Bai Chu's heart sank as he sensed multiple Great Ascension Realm Demonic auras converging in Bai Zihan's direction.
His sword intent surged violently, turning erratic as worry clawed at his heart.
CLANG! CLANG!
He tried his best but Mó Zūn wasn't an opponent that could be pushed aside just because Bai Chu wished for it.
He immediately sent messages to every Great Ascension cultivator and above within the Bai Clan through telepathy.
"Bai Zihan is in danger! Go help him!"
However, almost all of them were also unable to go and help Bai Zihan.
Bai Tianheng's voice carried heavy battle pressure.
"I'm held down… two Demonic Elders…"
Another message followed, unstable and hoarse.
"Surrounded… These Demonic Beasts aren't giving me any opening."
Then another.
And another.
Everyone was occupied. Even those who were in alliance with the Bai Clan were also bogged down by the enemies.
Even worse—upon realizing Bai Zihan's predicament, the Li Clan, Zhao Clan, and Azure Holy Sun Sect's experts began to deliberately stall their own battles, feigning injuries and allowing their opponents to keep the Bai Clan tied down.
So not only were they being pressured by the Demonic Cultivators—even their supposed allies were blatantly working against them.
Bai Chu's expression darkened.
(It was planned!)
This wasn't a coincidence.
This was a trap—one designed specifically to isolate Bai Zihan.
And in that fleeting moment of distraction—
Mó Zūn moved.
His saber screamed as Demonic Qi erupted, striking from an angle Bai Chu would never normally allow.
The blade tore through Bai Chu's defenses, carving a bloody line across his shoulder.
Blood sprayed.
Bai Chu staggered back half a step, forcibly stabilizing his aura, fury blazing in his eyes.
Mó Zūn grinned coldly.
"Battles between experts," he said calmly, "are decided by moments like this. Bai Chu, how dare you get distracted before me!"
It was clear that Bai Chu was worried—distracted—despite his opponent being Mó Zūn.
The same could be said for the other Bai Clan experts.
Thinking that they needed to rush to Bai Zihan's aid as quickly as possible, they became impatient—
And their opponents took advantage of it, striking the moment their openings were shown.
After all, at the level of Great Ascension and above, even the slightest distraction was enough to be exploited.
Even knowing that worrying wouldn't help, Bai Chu couldn't stop himself.
After all, Bai Zihan was their Heir, not to mention the most talented one in their thousand years of history—someone they believed would rise higher than anyone else.
Even if it meant sacrificing Great Ascension Realm experts—or perhaps even Immortal Realm ones—it would be worth it if it was for Bai Zihan.
His value was much more than anyone else.
(Did we make a mistake bringing him here?)
The thought surfaced unbidden.
They—and the other Clan—had brought their geniuses to gain experience, experience crucial for future growth.
Not to mention, they had believed this battle would be manageable with the combined forces present.
But who would have thought that Bai Zihan—a junior—would be targeted so heavily?
Three Great Ascension Demonic Cultvators were sent after him.
And that their supposed allies would deliberately aid the enemy in doing so?
It was like everything in this Battlefield wished for Bai Zihan's demise.
The Bai Clan, who had been dominating the battlefield until now, suddenly found themselves in a predicament and was being pushed back.
The longer the battle dragged on, the greater their worries grew.
Despite Bai Zihan's sudden surge in power and fierce resistance, they didn't believe it would be enough to contend against the Three Great Ascension Realm opponents.
Then it happened—
Three vast demonic auras vanished one after another.
The pressure rolled across the battlefield in a delayed wave, heavy and unmistakable.
Mó Zūn's expression froze.
Bai Chu's breath caught.
Both of them instinctively turned their gaze toward the distant battlefield.
Three severed heads rested before Bai Zihan, the last traces of demonic aura fading from them.
Great Ascension Realm!
Dead!
Even on a battlefield filled with Immortals, the death of a Great Ascension Realm cultivator was rare.
And this time—
It was three at the same time.
Not to mention the one who had killed them.
"Bai Zihan!"
Bai Chu shouted, his voice filled with disbelief, relief, and fierce pride.
Bai Zihan lifted his head, meeting Bai Chu's gaze across the vast distance. He gave a small nod—calm, almost casual.
Bai Zihan had been aware of Bai Chu and Mó Zūn watching him, just as he had been keeping part of his attention on them.
"After the first one," Bai Zihan said casually, "the other two weren't that hard to kill."
