Kaiden paused for half a second before breaking into an amused grin, shaking his head slowly. He leaned back in, but not to resume the head pats… Instead, he pinched her cheeks lightly between his fingers. "Contain yourself, woman. You're lucky I barred Alice from sensing things."
As the Dominant Core, Kaiden could restrict Alice's senses while she was in her Conduit form. Of course, he didn't do it just suddenly; he wasn't cruel like that. Alice deserved only the best, which is why the pair had a good talk about this already, and Alice accepted. It was either this or her leaving her Conduit form, so the choice was obvious.
Right now, she was in her blissful ignorance, singing happily.
Having her cheeks pinched instead of her head patted, Calypso purred instantly.
The sound was low, pleased, and far too eager for someone who could barely remain conscious. Her body practically melted at the touch, eyes half-lidded as her demonic tail twitched behind her.
"Darling~ right here, right now?" she murmured breathlessly. "You want to take me when I can barely move? Well… I can't protest. I'm helpless, so go ahead. Do your worst~"
The words sounded like resistance.
Her tone, posture, and entire being absolutely did not.
Kaiden sighed, long and slow, rubbing his temples with one hand. "Whatever shall I do with my perverted demoness…"
"You should-" Calypso began eagerly, already opening her mouth to continue whatever dangerous nonsense was forming.
However, Kaiden placed a finger gently but forcefully against her lips.
She froze.
He leaned closer and lowered his voice as his mouth brushed her ear.
"Tonight, I'll destroy you in ways no monster ever could. This entire day?" His tone dipped lower, darker. "Just a warm-up for what I'll do to you in bed, Calypso. Prepare yourself."
Her red skin darkened instantly, flushing into a deep, vivid crimson that crept all the way up her cheeks and down her neck. Her eyes widened, pupils shrinking as she went completely still, looking a lot like a deer caught in a daze spell rather than mere headlights.
For once, the demoness had no witty comeback.
"O-okay…" she whispered softly, suddenly sounding far more like an innocent maiden than a bloodthirsty infernal creature. Then, with the most girly, weak squeak, she added, "D-Darling…"
Kaiden straightened with a smirk, utterly satisfied, while Calypso remained frozen in place. Overheated, flustered, and very aware that tonight… she was doomed.
And she wouldn't have it any other way.
But then, for a brief, dangerous moment, Calypso's confidence wavered.
Kaiden had already straightened, his posture shifting into that familiar, decisive calm he took on when a battle was over, and responsibilities loomed. He looked… ready to move. Ready to regroup. Ready to leave.
But he should know that she wasn't in a state to walk by herself… So what gives?!
The thought struck her harder than any monster ever could.
'He's not actually going to…?!'
Her fingers twitched against the dirt, nails curling as a cold flicker of doubt slid into her chest. 'Is he really going to leave me here? Broken, bleeding, sprawled out like discarded loot?'
Then Kaiden grinned and lowered himself once again.
Before she could voice a single word - or spiral any further - he leaned down and slid one arm beneath her knees and the other behind her back, lifting her effortlessly into his arms as if she weighed nothing at all despite her heavy armor and, for a far too hot of demonic babe, muscular frame. The sudden shift made her gasp with her eyes widening as the ground vanished beneath her.
He didn't stop there.
Kaiden leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to her flushed red cheek, lingering just long enough to make her breath hitch.
"Did you really think that I'd leave my woman behind like that? Injured. Vulnerable… You should know better."
Calypso's entire face lit up.
Her blush deepened instantly, crimson blooming across her cheeks as she wrapped her arms around his neck without hesitation, clinging to him as if the world itself might try to pull them apart. She leaned into his neck, purring softly, content and safe.
"No… I do know, my love…" she murmured, voice small and sincere. "A dumb monster must've hit my head harder than I thought."
"Good girl."
She instantly responded with suggestive purring right into his ears and then rested her head against him as her breathing finally slowed. In that moment, carried in his arms, surrounded by the fading sounds of battle and the warmth of his presence, Calypso felt something rare settle deep within her chest.
'He's so kind,' she thought quietly. 'To me. To all of his girls.'
Her fingers tightened slightly against his shoulder.
'But when the night falls… when the curtains close…'
Calypso inhaled sharply.
Her heart began to pound.
'The demon comes out.'
Something shifted inside her, subtle at first, then undeniable. Heat pooled in her core, spreading outward in slow, intoxicating waves as the horny demoness beneath her playful bravado stirred awake. Her tail twitched, then spun around Kaiden's waist, holding him close to herself with whatever she could.
Her breath grew shallow.
She trembled.
Leaning harder into him, Calypso turned her face and pressed her lips to his neck, kissing him there. Soft at first, then needier, lingering far longer than innocence allowed. A low, pleased sound escaped her throat as she nuzzled against him, utterly unashamed.
Kaiden wasn't just carrying her away from the battlefield.
He was carrying her straight into a very long night.
And Calypso, trembling in his arms, could hardly wait.
…
Above them, the sun finally dipped below the mountains, and night began to claim the battlefield. But for Valhalla's Sinners, standing together amid exhaustion and lingering danger, it felt less like an ending and more like a promise that tomorrow, they'd be ready to do it all over again.
But first, it was time to evaluate their gains, the good and the bad about their performance, and the standings after the first day of competition. Then have a good, filling dinner and relax for the rest of the day.
All of them felt excited for the future as they began to make their way back.
