Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation

Chapter 106: Memory Loss

A heavy silence had fallen in the room where Long Xue was.

Feng Yuan closed his eyes for a moment. Kyrian thought for a bit and then asked another question.

"Do you know who you are?"

This time, Long Xue took longer. Her gaze seemed to grow vacant for a few moments until, in a low and timid tone, she answered.

"Long Xue."

Kyrian and the sect leader exhaled almost at the same time. Feng Yuan let out a discreet sigh, but one of relief.

"That is good. At least some memories remain," Feng Yuan murmured briefly.

Kyrian then continued.

"Do you know where you are?"

She shook her head.

"This is the Verdant Sword Sect. Does that name remind you of anything?" Kyrian asked again in a calm tone.

She shook her head once more.

Kyrian cast a glance at Feng Yuan. The leader's brow was furrowed with worry, his gaze fixed on Long Xue.

"What else do you remember about yourself?" Feng Yuan asked.

The answer was silence.

Long Xue's lips trembled, but no response came out of her mouth. She remembered nothing beyond her own name.

Feng Yuan took a deep breath.

"Kyrian, ask Mei Ran to gather the elders. Perhaps they will know what to do. I will wait here."

Kyrian nodded and began to rise. But the next instant, as he moved away from the chair, a slender hand quickly reached out and grabbed his robe.

Kyrian looked down. It was Long Xue, clutching his sleeve tightly, her fingers gripping as if afraid to let him go.

Her eyes turned to him, filled with a silent plea.

Kyrian lifted his gaze toward Feng Yuan, who observed the scene in silence. The leader sighed.

"It seems she truly fears me, but not you," he said in a low voice.

Feng Yuan adjusted his robe.

"Stay here with her. I will summon them personally."

Kyrian merely inclined his head in acknowledgment. Remaining seated at the side of the bed, while Long Xue's trembling hand still gripped his robe tightly, preventing him from moving away.

In the room, silence once again reigned.

Long Xue, still timid, lowered her face slightly but did not release Kyrian.

He observed her in silence, his eyes narrowing.

Something had happened to her soul. The book had purified the dark energy, but the extent to which that energy had lingered in her mind was enough to cause such an effect.

Some time later, the door creaked open slowly, revealing Feng Yuan returning, accompanied by a single elder, the same one who had examined Long Xue before.

Kyrian raised his eyes, noting the choice. The leader had clearly thought carefully, if too many entered, the newly awakened Long Xue might be even more frightened by the crowd.

The elder was a man with hair almost white, long down to his waist, his demeanor serene and calm, bringing no weight to the atmosphere.

He carried a sword sheath smaller than all others, hanging by his side, and on the other side, there seemed to be a few vials containing pills.

Kyrian had heard that this elder was the best in medical knowledge within the sect.

His eyes turned immediately to Long Xue when he entered the room, and a shadow of surprise passed through them upon noticing that she was indeed awake, and even more, clinging to Kyrian.

"So she really woke up…" the elder murmured quietly to himself.

Kyrian leaned gently toward Long Xue and said in a low, firm voice.

"He will only examine you, there is no need to be afraid."

Long Xue heard him but hesitated a little, her fingers still gripping Kyrian's sleeve. Her eyes then shifted to the elder and back to Kyrian, silently asking for reassurance.

Kyrian kept the same expression as he spoke.

"I will remain at your side while it happens." He assured her directly.

Long Xue took a deep breath, hesitant, but finally slowly released her grip on his robe and nodded in silence.

The elder approached slowly, his steps light, without the slightest hostility. He raised his palm, bringing it close to the young woman's forehead. Kyrian, with his eyes, saw a clear, light-green energy, pure and gentle, begin to expand from the elder's fingers in almost invisible waves.

For minutes, only the sound of circulating air filled the room. Kyrian continued watching intently, his eyes calm.

Feng Yuan also did not remove his gaze from the elder's actions.

Until at last, the energy ceased. The old elder withdrew his hand and stepped back.

"Truly incredible," he began murmuring, and then he spoke.

"Her body is perfect. There are no injuries. No traces of wounds in her soul or body. Not even a trace of the dark energy that once lodged in her soul."

Feng Yuan leaned forward slightly.

"Then why the memory loss?"

The elder then took a deep breath.

"I do not know. Perhaps it is a deep trauma. Perhaps the remnants of the dark energy, even without being in her soul, have affected her. The mind and soul are fragile things."

