I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 284: Back to Scalize

"Well. If that is what you want." Anthony played with the brim of his cup. "I can certainly arrange this for you. For a price."

"No price. You owe me." Siderius said.

Anthony laughed out loud. "I don't owe you shit, Baron! My father is also a Baron, don't you know? Killing contract of my guild is a common thing. And I can't just give my members away."

Siderius squinted his eyes. "Consider your next words very carefully."

"Calm down, friend. How about this? No coins. I saw that you have a slave behind you. She looks very nice. If you allow her to serve in the building for a night, maybe I will consider."

Siderius rushed forward without replying.

The other soldiers reacted and came to Anthony for help. Siderius roundhouse kicked the first one, sending him flying to the side. He elbowed the second soldier, dropping him instantly.

Siderius flipped the fireswitch over and drew a fire stroke in the air, pushing all the remaining soldiers away, painting a clear way to Anthony's throne.

"You?" Anthony got up and intended to run but Siderius already grabbed his throat and lifted him up like a doll.

"You did not consider your words carefully."

Siderius' red eyes shined even brighter. He infiltrated Anthony's mind. He immediately drooled like a rabid animal. His hands swirled chaotically but he couldn't get out of Siderius' grasp.

Siderius quickly found what he came here for. He threw Anthony to the side.

The bastard regained consciousness and rolled a few times on the ground.

"I have given you enough courtesy to end this in an easy way. You have disrespect my goodwill. Consider this a small warning."

Siderius turned around and walked to the stairs.

Anthony wiped his mouth and roared. "Stop him! Stop that man!"

All the soldiers turned to Siderius. Their trembling hands clenched their weapons tight. Siderius froze in place and turned around.

No one moved. No one dared to move. They disobeyed Anthony's soldiers. A Baron was a witchling. No one here could face a witchling and walked out alive.

They're afraid of Anthony. But they're afraid of a witch more.

"Smart." Siderius said and left. No one stopped him.

"Stop him! Fucking useless bastards! What am I even paying you for, huh?" Anthony roared but still, no one listened.

"My lord. Please. For all of our safety, please shut up."

Anthony slammed his fist on the floor. "This will not be the end, Satterblade!"

Siderius didn't answer. He had already left with Rea.

"Is it okay to leave him like that, my lord? I'm afraid he will try and get you back." Rea said.

"If he does, it will be the end of him and his father. What I did was still in the realm of acceptance of the Royal Court. If he's smart, he will ignore it. If he doesn't, I will have all the right reasons to kill him." Siderius smirked.

They got back up on their horses and ran out of Paratus.

If he came a little bit earlier, everything wouldn't have been so easy. Just not long ago, a lot of witches had come to Paratus to trade with Anthony. They wouldn't come right out and fight Siderius, but his goal would not be easily fulfilled just like this.

The brief moment that Siderius held Anthony, he had already found the list in his head and found the assassin in question.

His name was Javier Klein. Coincidentally, he had just moved to Scalize after the assassins all left Mucktown.

It was time to give Jude a visit.

Siderius spent a few more days travelling on the road. With Rea by his side, travelling was less boring and cumbersome. She helped him a lot, setting up camps, hunting for something to eat, and looking after their horses.

Siderius taught her how to use the bow efficiently. She really didn't have a lot of talent in anything. But she worked very hard. Every time there was an opportunity, Rea would practice her archery. She improved slowly but consistently. A rate of which Ashe couldn't compare to.

Ashe learned faster. Rea learned harder. Rea did everything to the best of her abilities.

A week later, they found themselves in the Crossroads Inn outside of Scalize.

"Jayce, my friend! How have you been?" Siderius entered the inn.

Jayce the bartender and owner of the Crossroads Inn welcomed him with a smile.

"Siderius! Haven't seen you for a few months! How did winter treat you?"

"Not so bad. I spent most of the time in the South so it was much less colder."

"Ah… The south. I had some opportunities to go to the south a few times when I was younger. The ground there is very fertile and rich. They grew all types of plants there."

"They sure are. I visited the Foglight Forest once. That place is sprouted with green."

"What do I get you and the lady?"

"Just a mug of ale for me. Rea, what do you want?"

"Water is fine, my lord."

Jayce quickly fixed them up with two mugs of ale and water. The ale was as bad as ever but it was a taste of which Siderius was familiar.

"Lord Satterblade… You did say that if there is any problem. I can ask for your help right?"

"Why are you being so formal all of a sudden? Spills the bean, Jayce."

Siderius took a large chunk out of the ale and answered. Rea sat quietly beside him.

"There is a monster bothering the trade route these last few weeks. They said that it was a giant wolf."

"It steals sheep or what?"

"No. Not sheep. It goes inside the town a few days in a month and murders people. The Baron sent some soldiers to help but he wasn't able to catch the beast yet. He also had a lot of things to do lately."

"What do you mean?"

"You don't know. Lady Caterina fell sick. Very sick. The Baron is trying to find anyone that can heal her. I heard that he was ready to leave soon to find a cure for her. But… you know, a Baron can't just leave his territory."

"I see. Well. Don't worry, Jayce. I will find this beast for you. But in exchange, I also need your help. Do you know anyone living in Scalize by the name Javier Klein?"

"I do." Jayce nodded.
