Pick Up a Killer as Girlfriend

Chapter 63: In the Valley

Lin Miaoke seemed to have a very long dream, dreaming of being attacked by a pack of wild animals, escaping alone to a very dark place, wanting to scream for help but unable to open her mouth. She only saw pairs of beastly eyes slowly approaching her.

When Lin Miaoke found herself with nowhere to escape, a figure suddenly rushed in front of her, lighting up the surroundings with a torch and scaring away those beasts. When the person turned around, the youthful face instead displayed an immensely domineering expression.

"Ye Xiaofan… ah!"

Just as she shouted the person's name, a venomous snake suddenly leaped up from the ground and bit her on the thigh, scaring Lin Miaoke into a scream.

"Why are you screaming? If you can't bear a little pain, how can you be a police officer?"

When Lin Miaoke opened her eyes, the glaring sunlight filtered through the trees, shining into her eyes, only to see that figure searching for something on her body.

"Ye Xiaofan, what are you trying to do?" Lin Miaoke reflexively wanted to sit up, but the pain in her thigh made her frown and grimace.

"Checking your wound, what else? Get up, take off your pants." Xiaofan's words were quite cold, of course, given the current situation, he couldn't be happy.

"What for? Take off my pants? You, you, you…"

"Stop talking nonsense. If you don't want your leg to be amputated, listen to me." Xiaofan said coldly.

Hearing this, Lin Miaoke looked around. If she could feel pain, it meant she wasn't dead yet. Trying hard to remember what happened before, Lin Miaoke saw the pond nearby. Looking at both herself and Xiaofan's soaked clothes, she realized that she had fallen straight into the pond.

However, due to the shock and impact of the fall, Lin Miaoke had fainted. Fortunately, Xiaofan was still conscious; otherwise, this fool would have drowned if not dead from the fall.

"Can we not?" Lin Miaoke's face suddenly flushed. She didn't know Xiaofan could use herbs to treat external injuries, but she trusted Xiaofan's earlier words. However, taking off her pants in front of a man was truly embarrassing.

"Fine, if you have a knife, you can cut your pants instead. It's your fault for wearing such high-quality pants; I tried tearing them for ages and couldn't do it." Xiaofan said helplessly.

"Knife. I have one, I have one." Lin Miaoke immediately took out a military knife and handed it to Xiaofan.

"Why give it to me? Cut it yourself." Xiaofan glanced over, annoyed.

"Oh." Lin Miaoke realized something and started cutting: "Hey, what are you trying to do?"

"What do you think I'm doing? You got shot, lost a lot of blood, and on top of that, you've been soaked in cold water. If it's not dealt with quickly, it could get infected, and in serious cases, you might have to have the entire thigh amputated." Xiaofan explained with patience.

"Oh."

'Tsk…' Lin Miaoke cut open the fabric on her thigh and saw the damaged skin tissue, biting her lip and not uttering a sound.

"Oh, your thigh is quite fair." Xiaofan teased, stepping forward.

"What, what are you doing?" Seeing Xiaofan approach just after she cut her pants open, she immediately scooted back a bit, holding the knife defensively towards Xiaofan.

"Applying medicine. Seriously."

Seeing Xiaofan bring over the herbs he had prepared, Lin Miaoke set down the knife gently, watching as he slowly applied the herbs on her thigh.

Since childhood, aside from her mother, no one else had touched her thigh, but now this guy was both touching and kneading it, making Lin Miaoke extremely shy. Her eyes dodged, unable to meet his directly.

"Alright, now it's your turn to help me a bit." Xiaofan said, standing up and taking off his black T-shirt.

Xiaofan's body didn't have explosive muscles, but he looked solid. However, next to his sturdy arm, there were ghastly scars.

"When… when did you get shot?" Seeing the twenty-centimeter blood scar on Xiaofan's shoulder, Lin Miaoke was stunned. It extended from the shoulder to the back, a gory sight.

"Hurry up, the herbs are there, use the method I applied the medicine on you, then use the leftover tattered fabric to bind it tightly."

Hearing this, Lin Miaoke stopped dawdling. She knew the pain this guy endured was definitely much greater than hers. But when did he get shot? She hadn't known all along.

While applying medicine for Xiaofan, Lin Miaoke continuously recalled the events of last night. But she had no clue, because until he carried her and jumped into the valley, he seemed completely normal, showing no signs of injury.

However, Lin Miaoke noticed her clothes, although somewhat dim from the washing, still had traces of blood stains left. This meant he was already shot while carrying her, and lost a lot of blood.

Could it be…

Suddenly, Lin Miaoke recalled something. In the warehouse, he suddenly dashed towards her, and seemed to let out a muffled shout at that moment. Was it then that he got shot?

If that's really the case, in such circumstances, he still desperately protected her, even carrying her a long distance. Thinking of this, a glimmer of tears appeared in Lin Miaoke's eyes, and deep regret surfaced in her heart again.

If she had listened to his advice earlier, such things wouldn't have happened. Moreover, even if something went wrong, it would have been her own fault, yet he specifically came to save her. It's all her recklessness that caused him to end up like this. No wonder this guy always called her an idiot, a fool. In fact, his insults weren't wrong at all.

"What are you thinking? Hurry up." Xiaofan felt the activity behind him stop and urged.

"Yes. I'm coming."

Though it was only a grazed wound from the bullet, some parts almost exposed the bone. Compared to her thigh scrape, it's evident this boy's injury was far more severe than hers.

"I didn't expect we were so lucky. Falling from such a height and yet survived. Is this a case of great adversity leading to good fortune?" While applying medicine, Lin Miaoke sighed.

"Surviving isn't certain yet. Wait until we walk out of this valley alive. Also, last night wasn't luck; I made a gamble. I only had a 50% chance of not dying from the jump. Gambling this life on that 50%, it seems our fate isn't ready to end yet." Xiaofan said slowly, enduring the pain from the herbal irritation.

"Gamble? Did you know there was water down in the valley before jumping?" Lin Miaoke asked in surprise, her grip unconsciously tightening a bit.

"Hey, lighten up, it hurts." Xiaofan frowned.

"Ah, sorry, sorry. Blow, blow." At this moment, Lin Miaoke became as obedient as a little cat, seeing she had hurt Xiaofan, she hurriedly blew on his wound lightly. The imposing policewoman demeanor was nowhere to be seen, she was just a gentle, docile little woman.

But how did he know there was a pond below? Could this high schooler really be as omniscient as a deity?
