My Dragon King System

Chapter 196: Forsaken Continent Arc: THE END

"Samael blamed the humans for the Oldest One's disappearance," Cronyssia said with a grim expression.

Keyles let out a snort, with his voice carrying amusement as he spoke. "I always said Samael had abandonment issues."

Veyqorin laughed outright at that, with the sound of his laugher echoingthrough the darkness of Aiden's subconscious, while Cronyssia pressed her lips together as if trying to hold back her own laughter.

Thyrak simply shook his head with what might have been disapproval or perhaps resignation.

Cronyssia then composed herself and continued.

"The first thing Samael did was try to disrupt the peace the first men had among themselves, and to do that he slept with Adam's wife, Lilith."

"This caused a major rift between them, and Adam reacted by taking drastic measures. He imprisoned her at the very edge of the universe."

Aiden's eyes widened slightly at that revelation.

"What Samael did had broken the only rule the Oldest One had ever given," Cronyssia added. "Non-interference with the humans He created."

She paused briefly and continued. "After that Samael returned to the First Firmament, which is where their kind as angels reside, but Michael stopped him from going through."

"Michael is the rule keeper of the city in the First Firmament," she explained. "He could not allow Samael to pass after what he'd done."

Aiden listened intently as she spoke.

"War broke out," Cronyssia continued. "But there was no way Samael could fight against all the angels even if he was the strongest one of them and had the most transcendent fragment bestowed upon him."

"Being cast away and wounded, he chose to retreat into the demon realm," she said. "For several millennia it seemed he was quiet and we thought perhaps he had accepted his fate or simply disappeared."

Her voice grew heavier. "Then all of a sudden he came to strike a hundred years ago. With this newfound purpose" she said. "He intended to relieve the world of humans and then eventually the gods. He plans to claim all that authority over transcendence, become the new Oldest One and reshape the world in his own image."

Aiden frowned and spoke up. "But wouldn't he need the other authorities as well?"

Cronyssia shook her head. "Transcendence alone is too powerful," she replied. "If he somehow reclaims all of it or even just a good enough part of it, he wouldn't need anything else."

Aiden's frown deepened and concern filled his voice as he spoke again. "He's also too strong even as he is. He managed to fight you as a dragon while only possessing another's body, and then there's that weapon of his."

He paused and met her eyes directly. "How could we possibly beat him?"

Cronyssia's expression shifted slightly and she nodded as if she'd been waiting for that question.

"His weapon is part of the Relics of the First Dawn," she explained. "The first artifacts to ever be created. The Creator let His body parts be used as source material for their creation."

"What?" Aiden's tone was almost exclamatory as he heard that.

"That's an even longer story you'll get to know in time," Cronyssia replied.

"But you should know that there are thirteen of them. it's also good you asked the question of how we're going to beat the Demon King."

She smiled faintly. "Because I was getting to it."

Aiden waited for her to continue.

"It involves one of these relics," she said.

"Which one?" Aiden asked immediately.

"The Holy Grail," Cronyssia answered.

Aiden's eyes widened.

——

Not long after, Aiden woke from his subconscious and the first thing he saw was Syqora standing over him.

Watching with an unreadable expression on his face.

The Dragon of Destiny then turned away without another word and started making his way toward the other dragons at the gate.

It was as if he had been waiting on Aiden to wake the whole time, to be certain everything was alright after Cronyssia's essence had merged with him.

"Hey," Aiden called out as he pushed himself up. "You were saying something just before I passed out."

Syqora stopped mid-step but didn't turn around. "It doesn't matter," he said simply before his form began to shift and expand into his full dragon body.

"Wait," Aiden said quickly and got to his feet. "I have a message from Cronyssia."

Syqora paused again and this time he turned his massive head slightly to look back at Aiden.

Aiden explained everything Cronyssia had revealed to him in his subconscious, most of which Syqora already knew, but most importantly, he spoke of the Holy Grail and its role as the key to defeating him.

When Aiden finished speaking Syqora was quiet for a short moment before finally responding.

"I see," he said. "There's no problem then. We'll buy as much time as we can."

He turned his gaze toward the massive gate where Thyron and Orlien continued channeling their authorities into the lock.

"With three dragons holding down the seal it should give you enough time to rise to the strength of full-fledged dragon."

Aiden nodded once in acknowledgment.

Syqora studied him for another moment before speaking again. "You really are something, Aiden," he said ,with what might have been approval in his voice before turning fully and flying toward the other dragons at the gate.

The moment Syqora reached his position he stretched out his hand toward the lock and released the power of his authority over the chains.

As the Dragon of Destiny his domain of control encompassed fate, luck, and probability itself.

And With such power, he reduced the probability of the chains breaking to absolute zero.

Aiden watched for a moment longer before preparing to leave Dellheim, when suddenly new system messages appeared before his eyes.

[Gaining the Authority Over Time Has Called For A Change In The System's Mechanics]

[Shall I Begin The Updates?]

"Yes," Aiden replied without hesitation.

After that confirmation was given, he warped away from Dellheim entirely.
