his teeth. He kept the mana steal active, but it didn't matter, because for every drop of mana he stole from her, the Mystic Field replenished it instantly.

And so He changed tactics. "Theft Magic: Sight snatch."

Elena's vision went black at that momenr

Ambrose grinned. "Let's see you fight blind."

But before he could savor his victory, multiple water spheres materialized around him without warning, slamming into him from every direction.

Elena then said in a whisper, "I can still see you very clearly."

Mages could naturally sense mana, whether in others or the environment, and within her mystic field, her mana sensory was heightened to extraordinary levels.

There was almost no need for sight within the field when one could still detect the presence of a target through mana sensory.

The water spheres had overwhelmed him with enough force to send him stumbling.

He slowly staggered back up as the pain experienced from the attack was snatched away from his body using his theft magic.

"Hm…" Elena muttered, she couldn't see him but somehow she could tell that her attack still wasn't enough to put him down.

Ambrose grinned through the pain, moving his hand forward to cast another spell. "you little wen—"

But the moment Elena heard his voice, without letting him finish, she snapped her fingers and casted the king level spell. "Nightcall."

Ambrose's eyes rolled back, and he collapsed to the ground. The spell had had sent him to sleep.

His theft magic effect on her wore off as he was no longer conscious to maintain it and so her sight returned.

There was this brief second of Silence before the crowd exploded.

Thamoryn stood and walked towards them to confirm that Ambrose was still alright. Once she did, she raised her hand and declared, "Ravens Grave wins."

Elena had won due to her superior mastery of supplementary magic and battle experience.

The Ravens Grave team rushed forward as Elena walked back towards them.

"That was incredible!" Arianna said, hugging her tightly.

"You were amazing," Laela added, with a beaming a smile on her face.

Even Kayden nodded with a faint smile on his face . "Well fought."

With that, they had gotten back at Ambrose.

Katherine watching from a distance also had that smile of approval on her face. "You did well, Elena."

Cassian sitting around the same corner had a sour expression. He was pretty much disappointed with Ambrose's performance.

The other members of Fractured Stars looked equally disappointed. Talen simply stood and walked away from the stands without a word, with the three teammates following silently behind him.

This battle had automatically put ravens grave in the finals.

Thamoryn's voice then echoed across the field once more.

"The next match," she announced, "Grey Demons versus Starry Maidens."

Elian was just about to step out once more to represent the guild

But before he could take more than a step, a hand clamped down on his shoulder.

"Hey, we'll save the best for last, Elian,"

Gregory said with a grin on his face. He was a hairy man, broad-shouldered and thick with muscle.

Elian glanced at him with those perpetually lazy eyes, then simply shrugged and took a step back without protest.

Gregory cracked his knuckles and stepped forward, rolling his shoulders as he walked toward the center of the arena.

From the Starry Maidens' side, Ilyna rose once more. She had already fought once today and won, but there was no exhaustion in her posture.

Thamoryn raised her hand, casting the protection spell on them before saying, "Combatants, take your positions."

Thamoryn's hand dropped. "Begin!"

Gregory moved first.

His body rippled, and a surge of mana erupted through him. His muscles bulged and his frame grew larger, and coarse fur sprouted across his skin.

His face elongated, his teeth sharpened into fangs, and his hands became clawed. Within seconds, he had transformed into a massive werewolf-like beast, towering over Ilyna at about 8 feet.

His transformation tore through the top half of his uniform, leaving his torso bare and covered in thick, dark fur.

This was Gregory's Werebeast Magic.

The crowd gasped, some leaning forward in their seats as they watched in anticipation.

Ilyna didn't flinch however.

She slammed her staff into the ground, and the earth beneath Gregory's feet erupted. Jagged spikes of stone shot upward, aiming to impale him.

But Gregory was fast. He leapt backward with inhuman agility, as his claws dug into the ground when he landed in a crouched position.

Then he lunged forward again, closing the distance between them in a heartbeat.
