I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 270: The Long Night

Siderius arrived at Xonder's house.

It had been wrecked into ruins. The door was slashed open and left three long claw marks visible to the doorframe.

Many bodies lay on the ground. Body parts scattered everywhere. A hand there. A foot here. Heads lay around like pumpkins.

Siderius looked around, examining the environment. Xonder picked a good place. The house was covered in thick foliage of trees, limiting as much sunlight as possible. This place was dark in the day and even darker in the night.

Moonlight couldn't even reach the house.

Siderius' dark pupils expanded. His golden eyes turned dark, activating his night vision.

Siderius got off Red and patted its back. "Get out of here, Red."

The horse neighed softly in response. It didn't want to leave but it knew that it must.

The crimson horse dashed away, leaving Siderius alone in the woods.

The hunter took out a bottle of Bael Thorn and darked it. His nerves immediately became numb.

[TOXICITY +10]

[TOXICITY LEVEL: 10/125]

"Hah… Unfortunately I don't have any Blood Toxification. That would make this battle much easier."

Siderius pulled out the filter of his mask and put in a new one. He grabbed a Toxic Bomb from his pouch with his left hand.

Then. The hunter slowly approached the house. His steps froze when he heard a song.

Siderius turned over to see a small girl sitting in the garden. She wore a white dress tainted with blood. Her entire body was illuminated by a few moonlight beams shining through the trees.

"A crack of twig, a distant growl, the path once clear.

Has started to fade.

The kindly sun, bathed in light, the warm once bear.

Has started to grayed.

In tangled branches and darkened space.

No north or south, no east or west.

Just endless faces, that start to pray…"

"Haunting tunes." Siderius said.

His right hand was placed on the handle of Blazing Soul. The fireswitch was already flipped over.

The girl chuckled. Her laugh was innocent and light. A naive tone coming from a nightmarish outlook.

She stood up and faced Siderius.

"How brave you are. Coming here at night." The girl whispered under her breath. Her voice echoed throughout the woods.

Siderius squinted his dark eyes. "The night isn't your only playground, vampire."

He pulled out the sword. The bright orange flame ignited and illuminated the area around Siderius.

"Do you have what it takes to survive, swordsman? These men weren't."

"Not just survive, vampire. But also to kill you."

The girl laughed again. Her voice went higher, like a shriek of the wind.

"We'll see. We will see, brave swordsman."

The girl extended her fingers. The fingernails extended into the length of a shortsword.

She opened her mouth wide and hissed, revealing a pair of long sharp fangs. Her fangs were much longer than Xonder.

This was the true monster that haunted Pannitha.

The vampire turned into a blur and rushed at Siderius.

The hunter threw the bomb in his hand to the ground. It immediately exploded.

A thick cloud of green smoke covered the entire area in front of the house. However, it didn't cover Siderius at all. His figure was still easily visible because of the flaming sword.

The girl smirked gently. She pushed through the cloud and approached Siderius. He claws slashed at him.

Siderius swung the sword into a curve, blocking her claws and pushed them to the side. He connected it with a horizontal strike at the body of the vampire.

The vampire was quick. The quickest enemy he had faced since coming to this world.

It didn't simply dodge the strike but circled around him and sliced at his abdomen.

The claw got stuck onto the piece of gray armor. The ghoul skin had done its job and protected most of Siderius' vital organs.

However, the claws were still able to slash a few spots where the armor didn't cover him. Blood splashed out like a water fountain.

Siderius redirected the sword at the vampire again, connecting his strike flawlessly.

The vampire jumped backwards, completely evading the sword.

It licked the blood on its claw.

"Delicious. You have the best blood I have tasted since ages." The vampire cackled.

Siderius breathed out. He held the sword with two hands. Eyes stayed fixed on the vampire.

The hunter rushed at the vampire. His flaming sword painted an orange stroke in the air.

"You can't hit me, swordsman!" The vampire got low and ran on four legs.

It completely went under Siderius' blade and sliced his legs on its way out.

The claws caught onto the armor and were repelled away.

"What piece of armor. I haven't seen this type of armor ever. The last few nights I killed all have steel armor. It made them slow and predictable.

Yours are as strong as them but you're so quick."

Siderius ignored the vampire's words. He and it kept dancing in the cloud of smoke.

The vampire didn't understand why this stupid swordsman kept fighting in this smoke. It could locate him because of his bright sword.

But the swordsman couldn't spot it.

Then it felt a stinging burn on its body.

The vampire looked down and saw the blood on its body was slowly corroding its skin.

"How?"

Siderius smirked under the mask. Vampires do not breathe because they aren't alive. The toxic cloud couldn't get into its lungs and poisoned it.

But the cloud reacted to water. It did not need to be inhaled in order to be turned into acid hydrochloric.

Blood contained a large amount of water. When it was exposed to the cloud, it turned to the spirit of salt and ate the vampire from inside out.

The burn was so harsh that it made the vampire squeal.

"Cunning swordsman. So this is why you bait me into the cloud."

The vampire rushed out of the toxic cloud. It wasn't stupid. It refused to play Siderius' game.

The hunter drew the <Esturo> Sigil in the air. The dazing feeling flooded to the vampire's mind, slowing it down for a few seconds.

"Eat this, bloodsucker!" Siderius shouted.

He grabbed a Phosphorus Bomb and threw it at the vampire. He didn't have time to use the sling so his hands would be fine.

The Phosphorus Bomb exploded. A blinding white light took over the place. The blue flame of the Phosphorus invaded the body of the vampire.
