Starting Cultivation in Wasteland

Chapter 123: Drones - 124 Terrible Marksmanship

"It's me," Bentley replied gruffly, "Celestial Craftsmanship personnel, right?"

"If you didn't bring industrial robots, then don't come any closer, or don't blame me for being rude."

Despite the obvious tension, both sides maintained their calm.

One of the four muttered lowly, "Just charge in, it's only two Modified Warriors."

No one paid him any attention—they hadn't confirmed whether Jian Lei was in the courtyard. Charging in recklessly... are you crazy?

The man with the megaphone spoke again, "Regarding the repairs and checks, we have some details to finalize."

At the very least, they surrounded the guy named Terry, further probing was inevitable.

"It's been agreed long ago, I won't accept any changes," Bentley's voice came through, "If you can't play, then get lost!"

"Mr. Terry, we are very sincere," one of them took a step forward deliberately, "Mainly..."

"Bang!" A gunshot rang out, a bullet hit the ground seven or eight meters in front of him, dirt flying everywhere.

"Last warning, one more step forward... no mercy!"

The four exchanged glances and finally turned to leave—breaking into private property could get them killed with no place to plead.

Qu Jianlei had been watching the entire time, and seeing this, he snorted lightly, "Pushing and pulling, it seems they're holding back to fight."

"Hit with one punch to avoid a hundred punches later," Bentley learned quickly, "They'll have other measures."

He was absolutely right; in the afternoon, Celestial Craftsmanship sought out the landlord who rented the courtyard.

And then, using some unknown method, the landlord wanted to bring people into the courtyard.

Bentley firmly refused, "You've already received rent, the right to use is mine now, don't cause trouble!"

Wasteland has clear regulations on property ownership, but usage rights are very vague.

This is not a place with perfect legal systems; most of the time, they're not talking about law.

The landlord was furious, "It's my house, so I won't rent it out now—is that possible?"

"You think you can?" Bentley sneered.

He didn't talk about breach of contract—those things don't work in the Wasteland, "Use your foolish brain to think..."

"Can't you see how many people are across from you? They don't dare force their way in, who gives you the courage to break a contract with me, huh?"

The landlord's face turned pale at his words, neither side was easy to deal with, so why should he get involved?

Thinking of the instructions he received earlier, he coughed lightly, "Sir, I have no intention of being your enemy."

"But since you admit the house is mine, looking at it to see what changes there have been, that's always possible, right?"

Bentley pondered for a moment and asked, "Are you coming alone?"

The landlord's spirit lifted, and he nodded straightforwardly, "Yes, only me alone."

As long as he could go in and observe carefully, describe the whole process when he came out, he could earn quite a lot.

Bentley was not someone ordinary; his eyes were exceptionally sharp, "There's no mid-way inspection in our agreement."

"But there's also nothing saying you can't inspect, right?" the landlord countered stiffly, "I promise to just look..."

"Sure," Bentley answered lazily, then chuckled.

"But I have no obligation to guarantee your safety, you can come in... whether you can get out depends on your luck."

After finishing, he switched off the megaphone and shrugged at Qu Jianlei beside him.

"Honestly, I'm not used to talking so much... isn't it better to just take action?"

Qu Jianlei laughed, "Building up anger to unleash a big move... give them the illusion of 'reasoning', isn't it good?"

Bentley shook his head indifferently, then suddenly smiled, "You, you have a lot of cunning tricks."

Qu Jianlei silently pursed his lips... actually, I just want to take the moral high ground.

In the Wasteland, morality doesn't mean much, but he temporarily didn't want to give up life in Houjing.

So being meticulous in his actions isn't a bad thing.

The landlord got scared again, thought it over, and finally decided not to earn this money.

Celestial Craftsmanship people tried to pressure him but the landlord was very firm.

"The house is rented out already, I don't want to get involved in anything, you have no right to order me."

The Celestial Craftsmanship people were a bit disappointed, but they were businessmen after all, not heartless bandits.

"In that case, could you sell your house to us?"

"I'll sell the land with it," the landlord didn't reject them.

On the contrary, he felt it was a good opportunity, "A flat price, five thousand silver coins."

"Why don't you go rob," the negotiator was angry, "This courtyard and the land together aren't worth two thousand."

The landlord didn't hesitate to reply, "But now you need it, so it's valuable."

The negotiator was tempted to slap him, but finally gritted his teeth, "We'll only give you three thousand."

"Dream on!" The landlord shook his head and answered decisively, "Or you might as well kill me."

When was the last time he encountered such good fortune? How could he miss it?

Celestial Craftsmanship people thought for a moment, frowned and warned him, "Think it over... your courtyard might get destroyed in the battle."

This landlord was truly peculiar, "Then I'll come to you when that happens... my tenant can't possibly do that."

But, indeed, the logic was sound—if someone wanted to destroy my courtyard, why would they rent it?

Crucially, the landlord already knew the identity of these people... they were at least part of some team.
