Humanity is missing, luckily I have billions of clones

Chapter 244: Upgrade

At this moment, facing the wreckage of the destroyed equipment before him, Tom was filled with excitement.

What was one piece of equipment!

What was important was that he had finally taken this crucial step, finally truly succeeding in bringing the projectile into a strong nuclear excited state!

Although it was not stable enough, and this state only lasted for less than a second before exploding, what did that matter? If it could last for one second, in the future it could last for a hundred seconds, a thousand seconds!

Although his Strong Nuclear Excitation Device was currently extremely inefficient, requiring an unimaginable amount of energy and about ten minutes to bring only one projectile into a strong nuclear excited state, it was far from being able to adapt to the firing rate of dozens or hundreds of rounds per second of a regular energy cannon.

But that didn't matter either; he would continue to optimize it in the future!

Beyond the energy cannon, Tom's materials science technology had also seen a huge improvement.

Also based on a deeper understanding of the Strong Nuclear Force, Tom could directly operate on materials at the atomic nucleus level.

This had already surpassed the chemistry-based materials science research of previous eras, truly entering the atomic level.

Under this technology, a series of materials rapidly emerged. For example, a tougher, high-strength material suitable for the Space Elevator—it could increase performance tenfold while reducing volume and mass tenfold;

For example, high-heat-resistant materials that could even withstand high temperatures of tens of thousands of degrees Celsius. Ordinary chemistry-based materials, no matter what kind, would certainly have been heated into plasma at such temperatures.

This was the origin of the saying, "Above stars, there is no chemistry."

Because stars are too hot, they ionize all molecules. Chemical reactions are molecular-level reactions. If there are no molecules on a star, how can chemistry exist?

And now, the emergence of this high-heat-resistant material broke Tom's previous understanding of being unable to approach stars.

In the future, with further development of material technology, Tom might even be able to park a spaceship directly on a star!

And a new type of material with high electromagnetic wave sensitivity. If it were used in detection radars, its detection accuracy, speed, and depth would all experience significant leaps, or a certain battleship hull material based on the Strong Nuclear Force, which, in calculations, could even withstand the direct bombardment of electromagnetic cannon projectiles without breaking, its strength exceeding previous alloy armors by tens or hundreds of times…

Tom increasingly felt that the Unified Field Formula was like a seed.

It looked like just one seed, so tiny, so inconspicuous.

But once it was planted and allowed to grow, it could grow into a towering tree, bearing countless fruits!

"No wonder the Bluetoth Civilization's retrieved data referred to this stage of civilization as a Strong Nuclear Civilization.

It's truly fitting… all technological achievements of this stage of civilization are almost entirely developed based on the 'Unified Strong Nuclear Force'."

If the "Unified Field Formula" of the "Unified Strong Nuclear Force" is regarded as the first-level core, then at this moment, Tom's energy cannons, energy shields, super-long-range communication, high-speed ion propulsion, and other technologies, which he has initially mastered but not perfected, can be regarded as the second-level core.

At this stage, breakthroughs in both the first and second-level cores have been completed. What needs to be done next is to conduct further, more segmented application-level research based on the second-level core.

At this point, there will be a great many research projects, and the fields will be extremely segmented, and at the same time, the energy and resources required will be considerable.

The early dividends of breaking through to become a Strong Nuclear Civilization have now been almost exhausted. The stage of rapid development has ended, and it is time for gradual progress, pushing overall technological advancement with thousands upon thousands of subtle technological improvements.

However, it is precisely these thousands upon thousands of subtle technological advancements that are directly related to industrial capacity and war capability.

While the early dividends of fundamental theoretical breakthroughs have been exhausted, looking at it from another perspective, it means that the time has come for industrial and war technologies to truly improve significantly and truly enjoy the benefits of theoretical breakthroughs!

Under the manufacturing process of the Flying Star's large package of "rations," billions of clones and tens of millions of Bluetoth scientists were all invested in this great and vast technological development.

Almost every day, at least a thousand breakthroughs in segmented fields of technology would occur.

More efficient temperature control devices, more stable sensors, more heat-resistant materials, less easily broken connectors, and so on and so forth.

Tom's overall technology rapidly advanced under this almost infinite number of subtle technological breakthroughs.

Time flew by under these circumstances, and in the blink of an eye, several decades passed.

Although the Mechanical Disaster fleet still hadn't found him, Tom's sense of crisis grew stronger.

He knew very well that with every passing moment, his danger increased.

And now, after a long period of full-throttle research, he had accumulated enough technology.

Since that was the case… it was time to do that big thing.

Completely overhaul all the technological creations he currently possessed, whether they were large creations like aerospace carriers, large transport ships, warships, scientific research vessels, or small technological creations like a satellite, a refrigerator, an air conditioner, or communication terminals used by clones—all of them were to be melted down, all materials recycled, and all rebuilt!

A comprehensive upgrade from Electroweak Civilization stage technological creations to Strong Nuclear Civilization stage!

Such a thing, if done within a star system, would also be grand, but relatively ordinary.

After all, every civilization goes through such a stage.

But now, in the vastness of space, this matter seemed so unusual.

There are no material or energy replenishments in space; undertaking a comprehensive upgrade and replacement here would be insane, wouldn't it?

But for Tom, nothing was impossible.

Because I have the Flying Star! This Flying Star currently has about 50 trillion tons of mass remaining, enough to support my complete upgrade and replacement!

Having initially completed the technology development mission, Tom first began the upgrade and replacement of industrial facilities.

Under the full operation of the existing industrial facilities, a new generation of factories was rapidly built.

And, as a portion of the new generation of factories was built, a portion of the old factories would be shut down and dismantled, with all their materials being melted down and remanufactured.

Ultimately, all old factories were replaced by new ones.

With the upgrade and replacement of the industrial system completed, especially the construction of dozens of super-large metal recycling and smelting factories, the ship dismantling work immediately began.

One massive ship after another was not destroyed by enemies but by Tom himself.

Huge aerospace carriers, heavy transport ships, and even warships, etc., were all dismantled piece by piece and thrown into smelting factories.

On the other side, new ships were being produced one after another.
