Chapter 345: Ravik's Breaking Point

The air inside the chamber was thick with the acrid scent of rust, damp stone, and a hint of decay.

Flickering torches lined the walls, hissing and sputtering as they cast erratic shadows that danced ominously in the dim light.

Ravik stood at the threshold, his breath coming in ragged gasps, sweat beading along the edges of his armor.

Only twenty of his men remained, once proud soldiers now reduced to hollow-eyed specters. They'd been whittled down corridor by corridor, trap by trap, until this battered remnant was all that was left.

Before them lay a chamber that resembled the gaping maw of a monstrous beast.

The floor was an intricate patchwork of polished obsidian panels, deceptively solid at first glance.

But Ravik knew better. He could hear the faint groans of hidden mechanisms beneath their feet, the subtle shift of gears buried deep within the walls.

The very air felt charged with tension, as if the chamber itself were alive and watching, waiting for its next victim.

One wrong step could spell doom.

He clenched his fists tightly.

"This is nothing," Ravik muttered under his breath, though his voice cracked with uncertainty.

"Nothing compared to what I've faced before. That bastard isn't ahead of me. He can't be."

His men exchanged uneasy glances but remained silent. They'd learned long ago not to question their commander's unraveling sanity.

"Forward!" Ravik barked, his voice harsher than intended, but he didn't care.

The first soldier stepped onto an obsidian panel. For a heartbeat there was silence. Then it gave way beneath him.

A strangled scream echoed through the chamber as he plummeted into a pit filled with jagged iron spikes.

The sickening crunch of bone shattering and flesh tearing reverberated around them as blood sprayed upward like a grotesque fountain.

The remaining soldiers flinched at the horror unfolding before them, but Ravik only sneered in disdain.

"Pathetic! He hesitated, that's why he died!"

Another soldier swallowed hard and took a cautious step forward.

His panel held firm however, without warning, one beside him collapsed and dragged another man into the abyss below.

There was no scream this time, only a wet thud as skull met blade in brutal finality.

Panic began to ripple among the survivors as they staggered back.

Then chaos erupted within the chamber!

Panels collapsed randomly like thunderous applause for death itself.

Spiked grinders roared to life and shredded bodies into crimson mist while blades shot up like vengeful spirits claiming their due.

The room transformed into a slaughterhouse where survival seemed impossible.

One soldier made a desperate dash for safety, only to have the ground betray him.

The floor tilted violently, sending him tumbling headfirst into an abyss that snapped shut like a predator's jaws.

CRUNCH!.

A sickening crunch echoed through the air, followed by an eerie silence.

Ahhhhhh...!.

Another soldier's terrified scream pierced the chaos as the panel beneath his feet crumbled away.

He plummeted into a dark chute lined with jagged edges.

Ahhhhhhhhh...!.

His cry escalated until it was abruptly silenced, leaving nothing but the chilling sound of flesh being shredded and blood spraying against cold walls in grotesque streaks.

Watching this horror unfold, Ravik's face twisted into something monstrous.

His lips curled back in a snarl, revealing teeth bared in anticipation. His once sharp and calculating eyes now burned with wild madness.

"Yes... yes!" he hissed with glee. "Bastard! Do you see this? Look at how many fall before me! Did you think you were beyond this fate? You'll join them soon enough!"

His voice barely reached his men over the cacophony of carnage around them.

Panels fell like dominoes, each collapse punctuated by screams that faded into sickening crunches and splatters of gore.

Suddenly, a soldier beside him misstepped. The floor shifted again, and a blade shot upward with lethal precision.

n an instant, his head was severed cleanly, soaring through the air before landing with a dull thud.

Pffttttttttt...!.

Blood erupted from the neck stump, showering Ravik's arm in crimson.

Yet he didn't flinch. Instead, he stared at the decapitated corpse and laughed maniacally.

"Better you than me."

The chamber continued its grim feast on his men. One by one they were consumed.

Four soldiers tried to move in formation when disaster struck. Panels collapsed simultaneously beneath them.

They plunged into a pit filled with crushing gears that ground their bodies to pulp within seconds, a gruesome fountain of blood and flesh erupting upwards as horrified survivors looked on in shock.

Ravik licked his lips hungrily as sanity slipped further away.

"Bastard... Bastard," he taunted manically. "You think you're clever? You believe this maze is yours to command? I'll show you otherwise! I will survive! I will take everything from you!"

His voice crescendoed into a manic scream that echoed off the chamber walls.

"BASTARD!"

The remaining soldiers recoiled at their commander's madness, more terrifying than any trap they faced.

One brave soul attempted to flee back along their path but was seized by Ravik's iron grip on his collar and shoved forward instead.

"You go first!" Ravik snarled fiercely. "Show me where it's safe!"

The soldier stumbled onto a panel, feeling it tremble beneath his weight.

For a fleeting moment, it held. Then, with a sudden crack, it collapsed,he plummeted into the pit below with a piercing shriek.

A sickening wet crunch followed, plunging the chamber into an eerie silence.

Ravik stood nearby, grinning like a man possessed, his teeth stained crimson.

"Safe enough," he muttered casually as he stepped onto the next panel.

As they made their way across the chamber, behind them lay a gruesome mosaic of shattered panels, lifeless bodies, and rivers of blood.

Only Ravik and five of his men remained, each clad in armor slick with gore and faces drained of color.

Yet Ravik's expression was anything but fearful.

It was pure joy.

His chest heaved with laughter that was raw and broken, echoing through the chamber like the cackling of a mad god.

"Hahaha... hahaha!"

He threw his head back, eyes wide and wild as blood trickled down his face.

His laughter grew louder, bouncing off the obsidian walls like an ominous melody.

The survivors stared at him in stunned silence, their bodies trembling as if caught in a nightmare.

But Ravik didn't care.

He'd survived this hellish ordeal and he would always find a way to survive.

"Arthur!" he roared suddenly, his voice cracking with unhinged glee. "I'll see you soon! And when I do... oh yes! I'll make you bleed!"

The chamber swallowed his manic laughter whole, carrying it deep into the darkness as he and the last of his men staggered through an archway that loomed before them like an ominous portal.

With a thunderous slam, the door shut behind them.

And just like that, the maze fell silent once more.
