I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 140: Battle in the Woods

The explosion took hold of him and the shrapnels flew right at his head. A black cloud of smoke enveloped the masked man's head.

Siderius didn't stop there. He would only stop once the enemy was in pieces. The hunter loaded another Explosive Projectile and sent it to the masked man.

This time, the masked man no longer dared to break the clayball. His eyes shone through the cloud of smoke, one pair of bright pink eyes. With it, a shockwave spread out and sent the second clayball away.

The projectile exploded far away, no longer posing any threat to the masked man.

The cloud of smoke dissipated, revealing a wall of semi-transparent pink magic that shielded him from harm. Most of the shrapnels were stopped in front of the wall, floating in the air.

However, some did get through before the masked man was able to set up his defense. His shoulder was bleeding. The blood soaked the dark robe on his body, filling it with the eerie smell of blood.

The masked man grabbed his shoulder and looked at Siderius.

"A fire witch? That uniform!" The masked man recognized Siderius.

Siderius covered his face with the scarf. But anyone that was familiar with the hunter should realize that it was him right away. It was one of a kind in this world and no one had the second pair of uniforms.

"White witch…" The masked man muttered.

"You know me?" Siderius loaded his hands with five arrows, ready to unload them onto the masked witch.

"I should have known that it was you. The Baron did ask you for help with the Phantom." The masked man said.

"You know a little too much, cunning witch. You must be someone in the Baron's estate." Siderius squinted his eyes.

The masked man knew he had revealed too much and shut his lips. He pointed at Caterina and ordered her to unleash a wave of wind magic at Siderius.

He hid himself behind one of the trees. "This isn't how you use wind magic."

Siderius unloaded the five arrows to either side of him. He already had the location of the masked man inside his head. The arrows flew in curved lines, aiming at the general location of the masked man.

In the masked man's eyes, Siderius made those arrows go in a curve because of his magic. There were no other reasons. The masked man dashed away from his location in a panic, avoiding three of the arrows.

The remaining twos were blasted away by Caterina.

Siderius used this chance to move away from his cover and hid himself from the eyes of the masked man. Once more, Siderius preyed on the woods in silence. The masked man had completely lost sight of him.

"Wind magic?! That's why the arrows came from everywhere. And that clayball… Fire magic? How can you have two types of elemental magic at the same time?"

The masked man clenched his jaw. His two hands trembled a little bit from fear. He was a schizomancer, a witch that worked best behind the scenes. He was not the type to face his enemies head on.

Siderius didn't answer. He liked to make his enemies confused.

Wind magic? Fire magic? The witches of this world get too comfortable thinking every miracle comes from their disgusting magic. Siderius thought silently.

Suddenly, Lycan jumped out from a bush near the masked man and bit into his bleeding shoulder. The attack was so sudden the masked man didn't have time to react at all.

"What are you?!" The man screamed. He pounded onto Lycan with his bare hands but it didn't do to the thick skin of the wolverine.

This only made the man more panic. He had not seen a wolverine before in his life.

Lycan's sharp teeth bit into the masked man's bones. A crisp crack sound was heard. The man roared in pain.

The new sensation woke him up from his stupid act. He had magic, he shouldn't use his hands to get rid of the beast. His eyes lit up again and this time, Lycan was pushed away.

In its mouth was a piece of flesh of the masked man. Lycan rolled a few times on the ground but stood up quickly and went into one of the pushes. One could not underestimate the toughness of a wolverine. It had walked out from the bite of a grizzly bear many times.

"What is this beast? Is this some kind of beast magic?" The masked man mumbled.

Then, he heard the noise of something splitting the air near him. It was the noise of an arrow. Lycan had distracted the masked man enough for Siderius to land a kill shot.

The masked man didn't have any chance to react. He wasn't quick enough to move his head to the arrow direction and use his telekinesis magic.

The arrow pierced through his skull and with it, the lifeless body fell to the ground.

The whiteness retreated from Caterina's eyes and she fainted. Lycan quickly dashed out from the bush and stopped right where Caterina fell down to. It became a natural cushion for the old witch.

Siderius revealed himself from the bush and slowly walked toward the masked man. He passed by Lycan first.

The hunter squatted down and petted the head of the wolverine. Its flesh was really durable, Siderius couldn't find any visible wounds on its body at all.

"Good boy. You really are smart."

The wolverine squeals gently, communicating its enjoyment to the pet.

Siderius placed Caterina leaning on a tree while he examined the body of the wolverine. No visible wound didn't mean fine. But Lycan was truly unharmed. Siderius checked its entire body and only found a little bruise caused by the pink shockwave. The punch from the masked man didn't leave any marks at all.

Wolverine was a relentless animal but the durability of Lycan truly had exceeded social norm.

"It seems like not only have you become smarter, your body is stronger too."

Siderius then approached the lifeless body on the ground. He didn't come into contact with it and stayed at least a few feet away.

"Are you dead?" Siderius mumbled. The body stayed lifeless.

Then he laughed. "I've met witches like you, before. Witch of Nightmare…"

As Siderius blurted it out, the body spurred up and lunged at him. Its eyes shone bright pink light that went through all the veins on its body.
