That night, Jude was more agitated than normal. He sat there, on the throne of his Baron's estate, his legs trembled intensely and his hands were cold as ice.
His stomach growled, yearning for food that he could never taste. The most forbidden, unimaginable kind of food.
Mana. Flesh. Grotesque figures. The more hideous it was, the more Jude wanted to eat it.
He had made everything to become his menus. In return, his hunger saw everything as consumable.
Siderius stepped into this memory fragment. His silhouette was distorted and blurry. The vengeful hunter wasn't actually here. He was only a visitor to a time long passed.
Then Caterina appeared. She was beautiful.
Long raven hair and a dress of pure black. Her eyes were dark as the night and magic flowed through her veins like a river. Her skin was smooth and youthful. She had not become the old lady that barely able to form sentences Siderius met.
Caterina approached Jude and patted his head. Her fingers went through his hair, providing a warm and gentle sensation to the unstable Baron.
"The hunger... I can't control it..." Jude's lips trembled.
"You can, my love. You can. You have to endure until we can get a Purple Tear." Caterina caressed Jude's face gently. She lifted his chin up to match her gaze. "Once you consume it, you will become a Lesser Witch. The only free Lesser Witch in all of the Westlands. Then we will rule the Westlands together."
"Can your mentor help us to get it?" Jude said. His voice was still shaking.
"It is a far chance. But if she can't help us, we can still go to the Tree of Woe."
"The Tree of Woe. The Tree of Woe. Hahahaha." Jude started to laugh uncontrollably. He laughed so hard his entire body was shaking. It was as if he couldn't stop himself.
Caterina's fingers immediately bent. A dense black wind fell upon Jude's shoulders and pinned him down.
Caterina had much greater control over her magic when Siderius faced her. She was not at her best and her mind fractured. Caterina at full power was much more dangerous.
She wasn't a genius like the wind-element witch Siderius had encountered but she knew how to compress the wind well and used it in a more creative way.
But then, Jude opened his mouth wide.
The corners of his mouth tore open and his jaw hung loosely to his face. There was no blood.
His body grew taller and his belly grew bigger. All the wind was forced into his mouth and disappeared.
"You?! You can eat magic, now?" Caterina immediately stepped back.
Previously, she had always been able to hold Jude's back. But now, it was an entirely different story.
Jude didn't answer. He continued to laugh.
The Baron dropped down on all four. His spine popped backward, becoming a curved arc. The entire estate was twisted because of his magic. The walls grew closer and ceilings dropped lower.
Caterina clenched her right hand, releasing a gust of magic throughout the estate, returning everything back to normal. Her magic pulled everything back into normal, preventing Jude's attempt to distort reality.
"Stop this nonsense, Jude!" Caterina shouted.
But the Baron did not hear her. Instead, he growled. His jaw opened wider and shot out a dog-like snout. His hands grew thick sharp claws with fins connected to the fingers. His skin formed a hard layer similar to a shrimp. A small wing popped out behind his back.
More and more traits appeared on his body. Even the trait of objects. The skin of a shrimp was fused with layers of rock, metal and even dirt. His hair turned into haybale and needles.
"You are what you eat, huh..." Siderius watched everything and commented.
Gluttony was rather a rare desire back in Siderius' old world. But it always came down to two types of magic. One was the conversion of power. Gluttony witch would eat people, monsters to fuel their own desire and mana. The second was the conversion of traits. This type of witch retained the trait of things they ate.
Jude was very creative with his desire and turned almost anything to a food source. This helped him to gain all kinds of traits from everything. However, this also made him very unstable compared to a normal witch that ate only people or beasts.
Caterina's face turned pale. A ball of black wind appeared in her hand. "Snap yourself out of it, Jude. Do not make me do this!"
Jude wasn't there anymore. The only thing left was a hungry corrupted beast.
The creature of many things had grown to be the size of a bear. It stormed at Caterina and swung its diamond claws at her.
Caterina threw a wind ball at him while wind carried her feat to back away.
"Oh? She did know how to use wind magic to an extent." Siderius commented.
The correct way to use wind magic was to fuse it with your body and let it carry you in the battle. Caterina knew how to let it carry her.
The wind ball was compressed many times. When it impacted on Jude's body, it exploded into shockwaves after shockwaves and sent him flying straight up to the ceiling.
His hard head went through the wooden roof and his body stayed motionless for a while. However, Caterina's eyes still had panic. She knew it wasn't done.
Suddenly, the creature of many things removed it from the roof and dropped down. In mid-air, it twisted its hip, causing its upper body and lower body to split in two, its fish-like spine connecting the two together.
The upper body launched itself toward Caterina in a blinding speed. Her eyes poured out as much magic as possible to the surrounding floor.
The wooden floor raised up to stop the creature. But it went through it like paper.
Caterina used this chance to fly to the window. Jude had gone completely out of control. She couldn't hold him anymore. She needed help.
But she didn't have a chance.
Jude's left hand detached itself. The bone extended like a spring and launched the hand at Caterina.
A pair of black wings burst out of Caterina's back. Her skin was filled with black feathers.
The Black Witch spun herself in the air. Sharper and much more dangerous gusts of winds shot out from under her wings. They cut into the flesh of the hands, hoping it would be pushed back because of the pain.
Ordinary feelings had left Jude's mind long ago. The only thing left inside him was the hunger. His hand did not slow down and he caught Caterina's hip.
Jude had become much bigger. His entire hand was able to wrap around her entire body like she was a doll.
Caterina's struggle was futile.
