Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation

Chapter 104: Di Fei

The room of Kyrian was silent.

He remained in silence, eyes closed, breathing slowly, as if still seeking connection with that blank book that had changed his mind.

The clear and cold sensation he had experienced hours ago had already disappeared, but the memory of it still pulsed in his mind vividly.

Suddenly, Kyrian heard three dry knocks echoing on the door outside the courtyard.

He opened his eyes slowly, frowning.

'Who could it be?'

Kyrian left his room, turned his face slightly, observing the room next door through the open partition.

Yanyu was still seated in cultivation position. Cultivating in complete silence and focus.

Her body emanated a soft and cutting, yet stable, pressure. She was completely concentrated, as if she had forgotten the outside world.

On her lap, the small white fox slept deeply, curled up like a ball of snow. Its breathing was calm and steady, with no sign of waking anytime soon.

Kyrian noticed the changes in the little one, her strength was growing day by day, and when she finally awoke, the strength of the small fox would increase many times.

Kyrian then forgot about the two for now and walked toward the door. Before he even reached it, a female voice came from outside.

"Kyrian. The sect leader calls you, the young man has awakened." It was Mei Ran.

Kyrian's expression changed immediately.

The young man awakened.

He did not waste time. He opened the door, finding Mei Ran standing before him. Her gaze was firm, but there was some urgency in her voice.

Without exchanging more words, the two quickly went together toward the hall.

The path was silent, only lit by the few lanterns of the night.

The green rooftops of the buildings below reflected the amber tone of the flame. And shadows danced across the ground as they passed.

Despite the tranquility of the sect, Kyrian felt some expectations, the young man waking up at this moment was good. Perhaps he would understand something about the black mass.

Soon, they arrived at the great hall of the sect.

The heavy wooden doors were already open, revealing the path and the environment illuminated by dozens of green lamps.

In the center of the room, on a simple chair, was the young man Kyrian had brought.

He seemed fragile. Pale face, dry lips, and body trembling slightly as if struggling against an invisible cold. His eyes wandered, confused and full of fear. But without any trace of the black mist that had once possessed him.

Two elders stood on each side, observing his every move. The pressure they emanated was suffocating, like blades ready to cut at the slightest act of hostility.

When Kyrian entered, all eyes turned to him.

Feng Yuan raised his face from where he was seated at the front. His voice resounded calm.

"Good. You arrived. I want you to listen too, after all, it was you who brought him." Said Feng Yuan.

The words made the young man on the chair lift his eyes for the first time in Kyrian's direction. He blinked, surprised.

As if he did not remember Kyrian's appearance, nor how he had ended up there. For him, everyone around exuded such a frightening pressure that it seemed impossible to breathe.

Feng Yuan crossed his hands behind his back and began the interrogation.

"First. Who are you?"

The young man on the chair hesitated, his voice faltered.

"M-my name is Di Fei… I am an inner disciple of the Scarlet Sun sect…"

As soon as the young man pronounced the name of the sect, Kyrian noticed, in a glance, the young man's fists clenched slightly, unconsciously.

Di Fei then raised his head, confused.

"Where am I? Why… why am I here?"

Feng Yuan did not change his expression. But his voice became colder.

"You really don't remember what you committed?"

His presence suddenly increased, filling the air of the room. The young man turned pale, immediately lowering his head in terror.

"N-no, sir! I… I was only fleeing from a person, that was why I tried to leave the Scarlet Domain! I did nothing!"

Kyrian noticed it was clear that the young man now believed he was only being interrogated for having crossed the borders.

Feng Yuan's gaze became even harsher.

"You did nothing?" His voice echoed heavy.

"You commanded a wave of beasts to invade and massacre an entire city. And you even gravely wounded a core disciple of my sect. And you dare say you did nothing?"

The crushing pressure fell upon Di Fei. He began to sweat, his breath ragged.

"I-i-impossible! How could I? I… could not do this even if I wanted to. My strength is too low! I didn't do it!"

His words came out desperate.

Then, questions continued being asked. If anyone had given him orders, if he remembered anything about the black mass. If he had heard any voice.

But the young man only shook his head, confused. He did not seem to be lying.

Feng Yuan then changed the tone.

"From whom were you fleeing?"

At that instant, Kyrian noticed.