Bai Zihan muttered.
One was weaker than the Skeleton Elder while the other was already injured from fighitng him.
It didn't take him much time to kill them with his new power—though it was largely because the two of them were shocked by what they saw, allowing him to take advantage of it.
Mó Zūn stood frozen.
His smile vanished.
His pupils shrank violently.
"What?"
Shock finally surfaced on his face.
He could have understood if it were Void Refinement Elders.
He could have understood Bai Zihan surviving against a single Great Ascension Demonic Elder.
But killing three?
At the Spirit Severing Realm?
Even if he considered that Bai Zihan had increased his cultivation using some strange technique, it was still impossible.
"Haha… Mó Zūn, looks like you underestimated our Bai Zihan!"
Bai Chu laughed.
The loss of three Great Ascension Elders—even for Demonic Cultivators—was catastrophic.
"Underestimated, you say?"
Mó Zūn was flabbergasted.
It was already overkill to dispatch three Great Ascension Elders after someone at the Spirit Severing Realm.
If not for the potential and power Bai Zihan had shown, who else would warrant such a deployment?
And yet—
Even that had failed.
The moment Bai Chu realized that Bai Zihan was not only alive—but had slaughtered three Great Ascension Realm Demonic Elders—something loosened in his chest.
The pressure clouding his judgment vanished.
His sword intent stabilized.
Then—
It surged.
Sharpened by fury.
Tempered by pride.
Strengthened by absolute confidence.
"Mó Zūn," Bai Chu said coldly, "not only has your scheme failed, you've also lost three Great Ascension Elders. How does it feel to have your plan overturned?"
Slash!
Bai Chu's sword flashed.
The strike was clean, ruthless, and far faster than before—no hesitation, no restraint.
Mó Zūn's pupils were constricted.
Clang!
Their weapons collided, but this time the impact forced Mó Zūn back half a step.
His aura wavered.
His rhythm was broken.
The mental shock had finally caught up to him.
And not just here—
Across the entire battlefield, the same thing was happening.
The Bai Clan's Great Ascension experts felt it immediately.
Their desperation vanished.
The urgency bleeding into their movements receded.
Instead—excitement ignited.
Their attacks grew sharper.
Their confidence surged.
"He really killed them."
"At the Spirit Severing Realm…?"
"Who else but Bai Zihan could accomplish such a thing?"
On the other hand, the Demonic Cultivators faltered.
Their movements slowed.
Their coordination fractured.
Three Great Ascension Elders had fallen.
By a single junior.
That realization crushed morale.
Not to mention the massive gap left behind by the three fallen Great Ascension Demonic Elders.
Originally, those three should have dealt with Bai Zihan and then returned to assist in suppressing the Great Ascension experts of the Desolate Heaven Empire.
Void Refinement Realm Demonic Cultivators were currently filling in their absence, barely keeping the Bai Clan occupied—but that was never sustainable.
With the elders dead, those Void Refinement cultivators were doomed.
Bai Zihan stood tall and arrogant.
But it didn't last long.
He had burned far too much Qi using the Heaven's Mandate Reversal Technique, and his body—though resilient—was under strain.
(Damn…!)
A sharp wave of dizziness slammed into his mind.
(As expected—the side effects are too great!)
The Heaven's Mandate Reversal Technique roared one final time before violently receding.
His Qi plummeted, his Cultivation falling from Void Refinement Realm to Spirit Severing Realm.
His vision blurred.
The world tilted.
Blood rushed to his head as his legs lost strength.
Bai Zihan tried to steady himself but failed.
His body pitched forward.
Just before he could hit the ground—
A pair of arms caught him.
"Bai Zihan!"
A familiar voice rang out, sharp with panic.
Chu Ziyan was already there.
She pulled him into her arms, gripping him tightly as his weight sagged against her.
Her usually calm face was pale, eyes wide with worry as she looked down at him.
"Bai Zihan! Can you hear me?!"
Bai Zihan forced his eyes open.
Her face swam into focus.
"…I'm fine," he muttered, still trying to sound arrogant.
"Doesn't look like you are fine though."
Chu Ziyan's hands trembled as she checked his pulse and Qi flow.
Soon, she realized the problem was just an exhaustion of Qi.
Without hesitation, she took out a High-Grade Rank-6 Qi Recovery Pill and brought it to his lips.
Bai Zihan frowned but swallowed it anyway.
He doesn't like eating things given by others though right now he doesn't seem to have much choice.
