I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 272: The Cold Night

One of the townsmen fell on his butt. His eyes were wide open and he pointed his hands at Xonder.

"You?! Didn't you die?" The townsman trembly said.

Xonder rotated his neck. "My death was greatly exaggerated."

Xonder stepped forward. His naked feet dragged on the stone floor of the church.

"RUN!" Rea shouted.

A vampire couldn't enter any building without invitation. But Xarles already welcomed Xonder in. The church was no longer safe.

Rea ran to the closest window and threw her entire body through the glass pane.

The townsmen reacted a bit slower but they snapped out of it once they heard Rea. A few ran further into the church. Some threw themselves out the windows like Rea.

Xonder took a deep breath in. He could breathe. He wasn't a full vampire. He wasn't a lesser vampire either.

Any vampire would be killed the moment it entered the sun. He was something else.

"Milla would love to drink you all." Xonder walked toward a townsman.

He was fast. Not as fast as the vampire girl but much faster than an average human.

He grabbed a townsman by the throat. The townsman punched Xonder in the face but he was unfazed.

Xonder put more force into his hand and broke the man's neck in half. His lifeless body fell to the ground.

"We will need to find a better place to settle down soon."

Xonder sighed deeply. "There aren't that many places as ideal as Pannitha. That fucking witch caused all of this..."

Xonder continued on his rampage. His fingers straightened as he plunged his hand through the chest of another townsman.

Xarles didn't run away. He sat on the floor, waiting for his death.

"Finally, I can rest."

Xeros sat and prayed. "Mother Trees... Mother Goddesses..."

Xonder killed many people. So many that he didn't bother to count anymore.

Then he reached Xarles.

"That witch told you about our secret?" Xonder said.

Xarles nodded.

"Why did you let me in?"

"I grew tired of saving these people." Xarles said.

Xonder grinned widely. "I will kill you now."

"Before you do that, I do have one question."

"Go on."

"How were you able to enter people's houses at night?"

"I am the healer of the town, ain't I? Everyone welcomes me to their home."

Xonder plunged his hand through Xarles' heart. Blood flooded to his clothes and painted them red.

Xarles coughed out a splat of blood. His head fell lifelessly to the side.

Xonder threw Xarles to the side and looked over to Priest Xeros. The priest had ended his prayer and looked directly at Xonder.

"Just do it." Xeros moaned softly. He closed his eyes and waited for his death.

Xonder patted Xeros' shoulder. "I won't kill you. You're the one that helped us when we moved here. You have always been kind to us."

"Us?" Xeros' eyes snapped open and stared at Xonder. "Your daughter died twelve years ago, Xonder. Who is 'us'?"

Xonder smiled. "My daughter died, Priest. But she is still in this world."

Suddenly, the man felt the utmost pain in his chest.

"Daddy! Save me!" Milla's voice echoed in his ears.

Xonder snapped his head toward the direction of the voice. "Milla!"

The man dashed out of the church.

On the other side of the town, Milla the vampire ran for her life. The blue flame covered her entire body.

Most of the Phosphorus had burned off. If she was human, she would have already been dead. But vampires could regenerate their body. The Phosphorus fought with her innate healing ability, burning the flesh that kept growing back.

"Milla!" Xonder shouted with pain in his voice.

"Daddy! It hurts. It hurts!"

Phosphorus couldn't kill her. But it still caused her an unimaginable amount of pain.

Behind her was Siderius riding on Red. He took out the sling and slotted in a Pellet Bomb.

The sling spun in the air, causing the high-pitched screeching sound.

Xonder reached Milla's location. He ignored the flame and pulled her closer.

"It's alright, baby girl. I'm here now."

"Daddy! It hurts. Make it stop!"

Then Xonder saw Siderius and the flying Pellets Bomb. He spun Milla, putting her behind him while he turned his back to the bomb.

The projectile exploded into hundreds of hard Brick Beans. The spherical pellets shot through Xonder. Countless holes appeared on his body. Some of the pellets reached Milla on the other side.

She cried out like a child. Xonder was in extreme pain but he did not move an inch. He let the pellets carved holes out of his body.

His hands never let go of Milla.

Siderius jumped off the horse and pulled out the flaming sword.

The Phosphorus had burned off completely, revealing the girl underneath. Her skin turned into the black color of charcoal because of the flame. It was slowly returned to its original color because of her healing ability.

"Get the fuck off her!" Siderius said.

"No! Leave us alone!" Xonder shouted.

"Then you will die with her!" Siderius raised his blade.

Priest Xeros rushed to the scene and stood between Siderius and the pair of daughter and father.

"Wait! You can't just kill her!"

"Get the fuck away, Priest Xeros. Or I will kill you too." Siderius growled.

Xeros shuddered in place.

"Why?! Why do you want to kill us?! We didn't do anything wrong!" Xonder shouted at the top of his lungs.

"We never kill more than we need. We help you with your diseases and ailments. We did everything we could to avoid bloodshed.

She didn't do anything wrong. She didn't do anything... She only needs blood to survive."

Xonder started to sob toward the end.

Siderius lowered his sword slightly. "We are humans. You aren't. You keep us healthy so you can feast on our blood.

It is the same as pigs. We raise pigs so we can eat them later. Unfortunately for you, us humans are much more dangerous than pigs."

"So what?! So what if we did? You would have died without my help, my knowledge and healing ability.

We help you live longer and in return, we only want your blood. Is that so wrong?!"

Siderius smirked. "It isn't wrong. This is just the survival of the fittest, Xonder. I won't allow a species that can threaten humans to exist."

Mila opened her mouth wide and bit into Xonder's neck.