The face of Di Fei darkened, and something emerged. A deep, terrible hostility, so dense, yet Kyrian could feel it completely.

It was the same suffocating hostility he had felt when the little fox awakened for the first time.

The young man's eyes trembled with hatred.

"I was fleeing from a core disciple of my sect…"

Kyrian leaned forward slightly.

"Why?"

Di Fei's voice faltered, but the fury in his eyes left no doubt.

"He… used his influence for everything. The sect protected him, no matter what he did. Murders, thefts, humiliations… no one could stop him." He continued, and then his voice trembled more.

"He killed my sister… just because she refused to lie with him."

The room fell silent.

Di Fei's eyes were red, filled with tears and hatred. The hostility inside him seemed to grow with each word. Kyrian could feel it as if it seeped into the air.

Other questions came, but nothing changed. Di Fei did not remember anything about the black mass, nor did he have any clue that could help heal Long Xue.

Feng Yuan closed his eyes for a moment and sighed.

"Enough for today." The leader's voice came firm.

"Mei Ran, find a place for him to rest tonight. Tomorrow we will interrogate him again."

Mei Ran nodded, and the elders took Di Fei out.

The room emptied slowly. Remaining are only Kyrian and Feng Yuan.

The sect leader turned, observing him attentively.

"So. How are you? Feel free to ask whatever you wish."

"You stayed because you wanted to talk with me, didn't you?"

Kyrian did not reply immediately. He only stood still, in silence.

"What did you think of him?" Feng Yuan suddenly asked.

"He did not lie. He truly knows nothing." Kyrian replied, firm and with absolute certainty.

Feng Yuan nodded slowly.

"I thought the same."

Kyrian then sighed, raising his right hand. In its center, a subtle, almost invisible mark shone faintly.

Feng Yuan furrowed his brows.

"And this?"

Kyrian then explained. He told when he felt the strange call to choose the mission. Up to the moment he faced the anomaly of the natural formation.

Feng Yuan listened in silence, thoughtful.

"Strange…" He murmured after reflecting.

"I have never heard of such a thing. So, I cannot help. There are no records in the sect about similar situations." Feng Yuan completed.

Kyrian nodded slightly but did not stop. He then reported about the book.

How he annihilated the black mist in the two situations where he encountered it. And then, in this last one, Kyrian told how the book transmitted to him that translucent energy.

He explained how it made his mind clearer and drastically reduced the limit of his eyes.

This time, Feng Yuan rose from his chair, his eyes more serious.

"This… yes, it makes sense. That book of yours is definitely a soul treasure."

Kyrian raised a brow.

"Soul treasure?"

Feng Yuan nodded.

"The black mass you saw affected only the soul. That's why Long Xue still has not awakened, even if his body was not injured."

"What I believe happened with you was that your treasure must have absorbed part of that shadow and transformed it into energy to strengthen your soul. Strengthening the soul before entering the realm of spiritual awakening is practically impossible. However, your treasure truly can do this…"

The words were heavy.

Kyrian reflected in silence.

Until he said.

"In seven days I will make my breakthrough to the Qi Liberation realm."

Feng Yuan narrowed his eyes.

"Do you need more spirit stones?"

Kyrian thought for a moment, then nodded.

The leader opened his hand, letting a pile of them fall. Kyrian immediately stored them in his ring with a small smile.

"Do you need anything else?" Feng Yuan asked.

"No."

"Great." Feng Yuan suffered slightly.

"I will call you in a few days. It's been a while since we last trained. I want to test your progress. I will also call Tianhai. I believe this will benefit you greatly."

Kyrian nodded and then left the room.

As he walked back, his mind started working quickly again.

'So… the book increased my soul strength…'

'And it seems that, if my soul becomes stronger, the limit of my eyes also decreases. Is this what has been holding me back all this time?'

The thoughts surged within him. Before, he imagined that the limit was due to his physique, for still growing, and then for stabilizing the realm like all the other cultivators.

But perhaps, if his soul was strong enough, he could break through to the subsequent realms immediately.

When he returned to the courtyard, Yanyu opened her eyes. Coming out of her cultivation. She smiled softly.

"Welcome back!"

Kyrian only nodded.

"I will rest for today. Tomorrow I will explain everything that happened."

She did not insist. She only closed her eyes again.

Kyrian just entered his room and fell asleep, leaving his thoughts aside for a moment.
