The confusion didn't fade. It settled like a heavy fog, clinging to the four and clouding their minds.
Rika and Rita stood cuffed wrist-to-wrist, the living black metal binding them pulsing faintly as if it were alive. And, in a way, it was. Each time either Succubi tugged against the cuffs, the corruption got tighter.
"Levia!" Rita snapped with a sharp voice. "What is this?"
Rika yanked once, grimaced as the cuffs bit, then growled, "You can't hand us over like-"
Levia turned to them and smiled. Not the usual cold and distant smile of the High Priestess. It was a simple and soft smile, feminine and pure.
"We're on his side now," she said, informing them. "Okay?"
Silence followed. Even the embers crackling in the half-dead fire seemed to get quieter following Levia's words.
Akane's tail fluffed in outrage. "Excuse me?!" she shouted, "You are NOT on ur side. They were trying to kill us just a minute ago!"
Akane turned towards Syl for support, but the latter remained silent.
The female Hobgoblin angled her body slightly to keep everyone in view, worry lining her eyes despite the blank expression she tried to hold.
Rika and Rita exchanged a quick, wordless look as Amon took a seat on a fallen tree trunk.
Their eyes slid to where Levia was standing. A moment later, she wasn't standing anymore.
Amon sat with his elbows loosely resting over his knees. "Alright, catch me up. What happened while I was gone?"
Akane started explaining. She told him about the Humans, the Demon that suddenly appeared, the other two Demons, the first Demon's disappearance and the huge Golem's appearance, as well as her and Syl's fight against the two Demons.
Levia, oblivious to the whiplash everyone else was feeling, beamed up at Amon. "My bad." She said with a wide smile.
Meanwhile, Rita and Rika were focused solely on Levia.
She had never seen her so happy. She had never seen her smile like that.
'Makes sense why she would get on his side.' They thought, as Levia didn't look away from Amon for even a moment. She was completely absorbed by him, her shoulder pressed against Amon's arm like it was nothing.
Rita pressed her lips. 'She can touch him, and he can touch her.'
"Well?" Amon turned towards Levia once Akane was done explaining anything. "How are you going to make it up to us?"
Levia lit up, immediately sliding down the trunk to stick to him further, touching hip to hip.
"What can I do?" She asked. "Tell me, and I'll do it. I'll make friends with your friends. I don't mind."
"You cannot be serious," Akane said, incredulous. "Enemies don't become friends so quickly."
Hearing that, Syl couldn't help but look away while pursing her lips.
"For now," Amon said, tone flattening into command, "We need a place where we won't be interrupted the second we close our eyes. Everyone's obviously tired. Let's start with that, alright? Levia, tell your friends to promise they won't harm us."
Levia obediently nodded, then turns towards Rika and Rita, eyes shooting daggers at them.
"If it's what Levia says." Rika sighed.
"Only starts fighting because of Levia in the first place." Rita grumbled as she looked away.
Akane stared with a frown, unconvinced.
"Oh!" Levia's hand shot up like a child volunteering in class. "If it's a safe spot you're looking for, I know just the place!"
Amon's hand landed on her head, his fingers spreading through her ashen hair.
"That's good." He said, pating her head.
"Ehehe…" Levia chuckled.
Rita and Rika went absolutely still.
They watched carefully as energy flowed Amon's hand to Levia's body.
Each glanced at the other to make sure the other had noticed.
'He isn't immune to Levia. It's just that he can handle it. The quantity she can pull from him at a time is tiny, like he has natural resistance to her powers.'
"You're planning to teleport us there," Syl said flatly, staring at Levia. "I'm guessing that's your idea."
Levia nodded. "Mhm!"
Akane waved both hands. "No. Absolutely not. We're not letting her throw us wherever she wants. How can we know she isn't trying to separate us? That was her goal with the Golem and the Humans in the first place, separating us!"
"Are you?" Amon asked, turning towards Levia. "Trying to separate us?"
"Absolutely not." Levia said while innocently shaking her head.
"Words don't mean anything when they come from the enemy!" Akane shouted while pointing at Levia, sounding like an experienced war veteran.
"I think we can trust them for now." Amon said. "They're in handcuffs anyway."
"Still…" Akane muttered.
"Your Teleportation Magic requires switching places, right?" Syl asked.
"Yes." Levia answered with narrow eyes. She turned to Amon and smiled again. More like she couldn't help but smile when looking at him. "I can only exchange the location of a person or object carrying my mana with another person or object that also carries my mana. It's safe. No random displacements. As long as I have the energy for it…"
"The energy for it?" Akane repeated, aghast. "Nu-uh. She seemed out of breath just a minute ago. I'm not trusting her."
"Hehe…" Levia's smile turned apologetic. "That wasn' really a question of energy…"
Akane crossed her arms. "You'll forgive me if I don't trust the word of the woman who just tried to capture me."
"She has a point." Amon nodded.
"Hm… Well…" Levia pressed her lips. "I'm sorry. I'm… I'm still figuring things out."
Amon looked at the cuffs binding Levia's wrists for a moment, before opening his hand. The corruption binding Levia shattered into smoke and bled into the ground.
"Amon," Akane warned. "Don't-"
But Levia was already moving, quick and light. She rose, stepped toward them, and reached out. One hand rested lightly on Syl's shoulder. The other touched Akane's knee.
That touch was enough to plant some of her Mana on the edges of their bodies.
"Bye, bye!" Levia said wih a smile.
"Don't-" Akane began.
The world bent, and they were gone.
"Cool." Amon muttered as four unmoving bodies hit the ground right where the four had been standing.
"Hehehe..."
