He recognized the armour the knight was wearing was similar to the knights surrounding the carriage downstairs.
Su Ping became curious as to what Esmeralda was trying to do. He had inflicted her with that illusion so as to help him with his plan of getting her to feel in-depth to him, even if he could only call upon her once, Su Ping was planning on cashing in on that opportunity for his future goals.
Melinda had even helped him with the ploy, yet now that one of her knights was here looking for him, Su Ping couldn't help but feel that the plan must've backfired somehow and she had decided to use this opportunity to strike at him.
The Knights disposition turned disgruntled at Su Pings behavior, he found it irking that this Lvl 2 nobody actually dared to behave in such a way with a Lvl 3 like himself.
" My captain would like to have a word with you. Please follow me." The Knight said before heading towards the stairs yet his gait stopped when he realized Su Ping hadn't bugged an inch.
" Forgive me but, tell your captain that I'm declining his invitation."
"And don't bother coming back here again, one visit is already as annoying as is." Su Ping said before heading back in but he stopped mid way when he felt the knights magical pressure lock on him.
" I'm afraid you don't understand your situation. If my captain says he wants to meet you, then you have no right to say otherwise." said the knight, he had lost his composure and wanted nothing more than to teach this arrogant, short-sighted man a lesson.
" Oh, is that so?" The Knight felt as if something wasn't right when the man before him began chuckling in a dark tone.
"...?!"
The Knights eyes suddenly widened when the door to Su Ping's room opened and a terrifying Lvl 3 undead came out but that wasn't the end. His eyes began trembling when one by one, several other Lvl 3 Death Knights stepped out of the room, Into the corridor.
3 Death Knights stood in the hallway, glaring at the line Knight who was now perspiring in terror.
" Still think I have no right to say otherwise." The Knight watched as the man's straw hat fell off to reveal a head covered in flowing darkness with two menacing purple black eyes that gave him the impression of being stared at by a terrifying beast.
" Young necromancer please restrain your temper." Just when the knight felt as if he would lose his life without a doubt, the both of them heard an Old voice filled with vigor.
" Senior... I believe I made it clear last time that I don't owe you anything. So why is it that you decided to interrupt me at this very moment." Dark tendrils emerged from the shadows within the hallway, picking up Su Ping's straw hat and placing it back on his head.
The Old man's instincts were flaring up when he felt the unified gazes of the 3 death knights trained on him but not only that, he felt an even more instinctive apprehension coming from the man with the straw hat, before him.
" Young necromancer, please don't misunderstand. I was merely curious as to why you haven't come down yet, the other's were patiently waiting for you." The Old man tried to clear up the issue less things spiraled out of control.
" If you're here about the supposed invitation from his captain, I'm sorry but I have no intentions of entertaining such things." Su Ping spared the frightened knight a glance before returning his gaze onto the Old man.
" Young necromancer please reconsider. I understand where your worries are coming from but, The Captain means no harm. He just wants to meet you because the young miss requested for it personally." said the Old man with a look of distress. He didn't want to find out what the Captain would do if Su Ping really did refuse to meet him.
There was a small crowd already present when he gave the command, if the young necromancer really didn't meet him then, that would be a great blow to the captains reputation.
' That annoying woman is actually the one behind this? But what reason could she have to initiate something like this...' Su Ping's expression darkened. He didn't like being clueless, after what happened in the Abyss, the very thing he hated the most was being played by others without even realizing it.
" Lead the way..." The Old man nodded, feeling relieved that Su Ping changed his mind. Su Ping first got Melinda and the kids then had the Death Knights accompany them downstairs.
The Knight almost gasped in shock at the sight of the two extra death knights, his fear towards the dark covered man grew even more. Not only him but, the entire inn almost collapsed from shock when they saw the 5 death knights surrounding Su Ping, Melinda and the kids, like a trained bodyguard unit. The floors creaked with each step the death knights took.
Even the small crowd outside almost ran away in fear at the sight of the multiple powerful undeads, the small crowd that had gathered to watch the stunning lineup of knights grew more than 3 times just to witness the four surrounded by the 5 undead.
" So your the young necromancer." A blonde haired man with an extremely masculine face and impressive stature, stared at Su Ping, taking in the sight of the strangely dressed man before him.
At the same time the Knight Captain stole a glance at their young heiress from within the carriage, he didn't fail to see her expression brighten slightly at the sight of the young man but he also noticed how her look took a different turn, at the sight of the woman and children next to him.
" Is there a reason why mister has chosen to request my presence." Su Ping asked, his tone somewhat impatient.
He had decided to bring Melinda and the kids along, Incase this was a trap and her aim was to separate them for easier termination but Mel and Sal were currently burrowed into their mother's arms, trembling.
Su Ping felt regretful that he hadn't considered that their trauma might act up because of the crowd around them.
" You really are fearless." The Captain noticed Su Pings impatience but didn't seem irritated in the least. " Please do forgive this man for interrupting your rest. I simply wanted to thank The young man who saved my young misses life."
" There's no reason for you to have gone this far Sir, besides, I wasn't the only one who helped, the one you should be thanking is my wife." Su Pings bold words caused some within the crowd to gasp while some began to murmur.
" Oh, I see, Well then, Allow me to thank you young lady." Against what most thought, The Knight Captain actually bowed his head towards Melinda.
Melinda who never expected to receive such treatment from such an influencial figure in all her lifetime, was taken aback.
" Your thanks is more than i could ask for, thank you sir." Melinda bowed back.
Su Ping frowned beneath his straw hat, he didn't like what just happened, not one bit. The way this conversation was going wasn't pleasing Su Ping at all.
" As a token of appreciation, The Montgomery household would like to invite you 4 over to thank you properly for your help." Many were stunned by the Knight captains words, some even began showing envious gazes yet, Su Ping didn't even bother with them, he was more worried about what the man had just said.
' Was this their plan from the very beginning, to bring us under their house, away from the gazes of other's....' Su Ping wanted to come up with a valid way to reject the offer while still retaining his IOU over Esmeralda but, his flustered mind couldn't come up with anything.
In the end, Su Ping didn't say anything but nodded, The Knight Captain opened the door for them and they got in. Su Ping, Melinda and the kids sat opposite Esmeralda. Su Ping gaze only lingered on Esmeralda for brief moment before landing on the people beside him.
' There's no need to worry too much, If they try anything, I'll just give them a taste of their own medicine.' Su Ping said to himself.
He had the undead return back to their room which they did. Su Ping stared at the moving buildings and people outside the carriage window before shifting his gaze to Mel and Sal, his expression softened when he saw that they were slowly regaining their selves since they were now away from the crowd.
The journey to the Montgomery Estate took some time but soon they arrived within the central region of the city. Su Ping noticed that the environment here took a more exorbitant turn, with more skillfully made buildings and elegant streets.
