Shortly after, a middle aged woman with hints of gray in her hair, came in from the back.
" Good day gentlemen, I hope there's no problem." said the woman with an obvious look of unease and nervousness.
" Please don't be alarmed miss, I've merely come here to offer up a business proposition."
" No...If that's why you've come then I'm sorry but we're not interested, so please leave!" Su Ping became surprised when the woman suddenly turned agitated all of a sudden.
" Madam, you haven't even heard his proposition yet." Jerry spoke up, trying to earn some points from Su Ping.
" I don't want to hear it, Please leave, my family has no interest in selling our store to thugs like you!" Said the Old women who unconsciously hugged her daughter close to her.
" Mommy, are they here to take away our store again." Anna's voice suddenly had a trace of grief.
" Thats never going to happen, mommy won't sell this store to them no matter what." The middle-aged woman reassured her daughter before turning to face the two men, her voice was filled with conviction but there was still some hints of fear in then, after all, she was still a common woman in the city, how could she possibly hope to stand up those who has their eye's on them.
" Forgive me but I couldn't help but hear you mention thugs?" The woman's expression turned skeptical at Su Ping's words.
" Miss, we aren't thugs, like i said, all I want is to offer the both of you a business proposition, if you find it not to your liking, we will gladly leave." Su Pings voice made the woman even more skeptical, she couldn't help wondering whether she was wrong and the two of them really weren't from the same group.
Meanwhile a light smile emerged on Su Pings lips behind his dark covering, he was just feigning to be oblivious, before they had arrived here, Su Ping had gotten Intel from Jerry about the in's and outs of the area and knew how troubling it was for the simple merchants in the area and how they were always being harassed by thugs who would always impose protection fees and the likes on them, sometimes when an affluent person would want to buy land in the area, they would seek the help of these thugs to force the shop owners into vacating.
Su Ping told the woman what his offer was. The middle aged woman and Jerry were stunned when he finished speaking, even the woman's daughter was astounded as well.
" Are you sure you didn't leave anything out?"
" Sister you can see that everything I stated is already written on that contract, if you're suspicious you can gladly go through it one more time." Su Ping chuckled, his tone sounding friendly. He had already gone to the city magistrate to issue these contracts, even back in the city hall, the staff were confused as to why he would issue such a contract.
' It's just like brother Wang once said, When talking to the wealthy, always speak about values, when it's your superior, always talk about work."
' When it's ones subordinates, they must always talk about the future but when it comes to the poor, the best way to gain their attention is to skip the cooperate talk and head straight to the benefits.' A sharp light flashed through Su Ping's eyes.
" But these terms... Are you really sure you only want 20 percent of our earnings every day?" Mary stared at Su Ping, her expression doubtful.
" Yes, like the contract states, all I want is the deed to your shop, you can continue to run it as you so please, As per the contract, if you grow tired of running it, you can leave out of your own violation."
"Regarding matters like those who come to cause unnecessary trouble, there's no need to worry, because I'll be the one in charge of protection."
Mary's brows furrowed deeply as she pondered his words, She felt that Su Ping's offer was basically shifting towards her favour.
' Why would someone like him want to acquire our shop if he's not planning on knocking it down to build an inn or sell it off to someone else?' The more Mary pondered Su Ping's suggestion, the more confused she became.
" S-Sir, I have a question." Anna suddenly decided to speak up at this very moment.
" You're free to go ahead my dear, I'm more than willing to answer any question you might have." Su Pings easy going demeanor put Anna at ease.
" I was wondering whether the shop would still allow my family to work here if my mom gets too old, this shop has been in our family for generations and–"
" Your worried I'll decide to sell the shop when your mom gets too Old and fails to run it properly, is that it." Su Pings words caught Anna off guard but she nodded with affirmation. Mary's eye's suddenly shimmered after hearing Anna's worry, she was surprised that she hadn't thought about such a loophole.
" There's no need to worry about that." Su Ping chuckled warmly. Before turning the contract Mary was holding, a new set of words was written behind it. Mary read through it and her mind was even more surprised.
" That's why I wanted you to read it thoroughly, as you can see, it's written right there, so long as you can find someone to run the store in your place, whether kin, relative, friends or anyone of the sort, i won't be able to do such things, so in a way, your store can continue to be passed down from generation to generation." Su Ping said before taking out something from his storage ring.
Mary became alert when Su Ping suddenly approached her daughter but to her surprise, Su Ping crouched down and placed something in Anna's arms.
' Is that a?!' Mary was taken aback by the extravagant display.
" Hahaha, to think you would be able to think of such a thing. Miss your daughter really is a born scholar." Su Ping said before standing up. " I really wish my daughter can turn out like you.
Anna stared at the mid grade mana stone in her hand and was surprised.
" Thank you sir." She said with excitement, not expecting the strange mister to be this generous.
' When it comes to building relationships, the quickest way is to reward the other party for completing tasks no matter how small.'
' They might not accept my offer today but I'm sure they'll come around soon enough.' Su Ping wasn't worried they would disagree, if it came down to it, he could just use his Dark Dragon Eyes on them. But since he promised a certain someone he'd do things without force, he decided to at least try the corporate approach.
" It's nothing, if the both of you happen to change your mind, you can come and meet me by the inn down the street." Su Ping said before turning around and leaving with Jerry.
" Sir, don't you think giving them an entire mid grade mana stone was too much." Jerry suddenly said after they had left the store.
" Do you have a problem with how I spend my money?" Su Ping stopped his gait and turned towards the man.
" No! Of course not Sir, it was just a slip of my tongue. I promise not to speak so rashly next time." Jerry became frightened and hurriedly begged for forgiveness.
Su Ping didn't say anything but continued to walk ahead, Jerry followed behind him, this time not uttering a single word.
' This imbecile... Looks like he's not as bright as I thought.' Su Ping said to himself. ' Offering them the contract should make them less guarded around me, and giving that young girl that mana stone will improve my image in their minds.'
' If they think I'm already affluent and wealthy, they might just believe I'm doing this on a whim instead of trying to trick them.'
' Also, if they unintentionally help me spread word of this matter, then I'm sure those local thugs and gangster's will come looking to make trouble, if that happens... I can simply kill two birds with one stone.'
' This way I can acquire some land and secretly gain rewards from the system without alerting the other players just yet.'
Su Ping's lips curved upwards behind his covering. He believed that it wasn't a surprising event for players to purchase piece's of land within each others territory, after all, that was just business. They couldn't come out and stop real estate simply because they hated loosing territory, such thinking was without a doubt flawed and narrow minded.
' Plus, my faction name shouldn't attract unwanted attention, fortunately, people of all ages and sizes were dragged into this wretched game along with me so most of them might even brush me off, thinking I'm just a lucky child who managed to get this far...'