"It is possible she may recover everything in a few days… but it is also possible she may never regain the lost memories," the elder concluded in a calm voice.

Silence then fell for a few moments.

Feng Yuan closed his eyes, accepting the reality. Kyrian remained firm while looking at Long Xue, who sometimes glanced back at him.

"Understood. You may leave," Feng Yuan said.

The elder inclined his head respectfully and left the room in silence.

Now, only Kyrian, Feng Yuan, and Long Xue remained once again.

Kyrian then turned to the leader.

"And now?"

Feng Yuan set his eyes upon the young woman, his expression serious.

"Now, nothing will change. Long Xue still possesses her cultivation. She still has her strength. And she is still a core disciple of the sect. That will not be taken from her. Even if her old memories do not return, new ones will be built little by little."

Kyrian nodded in silence.

It was then that he noticed something. Long Xue had moved even closer to him while he spoke with the leader. Her body was now at the edge of the bed, almost as if instinctively seeking his presence.

Kyrian frowned and asked directly.

"Why are you not afraid of me?"

Long Xue blinked, surprised by the question. Her lips moved slowly until they released a timid answer.

"I… don't know… but I like your presence."

Kyrian fell silent for a moment, staring at her. Then he turned his face toward Feng Yuan.

The leader sighed.

"It makes sense," he suddenly said in a reflective tone.

"She may not remember anything, but it was you who saved her. Perhaps her consciousness does not know, but the body and the soul… perhaps they recognize it. Instinctively, she feels close to you."

Kyrian did not reply and only looked back at Long Xue.

Feng Yuan continued.

"We must try with other core disciples, those she was closest to. Perhaps walking through the sect may also awaken something within her. But for now, she will remain at rest."

Kyrian nodded again.

He then leaned slightly, freeing his sleeve from her lingering grip. He lightly touched her hand and spoke softly.

"You need to rest. I will return later if necessary."

Long Xue hesitated, her eyes fixed on him, but after a few seconds, she nodded slowly.

Her expression softened, and shortly after, exhaustion won over. Her eyes closed gently and slowly, her body relaxing on the bed until she fell asleep once more.

Kyrian rose from the chair, turning to the sect leader.

"I will take care of this. You may go rest," said the leader.

Kyrian did not argue and simply nodded, left the room, and walked silently through the sect.

The fresh air touched his face as he returned to his courtyard.

The weight on his shoulders eased a little. He knew nothing about Long Xue. He did not know what she liked or what he could do to help her. They had exchanged minimal words since he had arrived at the sect. Saving her soul had already been enough. Now, this matter would fall to Feng Yuan and the others.

It was at that moment, while he thought, that.

Suddenly, he felt it.

A slight burning sensation ran through his right hand.

He lifted his palm and looked at it. Right there, on the nearly invisible mark left by the fragment of the natural formation, pulsed a faint light.

The heat intensified with every second, and along with it, a strange sensation.

Kyrian closed his eyes, trying to comprehend.

And then he felt it clearly, in a single direction. A calling.

Far stronger than any he had ever felt since that mark had appeared.

His expression hardened. The premonition was clear. Something terrible was happening in that direction.

He did not hesitate.

He immediately turned his body and headed toward the stairs to the inner area, stopping only at the stables within.

The guards and caretakers there did not dare question him upon seeing his robes. A direct disciple held supreme authority.

Kyrian entered the large stable courtyard. The beasts rested in rows, some asleep, others flapping their wings restlessly. He did not need to search for long.

In the farthest corner, an eagle raised its head upon seeing him. Its piercing eyes fixed on him, and a sharp cry echoed through the air.

It was the same beast that had carried him and Mei Ran to rescue Long Xue.

Kyrian approached calmly, without fear. The eagle beat its wings, spreading wind throughout the stable. The handlers stepped back, but Kyrian only raised his hand.

The beast recognized him immediately. It lowered its head, allowing him to climb onto its back.

Kyrian wasted no more time. He adjusted his position, held on firmly, and gave the command.

The eagle let out another thunderous cry and beat its wings with force.

The ground trembled as the beast leapt skyward. Within seconds, they crossed over the sect's rooftops and soared into the open sky.

The cold wind cut across Kyrian's face. His eyes narrowed, fixed on the horizon to the south.

The mark on his hand burned ever more fiercely, guiding him without error.

He had told no one. There was no time.

If something truly was happening in that region, he needed to see it with his own eyes to finally understand this mark.

The eagle advanced swiftly, cutting through the skies, carrying Kyrian toward the unknown.
