The Fraud Heir to The Strongest Clan

Chapter 105: Gamble

Angelus easily freed himself by severing his own body and regenerating.

"I thought you were powerless when the oracle said you didn't have a soul. But it seems like we're going to be able to have a bit of fun for a while."

The Demon King glanced at Shina before continuing.

"Well, I guess we will get back to you later. The heavenly lord, Dheinyrus, and I the immortal Demon King, shall turn these lands into our battlefield."

And with that, the Demon King disappeared only to reappear in front of Dhein. His movements were too fast for the human to react to. When he stabbed Dhein in the stomach with his straightened fingers, Dhein could only grit his teeth in pain.

He tried to grab Angelus' small wrist to try and push his fingertips out of his abdomen, but the child raised him up in the air and kicked the ground, launching the two of them up to the ceiling.

Dhein instinctively cast a barrier behind his back to shield himself from the concrete ceiling. He heard the cracks of shattering concrete as they ascended through floors after floors, shattering the demonic castle with their momentum. But beyond the Demon King's small frame on the lowest floor, his eyes never left Shina until he was sure she was safe.

After breaking through the layers of the castle, Dhein's barrier finally served its purpose one last time when they broke through the rooftop. Angelus thrust his hand, hoisting Dhein's body into the sky.

He strained his nervous system and observed Angelus carefully. When he saw that the fallen angel was about to snap, Dhein cast abyssal spears and pierced both of his hands.

As they were both starting to fall down, Dhein outstretched his arm and pointed his palm towards Angelus' face. Then, he used a void cannon to obliterate his corrupted head.

Of course, Angelus regenerated, returning all parts of his body as if nothing happened.

Dhein's body hit the tiled roof of the castle. He rolled down the slope before falling to another layer of the roof.

Meanwhile, Angelus casually landed on his feet and leaped down, attempting to stomp on Dhein's body. He immediately shot another devastating void cannon towards Angelus' body to launch him away.

Dhein stopped rolling, but instead he slid down the sloped roof of the castle. His heart almost stopped beating when he reached the edge and almost fell a couple hundred feet into the ground. He grabbed the onto edge and desperately held on for dear life.

From this height, he was able to see what had happened to Sekhtar. Just within a day after Angelus arrived, half of their progress had reset. He destroyed and killed everything in his path.

While he was holding on to the edge of the tiled roof, Angelus came back with laid back steps.

"Oh? Is that all you've got?" the Demon King asked.

Each second that passed made holding on and carrying his whole weight with his fingers more impossible. And eventually, they gave out.

Suddenly, a small dragon swooped in and caught Dheinyrus by the forearm.

"Remi?!" he exclaimed as the dragon flew him away from Angelus.

After a few seconds, Remi brought him down to the ground with a wide space. The houses were crushed and many dead bodies of demons were scattered everywhere.

Dhein looked around and saw those who survived watching anxiously from the entrance of the castle. They were confused, but hoping that he would be able to finally and truly defeat Angelus this time.

When Dhein saw that Angelus was already flying towards him, he ordered Remi to fly away from here and he immediately obeyed. The dragon safely returned to Shina who was anxiously watching with Fiorelle, Sullivan and the other demons taking refuge at the castle.

Dhein looked down at his abdomen and saw some blood... his blood. He applied pressure using his hand before lifting his gaze at Angelus who was now standing before him.

The Demon King looked at him with an expression of contempt. He then asked.

"How much do you know about the gods?"

With heavy and uneven breathing, Dheinyrus tried to speak.

"Quite a lot."

Angelus nodded.

"Hm, then you already must know how they view their creations... us."

Dhein replied.

"Like how many creators in this world gawk at their craft, they adore and love us, of course."

His words made the fallen angel laugh.

"What is love without respect," Angelus mumbled.

Then he shrugged.

"I'm going to kill Oneirah's human body to give you your soul back. After that, you will destroy this planet's core. Only then will I be able to die."

Dhein's eyelids twitched.

'So that's what he wants.'

Angelus continued.

"I have been searching for a way to die, you see. Ever since I was born. Then, I discovered that my life was linked to the core of this planet."

"I will destroy everything, I will taint everything sacred. Until you develop a desire to end my immortal self. That is what's inevitably going to happen, Dheinyrus."

He cupped his chin with his fingers.

"Hmm, let's see. You won't need your limbs, so I think I'll break them first. Then, I'll have you watch as I disgrace Oneirah's reincarnation in the most humiliating and painful death. I'll make sure you hate me. Yep! Sounds like a good plan."

As soon as the Demon King started walking towards him, a voice echoed inside Dhein's consciousness.

'You need to switch places with me,' Cyreth said.

Dhein swallowed, his heartbeat going haywire.

Indeed, there was no other way to survive this absurd creature than switching to the fallen god. But if he wasn't going to be able to regain his body back, then it would all be pointless anyway. Letting someone as powerful and dangerous as Cyreth loose was even worse than Angelus roaming the world.

Dhein wasn't thinking that Cyreth was evil. But rather, he thought of humans so low that he might disregard their life and wellbeing altogether.

But alas, he didn't have a choice but to gamble. Between surely dying and betting on a chance of regaining his body back, Dhein knew which option to pick.

And so, he switched.
