I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 147: High-Grade Sigils

Siderius moved so fast. It looked like he disappeared from his location.

His body skidded in the air, splitting the wind into two white gusts behind his back. There was no blur because the eyes of the ordinary human couldn't process such speed.

Nora simply saw Siderius disappear and the next moment, a giant hole was created on the left wing of the raven. Its black feathers scattered to the air and it screamed out in pain.

"Unbelievable." Nora mumbled. Witch servants could also enhance their physical prowess. However, they were no match for the current Siderius. His ability had transcended what a human could do.

When Siderius approached the raven, he immediately felt the effect of the eroding mind wave exuded from the beast.

A negative invisible wave that carried a huge amount of sorrow and regret. It hit on the reflective surface of the Mirror Armor, trying to penetrate into Siderius and corrode his mind.

The Mirror reflected the mind wave, keeping it out of Siderius' precious mentality. He flexed his left hand, the S.Y.S.T.E.M. was materialized on his wrist as a bracer with shiny metal color.

Siderius' actual system had a silver color, very similar to what he was wearing now. But they were different. The metal on his bracer now was brighter, shinier and exuded an unexplainable aura.

This was not a silver system but a platinum system.

Alchemist's main three ranks were Silver, Gold and Platinum. Siderius' original system had the highest rank, the ultimate Platinum S.Y.S.T.E.M.

Siderius raised his palm toward the raven. His five fingers bent slightly and rotated anti-clockwise.

"<Photon-Desmo>!" Siderius simply muttered.

Immediately, bright orange cords appeared around the raven and attached themselves onto the beast. The raven fell onto the ground immediately. Its high-pitched shriek filled the courtyard.

Siderius closed his left fingers. The cords tightened on the raven's body, the orange energy bit into its flesh like a blade.

The owl suddenly appeared behind Siderius. The owl had a silent flight ability. It was able to sneak up behind Siderius without making a sound.

The hair on Siderius' body stood up. All of them pointed at the owl behind him. It was one of Siderius' mutation abilities. He didn't need to turn his head back. Instead, he hurled the sword backward, slashing on the owl's face.

Blood shot out of Fluff. Its red dense blood dissolved into the ground like this very place was absorbing Fluff.

The owl wobbled backward. Pain overwhelmed its senses.

Siderius activated another sigil. His left index and middle finger stretched out, his thumb bent. Then he formed a fist with his left hand. A seal materialized slightly in front of his knuckles.

"<Photon-Bloso>!"

An arrow made out of pure orange light appeared on his left hand. He punched his left fist forward, sending the giant arrow toward, aiming at the brain of the owl.

The owl reacted fast. It dragged its entire body to the side, trying to ignore its pain. However, the arrow was too quick. It pierced through the shoulder of the out and continued flying without stopping. The owl was split in two vertically. Half of its body fell on the ground and slowly submerged under the dirt.

Siderius could feel the psychosis retreat from his mind and the essence of the beast slowly fused with him.

The remaining half of the owl was still alive. It tried to balance on one leg but quickly fell down, squirming on the ground like an ugly worm.

Siderius gave it no time to react. He flung himself forward again. The blade dragged in the air and cut through the neck of the owl, completely putting it out of its misery.

The bloody remains of the owl laid motionless on the ground. They slowly submerged underground as the rest of it.

A black gust of wind blew over Siderius. He snapped his head back to see the raven turned back into Caterina. Her small frame allowed her to get out of the binding.

She was back to her original size but there were still raven traits on her body. A beak on her nose, wings as her arms and a pair of bird feet.

"Hmmm? You're able to turn back to human?" Siderius had no worry at all. He strode leisurely toward Caterina.

Caterina flapped her wings, trying to get far away from Siderius.

"Who are you?! Leave me alone!" She said.

Siderius stopped at where he was. He raised one side of his eyebrow.

"Are you conscious?" He said.

"Conscious? Of course I am conscious, you freak! Why do you want to kill me?"

Siderius smirked when he heard that. Between the two of them, it was ironic that the bird lady called him a freak.

Caterina landed on a tree in the courtyard. She couldn't remember much about what had happened but she did remember the helpless feeling when facing Siderius. It was as if she was a mouse standing in front of a predatory cat.

"I don't want to kill you. But you have lost your mind. What is the last thing you can remember?" Siderius sheathed his sword. He made no attempts to approach Caterina.

It was not easy for her to regain a stable mentality. He did not want to ruin that.

"The last thing I remember?" Caterina's expression darkened. The memory flooded back to her.

For her, it was only a few months ago that she had seen Jude eat their son. Caterina bit her lips so hard it started to bleed.

"Focus!" Siderius shouted. "Whatever you think you know, it is no longer true. I am Siderius Satterblade. Your son died fourteen years ago."

"Fourteen... Fourteen years?" Caterina's lips trembled.

She looked down at her wings. They returned back to a pair of human arms. She saw the wrinkles and marks of time on her skin. She was no longer the beautiful Black Witch. She was an old ugly hag.

Caterina touched her face. She wept in desperation as she realized the state she was in.

Witches were immortal. It was hard for any witch to accept that they had lost their youthfulness forever.

Siderius started to walk toward her. "Your son became a phantom. He was wreaking havoc inside Scalize. I was hired by your husband to deal with this phantom. He didn't know the phantom was his son.

But I found out that the phantom uses Jude as an anchor. It haunted him. My investigation brought me here. It brought me to you."

Caterina looked around in panic. "Where is this place? I don't recognize it."

"This is a fictional space in my mind. You can think of it as a spell. I constructed a spell to read your memory.

You were completely crazy out there and I couldn't ask you anything. Jude did not want to tell me about what happened.

To deal with the phantom, I must intrude into your mind."

"I see... I can't believe Jude is able to hire someone as powerful as you, high lord. You must be a Major Witch, right?

Your power is incomprehensible.

My son... he..."

"His soul is trapped within the realm of the living. I ask you, Caterina Fataliyah, Black Witch of the Woods. Do you want me to save him?"
