Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1664: The Grand Meeting

Having split the Golden Globe into two separate parts and agreeing that Dame should be the one to return to Pagna, there was nothing left to do but wait for the correct day to use it. That day, however, arrived far sooner than any of them had expected.

Not because time had passed normally, but because massive changes were occurring all across Alterian at a pace no one could have predicted.

The fall of the Dark Guild, the exposure of Harvey, the death of Gizin, and the collapse of the Underside were events so large that the world itself seemed to be shifting in response. Governments, guilds, and independent organizations were scrambling to understand what had happened, and more importantly, what came next.

Eventually, Alen's close contacts managed to secure a safe location for them. It was a top-floor penthouse apartment located in one of the city's main districts, far removed from the chaos below but close enough to remain informed. Though it lacked the comfort and scale of the manor Alen once owned, it served its purpose well.

Alen's sister, Aurora, was already there waiting for them, and the space was large enough for everyone to live without being forced into each other's presence constantly. For now, it was safety, and that was all they needed.

Because it was a penthouse, it also had a wide outdoor patio area. Grass covered the floor, artificial but well maintained, and there were built-in areas clearly meant for gatherings and barbecues. It was there, beneath the open sky, that the group decided to say their goodbyes to Dame.

The portal had already been opened.

Golden light twisted through the air as the connection to Pagna formed, familiar yet heavy with meaning. Dame stood at its edge, his body still showing signs of damage from the battle with Harvey, yet his posture remained firm.

Before stepping through, he turned to look at Raze.

They didn't say much. They didn't need to.

Dame's eyes reminded Raze of the words he had spoken earlier, if there is trouble, don't hesitate, return to Pagna. It was both a warning and a promise.

Then Dame stepped forward, disappearing into the light.

Pagna was another home for him. A place where many of the people he had fought beside still lived, many who respected and trusted the Dark Magus. It was where answers about Safa might be found, or at least where the search could begin.

Once the portal closed, silence settled over the patio.

Now that Dame had returned to Pagna, the group could no longer avoid what came next. In many ways, they were more alone than ever. Whatever path they chose from this point onward would define the future of Alterian.

To prepare, they needed to reflect on everything that had already happened.

First, there was the Dark Guild.

The Dark Guild no longer existed, this much had become undeniable. News outlets across Alterian had already reported it as fact, and shockingly, many of them had gathered accurate information about the mastermind behind it.

Harvey.

Reports revealed his position as a police chief and uncovered years' worth of corruption, manipulation, and abuse of authority. However, the public reaction was not as straightforward as one might expect.

Many believed that Harvey had simply taken matters into his own hands after witnessing endless injustice. Some even sympathized with him, arguing that the system itself had failed and pushed him to extremes.

That narrative did not last long.

Several former members of the Dark Guild began speaking out online, claiming that Harvey had forced them into the organization, threatening their families or manipulating their circumstances to ensure obedience. Screenshots, recordings, and testimonies flooded the networks.

It became clear that the Dark Guild was finished, not just in structure, but in identity. Its networks collapsed. Survivors distanced themselves from it. No one wanted to be associated with its name anymore.

Yet despite all of this, the Dark Magus himself remained a complicated figure.

Somehow, reports accurately stated that it was the Dark Magus who had eliminated both the Dark Guild and Gizin. At first, many struggled to accept that idea, but accounts from those who had lived in the Underside began to surface.

Stories of survival. Of protection. Of a figure who opposed corruption even when it wore his own symbol.

Slowly, a distinction formed in the public consciousness.

The Dark Guild and the Dark Magus were not the same.

The Dark Magus was still viewed as someone willing to purge corruption wherever it existed, even within those who claimed to follow him.

Another massive change followed soon after.

The Underside was gone.

Nearly all of its residents, along with the areas affected by the collapse, had risen from below. Entire communities that once lived hidden beneath the city now stood in the open world.

Many guilds led by example, agreeing to take them in and support them using their own resources. Shelters were established. Medical care was provided. Training and education programs were discussed.

Local governments, however, remained silent.

Not because they lacked sympathy, but because they faced a far more urgent issue: the remaining Grand Magus and the Noble Guild.

Across Alterian, governments were in uproar. Emergency meetings were held. Trust in the Grand Magus system crumbled rapidly as information spread.

Blame shifted away from the Dark Magus and firmly onto the Grand Magus themselves.

Everything the Grand Magus had built was collapsing, and leaders around the world began questioning whether the entire structure needed to be dismantled and rebuilt from scratch.

In response, a decision was made.

The Grand Magus would hold a worldwide meeting.

All government leaders, along with the top guilds from around the globe, were summoned. The purpose was simple yet monumental, to decide how Alterian would move forward and what role, if any, the Grand Magus would continue to hold.

This was what Raze and the others were waiting for.
