I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan

Chapter 388: Rescue

"Is there a problem?" Xia Liang asked.

"No problem at all." The village chief forced a smile, then hurried over to Zhang Cuihua and began to earnestly persuade her.

Unsurprisingly, Zhang Cuihua refused. She and her relatives started causing a commotion again.

"If you want to get past me today, you'll have to kill me first!" Zhang Cuihua shouted, brandishing her hoe.

"Heh. Truly courting death." Xia Liang's gaze turned icy. He began to pace back and forth at the village entrance, as if searching for something.

"Sir, what's that person doing over there?" a young Protector asked, watching Xia Liang's bizarre behavior.

"Just keep watching and you'll find out," the older Protector replied dismissively. In truth, he had no idea what Xia Liang was doing either, but he had to maintain his knowledgeable facade in front of his subordinate.

Xia Liang kept his head down, searching the ground for a while before stopping in front of a small pit.

"Found it."

He nodded, stood beside the pit, cleared his throat, and called out to the villagers. "Fellow villagers, have any of you heard of the 'Tortoise Backs Bearing Gold' feng shui formation?"

The villagers blocking the entrance looked at each other, puzzled.

"Tortoise Backs Bearing Gold?" one asked.

"Don't you remember? That old man who showed up here covered in blood?" another replied.

"Oh, right! I remember now! We even sent him to the hospital."

"He said that to thank us, he set up a feng shui formation here called 'Tortoise Backs Bearing Gold'."

The villagers began to whisper among themselves as many of them recalled the incident.

"And isn't it true that ever since this 'Tortoise Backs Bearing Gold' was established, all of you have prospered?" Xia Liang continued.

"Now that you mention it, that does seem to be the case."

"Ever since that Stone was placed at the entrance, my family's business has improved a lot."

"You're right! Since then, no one's dared to owe me money!"

The villagers murmured in agreement, their memories stirred.

"All of you have made a fortune and enjoyed a period of prosperity," Xia Liang said, placing one foot on the edge of the pit. "However, I believe that powerful feng shui should only benefit the kind-hearted. Those who aid the wicked are not worthy of it!"

Xia Liang produced a copper coin. An inconspicuous golden light flashed from the coin before he pressed it down over the small pit.

"Break!"

A stream of energy, visible only to Xia Liang, surged into the Destiny Deficient Copper Coin in his hand. The watching villagers could only stare with wide eyes, unable to comprehend what kind of trick he was performing.

"It's all smoke and mirrors."

"He isn't actually an idiot, is he?"

"He gave me a scare earlier. I actually thought he had some real skills, but it turns out he's just not all there."

Suddenly, a piercing howl echoed from the village. In the next instant, countless dogs began to bark and chickens began to squawk. The racket was so loud you'd think a banquet was underway.

The hearts of the villagers skipped a beat. A single thought appeared in all their minds: pandemonium. Xia Liang remained standing where he was, the coin by his foot glowing faintly in the soil.

He had just used the Destiny Deficient Copper Coin to shatter the nexus of the area's feng shui, rendering the 'Tortoise Backs Bearing Gold' formation useless. The prosperous energy that had gathered in Zhang Family Village began to dissipate along with it. Animals are the most sensitive to fluctuations in feng shui, which was why the pigs, sheep, chickens, and dogs had all become so agitated the moment it was broken.

"What in the world is going on?"

The young Protector's jaw nearly hit the ground.

This can't be explained by science at all, he thought.

"There's still a lot you don't know," the older Protector said, squinting as he took a drag from his cigarette. "The next time you encounter an extraordinary person like him, remember to be more humble."

He patted the young Protector's shoulder.

"Yes, sir."

The young Protector swallowed hard. He felt as if he had just stumbled upon an entirely new and unseen world.

Zhang Cuihua and the crowd of relatives behind her turned pale. They had never witnessed such a bizarre scene.

"Don't you think that physiognomist messed with our village's feng shui?"

"It looks that way! Why else would all the animals be in an uproar?"

"Oh no, this is terrible!"

The relatives began to discuss the situation anxiously.

"Cuihua, what's happening?" her aunt asked, gripping a broom.

"He must have done some kind of trick! Don't be scared," Zhang Cuihua yelled. "He said the feng shui brings wealth, right? It's not like the money we already have in our hands can just grow legs and run away, can it?"

She knew this group of relatives was her greatest support. Just then, the village chief's phone rang. He glanced down and saw it was a call from his son.

"I'm busy, call me back later!" the village chief snapped into the phone with a frown.

However, what his son said next made the village chief's face turn ashen.

"What?! That family is raising the bride price to five hundred thousand? Are they marrying their daughter off or selling her?!" the village chief bellowed.

In the moments that followed, more and more villagers' phones began to ring.

"Boss Zhu, you promised me the sunroom project! Why are you backing out now?"

"Everything at home is flooded! I told you to make sure the water was off before you left!"

"The boss skipped town! Who's going to pay me for a year's worth of work?!"

Wails of despair rose from the crowd behind Zhang Cuihua as, one by one, they all suffered financial losses. Xia Liang watched it all unfold with a cold expression, feeling not a shred of sympathy.

When a beneficial feng shui formation is broken, a backlash is inevitable. The village chief hung up the phone, his lips drained of color. He stared blankly at Xia Liang, a flicker of terror in his eyes.

He was finally beginning to understand just how terrifying a physiognomist could be. With a single copper coin, this man had shattered the feng shui that had protected Zhang Family Village for decades.

Some of the other villagers also snapped to their senses. They started pointing at Zhang Cuihua, cursing her furiously.
