The ape wasn't amused by what Alex said. He looked at him still, waiting for his answer.
Alex was taken aback. "Okay, how do you even know I'm an alchemist?"
"Will you help me? Will you sell me a recipe?" the ape asked.
Alex looked to Beihan for help, but she was equally confused as well. With no choice, he turned back to the ape. "What sort of pill recipe do you want?"
The ape seemed to grow excited now. "I want the recipe to the pill that will help push back Immortal Tribulations by a few centuries."
Alex paused for a moment, thinking back to the recipe. His eyes slowly widened, realizing exactly what pill the beast was talking about.
"You know who I am," Alex said, only now figuring out how. "Were you there?"
"No, I've only seen the recordings," the ape said. "You were brilliant."
The pill to delay Immortal Tribulations was the final pill Alex had developed in the final competition of the Alchemy tournament. It was the pill he had used to go up against Aethersage and win.
"Did you only recognize me today, or…"
"Yes. I saw the recording a few decades ago, after some humans sold it off. Beasts tend to not care about the human lands, but because this was an alchemy competition, my interest was caught. I bought it and watched it all. The talent I saw in that competition dwarfs everything I have seen from beasts. I can't lie. Ever since then, I have been looking forward to meeting a human alchemist, so when I saw you enter my shop, I was shocked."
Alex couldn't help but smile at the praise. "I'll sell you the pill. We want these ingredients instead."
He handed over a talisman to the ape, who took it out for a second before returning. "My people will look through our storage. We'll learn soon how much we have."
Alex brought out a talisman and wrote down the recipe for the pill. He paused, thinking it over for a moment. After a second, he handed it to the ape.
The ape read it over, its eyes shining bright in glee. "Thank you. Thank you so much."
Beihan could only give a helpless smile at the side as she watched the whole thing unfold.
"May I ask what you're doing here?" the ape asked. "From what I learned, you disappeared after the tournament."
"I've been to places," Alex said.
"And how are you acquainted with Lady Beihan?"
Alex was about to answer, but Beihan took over. "He is the reason behind my sudden rise in alchemy talent," she said.
The ape was quite surprised by that revelation.
Someone arrived a few seconds later, bringing along the information. The ingredients Alex wanted were there, but not many of them. At best, he could make 3 different Mind pills, and 4 of the tribulation pills. That was far from enough for Alex.
"These ingredients are rare. It would take a long time to gather them all," the ape said as it read the list over. "You will have to purchase them from other locations."
Alex frowned somewhat, annoyed that he couldn't get everything he wanted right away, but it made sense. "I'll take what I can then."
The ape nodded and sent someone to gather it all. While they waited, a thought came to the ape.
"What do you think about making another deal?" the ape asked. "You might not have the connections I have within this realm, so I will be able to get you your ingredients with relative ease within just a few months."
Alex raised his eyebrows. "And what do you want in exchange?"
The ape shrugged. "What can you give me?"
Alex considered the ape's proposition and went through everything he could give the ape. There were a few things, one of which he knew would be quite needed in every alchemy store in every single realm.
After thinking about it, he went through his Soul Space and searched for the pill. He found the bottle, but he brought out a single pill. Once it arrived atop his palm, he let the ape take it and look it over.
The ape knew a lot about alchemy, but not enough to recognize what the pill was.
"What is this?" it finally asked.
"I call it the Dawn Breaking pill," Alex said. "It's a pill meant to be eaten by those that have eaten too many bad pills. It reverses the adverse effects of the lower-grade pills, preventing you from ever developing pill poison."
The ape stared at the pill with wide eyes. "This… this helps against pill poison?"
"Its other name is the Pill Poison Prevention Pill, but that's a mouthful, so I named it the Dawn Breaking pill."
The ape looked back at Alex. "You named it?"
"Of course. I came up with that pill."
Even Beihan seemed completely flabbergasted by the pill Alex had brought out. Only an alchemist would truly understand the threat that was pill poison. And considering that most individuals wouldn't be able to afford the high-grade pills, this would come in very handy.
"Where's the recipe?" the ape asked excitedly, but Alex shattered its happiness.
"You will get no recipe, senior. Just the pill," Alex said.
"Just one?" the ape asked.
"No, you will get multiple pills every month. Senior Beihan here will make that pill and bring it to you. I will give her the recipe and you two can figure out any sort of deal you want within yourselves. As for me, so long as I get those ingredients, I'm good."
The ape thought for a moment and nodded. Even though their store wouldn't get the recipe, so long as they got an exclusive deal, it would be fine.
"I will accept that offer," the ape said, grinning widely. "I knew my luck would change after seeing you. Don't worry, I shall scour the entire Land of the Blessed Sun and bring these ingredients to you as soon as I can."
