MIGHT AS WELL BE OP

Chapter 754: Five Seconds

"He is planning on killing him," the First Supreme Monarch's words echoed with a grave tone. The other Supreme Monarchs had already reached the same conclusion, as they had all heard Anthony's words clearly.

They had just returned from avenging a fallen Supreme Monarch, the Sixth, known as The Chakram of End. They couldn't allow another Supreme Monarch to fall now. What would happen to Military Base Alpha-2? Who would preside over it? Besides, losing another Supreme Monarch would reduce their collective power considerably and shake the foundation of their authority.

Without hesitation, the First, Third, Fourth, and Seventh Supreme Monarchs instantly shot forward, each tearing through the void towards Anthony and the Second Supreme Monarch's location in an attempt to prevent the execution they knew was about to occur.

Collins, Michael, and Mitchelle, the Fifth, Eighth, and Ninth Supreme Monarchs, didn't move. They simply watched from their position, faint smiles touching their lips. The fact that the Second Supreme Monarch had dared to make a move against Anthony meant his death was already sealed. There would be no mercy, no negotiation, no intervention on their part.

Anthony lifted the Second Supreme Monarch by the neck effortlessly, the once-feared monarch hanging like a lifeless corpse as he stared at Anthony with madness and hatred burning within his eyes.

Anthony's gaze shifted slightly to the side as he sensed four presences tearing towards him. He knew exactly who they were.

Without missing a beat, Anthony slowly raised his free hand. His index finger extended forward in the direction of the approaching Supreme Monarchs, and a flicker of sword intent ignited at its tip. With a motion so fast that his arm seemed to glitch out of reality for a split second, he slashed.

In that instant, an apocalyptic, titanic wave of destruction erupted forward. Sword intent thundered through the void in a cataclysmic straight line, carving a deep trench across space itself. Reality fractured under its might, creating a vast chasm made of pure void, instantly halting the four Supreme Monarchs mid-motion.

An explosion of blinding, radiant energy tore outward, annihilating every celestial body in sight along the trajectory of the slash. Stars collapsed into dust, asteroids disintegrated, and distant floating debris was erased into nothingness.

As the cosmic dust settled, the void chasm remained, vast and absolute, separating Anthony and the four Supreme Monarchs like a divine boundary that none should cross.

"Anybody who crosses that line," Anthony said, his voice flat and brisk, "will join the Second Supreme Monarch in his transition to the next life."

His tone carried no anger, no malice, it was simply a statement of truth, spoken with the same casualness one might use when brushing away insects.

At his words, the Supreme Monarchs frowned. Although they had intended to save the Second Supreme Monarch, none of them were willing to risk their lives for it. Their immortality was conditional, dependent on their ability to revive using their hidden artifacts and preserved vitality. They were unwilling to even waste those precious resources on the Second Supreme Monarch, who wouldn't compensate them for such a sacrifice.

"Anthony. We have lost the Sixth Supreme Monarch, as you have noticed. We can't lose another Supreme Monarch at this moment. That would reduce the military strength significantly," the First Supreme Monarch stated, attempting to reason with Anthony.

Although there was no killing intent in Anthony's tone earlier, the First Supreme Monarch did not doubt for a single second that the boy would slaughter them if they crossed that line. Besides, the Second Supreme Monarch had been the one at fault to begin with. One cannot strike another and expect no retaliation.

The First Supreme Monarch's mind worked rapidly, searching for a solution that would prevent the situation from spiraling into catastrophe. Pause time? Manipulate time? It would be useless. The child before him also possessed dominion over time. And who knew what other unfathomable cards he had yet to reveal?

"First Supreme Monarch," Anthony's voice came again, his calm sky-blue eyes shifting to meet the golden-ringed ones of the First Supreme Monarch.

"You were the one who approved my last mission, providing the location of the Forsaken Cult headquarters, paving the way for the Second Supreme Monarch to act. You knew of his intentions, but you acted ignorant of it," Anthony intoned, his voice devoid of emotion, as though speaking about a matter unrelated to him.

"Do you know why you aren't joining the Second Supreme Monarch on his deathbed?" Anthony asked gently.

"It is simply because reality functions on the rules of benefit and resources. You gain nothing by interfering with the Second Supreme Monarch's plans to kill me, but you would fracture your relationship with him if you intervened to save me," Anthony continued.

The First Supreme Monarch's eyes narrowed sharply at those words. 'How?' he thought to himself.

He had known of the Second Supreme Monarch's intentions but had chosen not to intervene for the exact reasons Anthony had just spoken aloud. But he could not comprehend how Anthony had deduced it so precisely.

The rest of the Supreme Monarchs turned their eyes to the First Supreme Monarch, suspicion flashing briefly in their expressions. But since Anthony wasn't clearly opposing the First Supreme Monarch as well, it confirmed that he had not been an accomplice.

Anthony's gaze shifted from the First Supreme Monarch to the others.

"If any of you are willing to risk True Death for the Second Supreme Monarch, then step over the void chasm," Anthony said, his voice clear. "I will give you five seconds to decide your fate."

His sky-blue eyes remained calm, fixed on the four Supreme Monarchs before him. Silence stretched across the void, every heartbeat feeling like the toll of a celestial clock.

Five seconds ticked by... each moment stretching into eternity.

For all their might, for all their pride, they knew it well, they feared death. Power knew no age, and before absolute power, all were made to bow.
