Since her children and husband had been killed, she wanted nothing more than to join them, at least they would all be reunited together in the end.

But she suddenly felt cold limbs wrapping around her, pulling her into its embrace and shielding her from the blazing flames.

Rugard didn't wince from the flames, instead his eyes were filled with relief as he stared at Melinda.

" No no no no! Why! why did you stop me!" Melinda suddenly broke into tears, while struggling in Rugards arms. Rugard was at a loss yet he could also understand how she felt.

" Let me go! My children, let me save my children! Let me go save my children!!" Melinda cried, her voice sounding desperate yet Rugard only felt a heavy sense of guilt whelming up in his heart watching her struggle in his arms.

Melinda continued to struggle but he only pulled her deeper into his embrace, resting her head against his chest, hoping to calm down her shattered heart.

"...What do you think your doing to my wife." A cold voice filled with spine chilling malice was suddenly heard.

Rugard shivered unconsciously after hearing the voice, he wanted to turn around and see who it was but when his gaze first landed on the villagers, he was stunned.

The raging villagers expressions had changed into one of unimaginable fear, some of them even fell to the floor while trembling, their hands pointing behind him yet no sounds seemed to come out of their throats, their mouths agape as they trembled with fear.

Melinda who was struggling in his arms suddenly turned quiet, her eyes trembling as a trace of hope returned to her eyes.

" Darling...?" She muttered unconsciously. Hearing the familiar voice belonging to the person she thought she had lost, Melinda's body began trembling as if she couldn't believe it.

Rugard finally turned around only to be surprised by the strange sight, the blazing flames that towered several meters tall, had all turned into pitch purple black flames, their temperature seemingly non existent. He felt the fire brushing against his cloth and was alarmed to discover that it felt chilling to the touch.

Rugards gaze slowly rose up from the ground, till he saw some pair of feet within the black flames, feet with frightening claws, pitch black scales with purple glowing gabs.

His gaze rose up ever so slowly, taking in the sight of the terrifying creature before him, a creature with an impenetrable like build, dark, exquisite horns and a pair of eyes similar to black holes, threatening to swallow up all those who dared to gaze at it.

That same figure was holding two children in it's arms, they were non other than Mel and Sal, who looked to be asleep.

" I'll ask you again... What do you think your doing with my wife." Su Ping glared coldly at the human before him with his limbs wrapped around Melinda, the chill in his eyes genuine beyond any he'd shown so far.

" Darling...the children, your all alright." Rugard was caught off guard when Melinda shoved him aside and hurried over to Su Ping and the children.

With a single thought from Su Ping, the dark flames all vanished into thin air before she came in contact with anyone of them. Seeing this, Rugard only smiled helplessly before slowly getting up and dusting himself.

Melinda returned to Su Ping's side, embracing him and their children. The Draconian who's gaze seemed capable of bringing forth a blizzard, suddenly displayed a rare look of warmth, his eyes filled with affection as he stared at the woman Infront of him.

Su Pings heart ached when he saw her reddened and puffy eyes. Knowing how much she had suffered, he felt his heart aching even more. His eyes partially turned unfocused while staring at her, recalling a faint memory he never thought he would ever experience.

" Sweetie please wake up!"

" If I didn't let you leave with that demon, this wouldn't have happened... It's all my fault... it's my fault you ended up like this."

" Don't you dare close your eyes on me! Wake up for goodness sake...please wake up."

" Don't worry darling, tomorrow I'll head into town to pawn and exchange my savings for mana stones, I won't let you suffer like this."

Su Pings lips curled upwards into a warm smile. Back then he was to weak to move or speak yet he was still able to tell what was happening in his surroundings, with his superb hearing that wasn't fully healed, he could tell what had happened the night Melinda had gone to the villagers in search of mana stones, after all, even a normal person could hear it with how loud the commotion was.

At the time his heart was moved by Melinda. After losing everyone, he thought that he might as well die and end it all but, now he didn't want to die...he wanted to live, at least live to atone for all he'd done to her, his heart couldn't bear to let him end it all after all she'd done for him.

" I'm sorry I made you worry so much." Su Ping nuzzled his forehead against hers, catching her off guard. Melinda didn't know how to react from his open gesture of affection.

" I thought I lost you..."

" I thought I lost all of you..." Her body trembled from her overwhelming emotions as tears slowly built up in her eyes.

In the end, Melinda leaned into his embrace while crying her heart out, expressing all her sadness and pain. Su Ping didn't do anything to stop her, instead letting her vent out all her frustrations.

He spared a glance at the interior of the house that was horribly burnt to a crisp. Glancing at the location the 3 dark spheres once resided, Su Ping could make out 3 nearly unrecognizable corpses burnt to a crisp.

Roselia, Natalie and the Couger demoness didn't make it through, in the end.
