Steelmind was curious. He had heard many times about the Realm within Realms and how magnificent it was. So many gods had become what they were thanks to going there, and even the Dark God himself had become the Fiend after his visit to the Realm within Realms.
He had fleeting thoughts of going there, but the danger of the realm quickly made him forget it. Now, seeing someone weaker than him visit the realm made him wonder if he had made a mistake by not going.
"How were you able to survive the journey? I hear most end up dying," Steelmind asked.
"Honestly," the Alchemy God said, "we should have died. It is pure luck that we were able to survive."
Steelmind narrowed his eyes. "Did you both go there?"
Duskcorpse nodded. "I was dying, so I needed to find a way to survive. I saw no other way but to visit that place. We had to take the risk."
Steelmind was quite surprised. "You must have been tremendously lucky then."
Duskcorpse agreed.
Steelmind was about to say something when he froze. "Wait, then was your visit to the Realm within Realms fruitless? You're still dying, aren't you, Sister Duskcorpse?"
Duskcorpse gave a faint smile. "We don't really know," she said. "We found a few things, but we're unable to tell if they're helpful or not."
"Have you not tested them yet?" Steelmind asked.
"It needs to be made first before we can test it," the Alchemy God said from the side. "That is the reason why we're here. We are here with a request."
Steelmind got serious. "You must wish for me to make you an artifact. Let's move somewhere else."
The Alchemy God and Duskcorpse left with Steelmind and arrived at a large room with formations surrounding every part of it, with an ambient temperature that was at least 30 degrees higher than the outside hallway.
Arriving at an open space, Steelmind turned around. "Alright, what is it that you wish me to make? I will need to know the appearance or shape of the artifact, the material you wish to make it with, and what you wish for it to do. The more complex each of those are, the longer it will take me to make, with a high chance of failure as well."
Duskcorpse nodded. "We're aware of the chance of failure," she said. "But you are a man who has made artifacts out of a Primordial's corpse. So you are perhaps the only one who can help us."
Steelmind nodded, waiting for them to continue.
"I went into the Realm within Realms with the intention of getting rid of my constitution, or at least bringing it back under my control again. As you can see, neither of those happened, but I was given something."
She gestured to the Alchemy God, who swiftly brought out something from his Soul Space.
A massive crystal of uneven shape, nearly a meter wide, appeared before him, glistening with a slight red glow.
Before Steelmind could see what had appeared, the Alchemy God quickly placed down a formation plate and activated it, creating a barrier around the crystal. As the barrier formed, the red glow from the crystal soon vanished, leaving a translucent crystal that was not that different from a Celestial Diamond in appearance.
Steelmind moved closer, trying to get a better view of the crystal before him. The barrier didn't stop his senses, so he quickly checked the crystal.
As he did, his breath was caught in his chest as shock filled him completely.
"It's a metal!" he said in surprise, looking up at the two other gods, who were showing similar surprise.
"How did you realize that?" he asked. "It took me ages to even learn that."
"I was still certain it was some sort of crystal," the Death God said.
"No, it's metal," Steelmind said. "It is easier if you know the Metal Dao, but even then, I was nearly mistaken. I have never seen such a metal in my life."
"Us neither," the Alchemy God said.
"The mere fact that you can recognize it as a metal gives me much hope," the Death God said. "This is one of the things I received from my journey to the Realm within Realms; the only thing that could possibly help me."
Steelmind narrowed his eyes. "I don't understand," he said. "How can this metal help you?"
Duskcorpse gestured to the Alchemy God, who stopped the formation around the crystalline metal. As soon as the barrier vanished, the clear metal began developing a soft red glow.
Steelmind sensed the metal again and found it to possess a hint of Fire aura now. He was confused as to how it suddenly had Fire aura. Before he could have any further thoughts, the Fire aura vanished, replaced by a strong Yin aura that he soon recognized to be Death aura.
He stepped back in surprise but stopped when he saw that Duskcorpse had stepped closer to the metal. He paused for a moment, looking between the metal and Duskcorpse, before a thought grew in his mind.
"Is it… attracting your aura?" he asked.
"It is," Duskcorpse said as she pulled out a talisman and handed it over to him. "I found it some years after leaving the realm. I hadn't realized there was an explanation to what the crystal was at first."
Steelmind took the talisman and read through it. The information within it was an explanation of how the metal worked. Apparently, it could draw aura away from someone, quickly keeping it within itself. By using it, the Death God could put all her excess Death Dao inside that metal, essentially bringing her situation under control.
"Wait, so you did find a solution for your situation," he said. "Then what is the issue?"
"The limit of this metal," the Alchemy God said. "How much Death aura can it handle before it can no longer accept any aura? We fear that there is a limit, and as such, this would only be a temporary measure at best. And we want something permanent."
