Whisker was somewhere in a flower field, cushy and relaxing. He didn't know how long he had been here, but he was happy, and that was all that mattered to him at that moment.
He wanted to fall asleep, but his senses were constantly active for some reason, giving him insomnia. He had tried to ignore them as much as he could, but he wasn't able to.
His regular senses were all gone, which was good. It was his whiskers that were the problem. The damn things sensed so much at all times that it was impossible for him to shut down the knowledge that came from them.
That had been happening for hours now.
Something buzzed within his Soul Space, annoying him even more. Why was the world hellbent on not letting him sleep? Did they not know that he didn't want to be disturbed?
He brought out the talisman that was buzzing and read the message that came. There was nothing. That was even more annoying.
He opened his eyes to stare down at the talisman in hatred.
'If you're gonna disturb me, at least send a proper message!' Whisker thought, wanting to destroy whoever it was that had disturbed him. If he wasn't wrong… this was Scarlet's talisman, right?
'Why is she messaging me?' Whisker thought. 'Is she still cultivating in the chambers? Does she need something?'
Whisker frowned slightly. Was he still in Soul Space? Shouldn't he have left already?.
'Sister Scarlet isn't there,' Whisker thought. 'She is…'
Where was she?
His eyes surveyed his surroundings now that they were finally open. 'As a matter of fact, where am I?'
He was in a field of flowers, the beautiful aroma all that he could smell. Whisker looked at the flowers and felt a feeling of listlessness take over him. This was the most relaxing sight he had seen in a while.
'Was I supposed to tend to these?' he wondered. As the gardener of Alex's Soul Space, that was his job. 'How do I tend to these again?'
He tried to remember. If he wasn't wrong, these flowers needed to be watered from far away, never getting too close. They also needed to be grown inside a formation, as their aura couldn't be allowed to spread.
Had he planted these? When?
Where had he found the Mercy's Twilight flowers in the first place? Alex should've known better than to let these be with him. After all, these flowers were extremely poisonous.
They killed their victims very slowly, without pain or agony. The victims felt nothing but a relaxing feeling as they slowly succumbed to a slumber they would never wake up from.
A slumber that he wanted to fall into.
A spark formed inside Whisker's mind.
'Oh… I'm poisoned.'
Whisker wasn't sure how long it had taken him to realize that. When he finally did, he searched through his Soul Space and found a pill. He brought it out and ate it.
As the pill settled in his stomach, a burst of power surged through him, and within seconds all poison was gone from him.
Whisker wasted no time and got away from the flowerbed, moving as far as he could. He needed to be at least 20 meters away from the flowerbed before Mercy's Twilight flower's aroma no longer affected him.
Only when Whisker was outside of its range did he dare to breathe again. Even as he did, he could already smell another poisonous aroma in the air. He closed his nose instantly, no longer breathing any more air there.
He slowly turned around at the location he had arrived at, scanning for the source of the other poison. When he did, he froze.
Before Whisker lay a forest that was dense with trees and foliage. He looked at the bush nearby, the ripe red berries ready to be plucked all over it.
"Blood Freezing berry," Whisker said softly. It was a poisonous berry that coagulated one's blood inside their body, killing them within seconds.
His eyes turned to another location, seeing bright pink flowers with specks of red on them.
"Immortal Mindbane orchid."
It was a flower that released a type of pollen that, when inhaled, caused one to be struck with a strong sort of mind poison.
Whisker looked at the tree next to them, the greenish sap that came out of it.
"Is that… an Emerald Soultrap tree?" Whisker thought. That was another poisonous tree, whose sap, if accidentally consumed, could harm one's mind and even destroy the person's spiritual sea itself.
Whisker looked to the right.
"Snake Fang Lily."
He turned to the left.
"Carmine Blood thorns."
Behind another bush.
"Immortal Acid Strike bud."
To the right of another tree.
"Iron Bone leaves."
The poisonous plants were all around him. Whether he turned left or right, there was not a place he could turn where he couldn't find another poisonous plant.
Whisker started panicking and tried to fly away from the location, only to find it impossible to fly. Some sort of suppression kept him from flying more than a meter off the ground.
If he couldn't fly, he could run. He kept his focus on everything that was around him, and everything that was coming up front. He dodged the poisonous plants left and right, never breathing them in, not even touching them.
With the level of caution he held, he couldn't be fast. Still, he walked away, making his way out of the poisonous forest. About half an hour later, Whisker came out of a clearing onto a hill.
There were no poisonous plants anymore, finally giving him a chance to feel relieved. He walked over to the top of the hill, trying to understand just where it was that he had arrived at.
When he reached the top of the hill, the land abruptly ended. Only then did Whisker realize that the hill had instead been a cliff all along.
And beyond the cliff was a sight that left him stunned.
As far as his eyes could see, there was nothing but lava in all directions.
"Where the hell am I?"
