Pick Up a Killer as Girlfriend

Chapter 118: Such Relatives

Li San, the last heir of the Swallows.

During the late Qing Dynasty, the Swallows were brimming with talent, specializing in robbing the rich to help the poor. They were renowned for their bizarre skills and adeptness at Lightweight Skill. Especially during the resistance against foreign invaders, they stole a vast number of military firearms for our army.

However, as times changed, the Swallows gradually declined. Their decline only further emphasized that this era no longer needed them.

Yet, the existence of Li San was somewhat unexpected.

Originally an orphan, he was found by the Swallows at the age of twelve, told he was the fifth-generation heir. From then on, Li San began learning the unique skills of the Swallows.

Today was the first time he failed. And, he lost to a peer.

Li San found it unbelievable, especially since this guy, knowing he was being tricked, still handed him five thousand in cash. This Ye Xiaofan was truly an interesting fellow.

Li San got off a bus and walked straight into a hospital.

"Brother Li San, you're here."

"Brother Li San."

In a ward with two hospital beds, two little boys, seemingly five or six years old, started laughing when they saw Li San enter.

"Come, see what I brought you today?"

"Wow, so many delicious snacks. Brother Li San, was it another kind person today?" One of the boys, eyes shining, looked over at the snacks Li San brought.

"Yes, indeed. A kind hearted person. But today, this kind person has a name, he's called Ye Xiaofan."

The two children were orphans. The orphanage they were in had closed following the director's death, leaving these two uncared for, as the healthy children got adopted. These two, however, were neglected.

Their illnesses were not serious, but treating them required a lot of money. Li San had no choice but to use what little ability he had to ensure the health of these two children.

Today was the monthly due day for payments. After stealing from three people and realizing none were wealthy, he returned the money. Thinking that people taking planes at the airport wouldn't be short of money, he waited at the metro station in front of the airport. Sure enough, he spotted the wallet-bulging Xiaofan. But who knew, his first failure would happen with him. Yet thanks to him, the five thousand allowed the children's treatment to continue for another week.

As our friend Xiaofan handed over five thousand to Li San and walked back, he realized he was lost.

It's quite hilarious that getting lost could happen to him. No wonder, Li San moved so fast, darting into seven or eight alleys, and Xiaofan chased too closely, completely unaware of his surroundings. He finally found a bus back to the metro station only to discover he was going the wrong way. Damn it...

At 5:30 PM, inside a three-story house in a certain garden in Capital City. This was the home of Xiaofan's second uncle.

"Dad, when is Third Uncle's son arriving? It's already so late, I'm starving. Let's start eating." The speaker was Ye Daqiao's eldest daughter, and also Ye Aotian's only granddaughter, Ye Weiwei.

"Ah, let's eat, let's eat, no more waiting. Didn't the kid say he would come in the morning? How come it's afternoon and he's still not here. Weiwei, call Shaolong down to eat." Ye Daqiao checked the time and decided not to wait. He put down the newspaper, preparing to eat.

"What's the rush? Maybe Xiaofan encountered something? Let's wait a bit..." Yet Ye Daqiao's wife, Liu Yun, countered.

"Then we'll wait a bit longer." Ye Daqiao did not object to his wife, if she said wait, then they would wait.

"Seriously, a boy from the countryside can't even afford a few hundred in accommodation fees? If he can't, just stay at a hotel outside for a couple of days. Doesn't he know how much trouble he's causing others by visiting someone's house?" Ye Weiwei pouted, fuming.

"Weiwei, how could you say that? Xiaofan is your Third Uncle's son, that makes him your brother." Liu Yun immediately admonished her daughter.

"Brother? I don't have a brother who's so scruffy. When I stayed at Grandpa's when I was little, I never saw him clean for even a day. So filthy." As Weiwei spoke, she started heading up the stairs.

"Hey, it's almost time to eat, why are you heading up?" Ye Daqiao, doting on his daughter, hastily called after her.

"Who knows when your nephew will arrive. I'm going for a nap. Otherwise, I might get a stomach ache from hunger."

"Alright, no more waiting, let's eat. Long, come down to eat." Ye Daqiao didn't want his daughter to feel wronged, especially for a nephew they hadn't seen in years.

Upon hearing her father's words, Ye Weiwei didn't continue upstairs, reluctantly returning to the dining table.

'Ding-dong.'

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

"Oh, that might be Xiaofan." Liu Yun spoke, quickly stepping to the door and opening it.

Sure enough, Xiaofan stood at the door, sweating profusely, and breathlessly asked, "Sorry, is this Ye Daqiao's house?"

"Xiaofan, right? Come in, come in. Gosh, it's been almost six years. Look at you, you're all grown up, even taller than your father now. Come in. Wash your hands and join us for dinner." Liu Yun, with a broad smile, welcomed Xiaofan in.

Ye Daqiao gave Xiaofan a sidelong glance before slowly rising.

At the dinner table, Ye Weiwei glanced over, disdainfully remarking, "Showing up right on time for dinner, so typical."

"Xiaofan, this is your eldest sister. Do you remember?"

"I remember. Back in the village, she was the only one in a dress. So pretty!" Xiaofan really knew how to flatter.

Upon hearing this so-called brother compliment her on her beauty, the disdain in Ye Weiwei's gaze softened slightly. She noticed Xiaofan's luggage contained only clothes, nothing else to speak of.

"Wow, you're really not shy, coming here for the first time with nothing in hand." Ye Weiwei always spoke her mind when something displeased her.

"Weiwei, what are you saying?" Liu Yun quickly smiled apologetically at Xiaofan and said, "Your sister's just joking around, eat up, eat up."

"I actually intended to buy some fruit, but ran out of money. Eldest Sister, tell me what you want to eat later, and I'll buy it for you." Xiaofan truly was out of money; who would have known he'd get lost, with only a few dozen left that couldn't get him here. The last stretch he had to run.

"After the fact." Ye Weiwei muttered under her breath, starting to serve herself rice, ignoring everyone else.

An entitled young lady. Xiaofan inwardly chuckled, washed his hands, and joined for dinner.

"Dad, your nephew is quite presumptive, isn't he? Been here a while and hasn't even greeted you." Ye Weiwei expressed her discontent.

"Eat, he's inexperienced, shy is normal." Ye Daqiao said, slowly moving to the table.
