What Li Kuo referred to as striking up a conversation is actually what often gets reported in online news as 'corpse picking.'
In nightclubs, there are often women who, after getting drunk, are approached by strangers and then taken to hotels. No need to ask what happens at the hotel, everyone understands.
However, this doesn't necessarily mean that men doing this are despicable, sleazy, or even shameless. In fact, not all women who come here to get drunk are repulsed by 'corpse picking.'
In this tense urban life, they also face enormous life pressures. Getting drunk is a way to relieve stress, but most women taken to hotels do so voluntarily, and the sedative effect of alcohol merely prompts their subconscious actions.
Drunk men experience a seventy percent or higher decrease in desire, while drunk women have a 200% increase in desire. So these women know the consequences when they let themselves get drunk and alone, giving those men a chance.
It's clear that Li Kuo has a lot of experience in this area,
"Strange, are you really a man? I've explained this so clearly, and you still want to go back?" Li Kuo looked at Xiaofan in puzzlement.
"Nothing I can do; living at my second uncle's house now. Anyway, I'm in Capital City; I'll have chances to hang out with you again. I'm off." When it comes to understanding this stuff, Xiaofan, having spent considerable time at Star Moon Bar, is more experienced than Li Kuo. It's not that Xiaofan isn't interested; after all, he's a normal guy. But he feels he can't quite overcome that internal barrier.
In the end, Xiaofan didn't let Li Kuo drive him home; it's not too far to his second uncle's house from here. Spending a few dozen bucks on a cab will suffice.
However, what frustrated Xiaofan was how difficult it was to hail a cab in this bustling district. Helplessly, Xiaofan opted for the nearby public bus.
"Ah, help... hmm hmm hmm..."
Suddenly, just as Xiaofan was walking past an alley, he heard a call for help from within the dark alleyway. Though brief, he heard it clearly.
Others might have thought they misheard, given the noisy traffic and miscellaneous sounds in the crowd, which would make it challenging to discern accurately. But Xiaofan was different; after opening his meridians, both his vision and hearing had improved exponentially.
Perhaps because Xiaofan was very confident in his skills, upon hearing the plea for help, he turned and walked into the alley.
Sure enough, he hadn't walked far before he saw shadows writhing not far ahead.
"Who goes there? Halt!" Instantly, Xiaofan shouted and quickly ran toward them.
The sudden appearance of a young man startled those in the alley. Xiaofan saw the girl who had cried for help amidst the group.
It certainly was a girl, not tall... In the dark, this was as much as Xiaofan could make out.
"Who are you?" The person shone a flashlight at Xiaofan upon seeing him.
"Let her go." Xiaofan shielded his eyes from the glaring light and spoke sternly.
"Kid, don't meddle in affairs that aren't yours." The other returned in anger with a shout.
"What if I insist on intervening?"
With that said, Xiaofan suddenly dashed forward.
Evidently, the opponents never anticipated such speed from the young man in front of them, leading them to inadvertently lose grip on the girl and have her snatched by the opposite party.
"Who, who are you?" The girl, now standing behind Xiaofan, asked nervously.
"Run." Xiaofan didn't turn to see the girl and remained vigilant against the five approaching strongmen.
Xiaofan hadn't expected there to be so many of them, and their movements and demeanor suggested they had undergone special training.
"Thanks so much." The girl happily thanked Xiaofan before turning and fleeing the alley.
Seeing the girl escape, the group of men immediately grew anxious and lunged at Xiaofan.
Originally, they planned to send one to block Xiaofan while the remaining four pursued the fleeing girl, but they didn't expect this young man to stand steadfastly at the alley exit, his actions remarkably swift.
Inside, Xiaofan was quietly shocked, wondering who these men were and how they could be so formidable. Though he managed to hinder their pursuit briefly, he almost got grabbed by them in that split second.
"Kid, get lost!" The opponent seemed genuinely upset.
"If you have the guts, come at me!"
"Hmph." The foremost strongman snorted angrily, stepping forward and launching a heavy punch at Xiaofan.
Xiaofan dared not take it head-on, quickly retreating to evade. Unexpectedly, as soon as he stabilized his footing, the second wave of attacks was upon him. Startled, Xiaofan again focused his energy on his feet, barely evading the second round of strikes.
"So dare to play hero with mere tricks…" Yet the opponent advanced in the next instant.
Xiaofan stared blankly as the opponent's big foot came at him, suddenly losing the capacity to retreat. He could only shield his chest firmly with both arms.
"Whoa…" Xiaofan was directly knocked back about three meters and crashed to the ground.
"Captain, the young lady has been found. Leave him be." Just as the burly man intended to step forward and punish Xiaofan further, a comrade quietly advised him.
Upon hearing this, the burly man's severe expression gradually relaxed. He glanced at Xiaofan disdainfully: "Don't think that a few kung-fu moves make you a hero. You won't even know how you die. Let's go..."
Leaving behind those words, the group arrogantly departed from Xiaofan's sight, while he clamped his injured chest and slowly struggled to rise.
The defeat tonight struck a huge blow to him. If any random person could knock him down, then how weak must he be?
Moreover, the opponent clearly held back, not exerting their full strength. Otherwise, Xiaofan might not just have a bruised chest; broken ribs were a definite possibility.
This Capital City is indeed a place filled with hidden talents. Yet, Xiaofan felt powerless to help with the young girl's situation; it was beyond his control. Not to mention, he wasn't sure if the girl managed to escape.
Elsewhere, inside a Mercedes SUV. The girl who was rescued was pouting, sitting in the car with a new plush doll in her arms, visibly upset.
"Hey, Big Guy, what about that person who came to rescue me?" Despite seeing the person who had just grabbed her, the girl was not the least bit afraid but rather annoyed at them.
"Miss, his intention was to rescue, not harm you, so we won't bother him." The man said calmly after entering the car.
"That's good. But you all are really useless, letting someone snatch me away so easily. How can you call yourselves bodyguards? I'm going to tell my dad to replace all of you…" The girl said playfully, pouting.
"It was my fault; I'll let sir punish me when we return. But Miss, please refrain from leaving home arbitrarily again; it's challenging for us. Let's drive..."
"Hmpf. You shouldn't bother me."
