"Help! Help! So many Fierce Beasts, so many Fierce Beasts!"
"Help! Help! Somebody save us!"
"The Fierce Beasts are coming, run! Run!"
"Don't chase me! No!"
On the streets of Yu Feng City, hundreds of people were frantically running forward, glancing back as they fled.
Just one or two hundred meters behind them, more than a dozen gray rats were chasing; they moved on all fours, swift as the wind. The distance of one or two hundred meters was closed in just a blink, and they pounced on a few stragglers.
Heart-wrenching screams followed, accompanied by the nauseating sound of chewing.
"Huff, huff..."
The people at the front glanced back, feeling their scalps go numb but also breathing a sigh of relief.
They were ordinary city dwellers who suddenly learned of the Beast Tide, and quickly followed others to a nearby shelter.
Because once the Fierce Beasts outside broke through the city walls and entered the city, if they remained in their buildings, they wouldn't survive. They would be like canned food waiting for the Fierce Beasts to open. Thus, with enough food and water, hiding in underground spaces might give them a chance at survival.
What they never expected was that even the underground spaces weren't safe.
A large number of Fierce Beasts suddenly emerged from underground and started a massacre. Six or seven out of ten people in the shelters died, and the rest had to flee.
Who knew, even on the streets, there appeared large numbers of Fierce Beasts. Some of the beasts, smelling them, charged and started slaughtering them.
"Run! Keep running!"
Someone shouted loudly.
At that moment, the road ahead suddenly exploded with a bang, rubble flying everywhere. An earthworm-like Fierce Beast, over twenty meters long, lunged out from the underground with a fierce aura.
"This!"
The crowd was so terrified they stopped in their tracks, looking up with faces full of astonishment.
What was this creature?
Was it a Fierce Beast?
This beast was almost as tall as a ten-story building.
"Roar!"
The worm-like Fierce Beast suddenly opened its mouth, four or five meters in diameter, revealing a circle of sharp steel teeth, then plunged down, swallowing more than a dozen people in front of it.
The sound of chewing began, and blood flowed from its mouth like a small creek.
"This, this..."
Someone, scared pale, sat down on the ground with a thud, a puddle of liquid slowly forming beneath them.
Most around them were similar, their minds seemingly frozen, standing foolishly in place.
Only a few remained clear-headed. Seeing the path ahead blocked, they tried to escape in other directions.
But the next moment, two more similar Fierce Beasts burrowed up from the ground, swallowing another thirty people on the spot.
These two Earth Dragons were slightly smaller than the first, but they still stood about six or seven stories tall.
They worked together with the first, surrounding the people on the ground, trapping them in the center.
"Damn! It's the Three-headed Earth Dragon!"
An approaching figure, seeing this, turned pale.
The Earth Dragons, mutated from earthworms, could move freely underground. Even when they surfaced, their bodies covered in hard scales made them difficult to deal with.
These three Earth Dragons, all around ten meters in size, were clearly Commander-level Fierce Beasts. Especially the one in the middle, nearly twenty meters long; its strength was close to that of a Beast King-level Fierce Beast.
"Damn it, three Commander-level Fierce Beasts are too much for me alone. I need to call for help." The man gritted his teeth and quickly left.
He was indeed a B-level Awakened, but under normal circumstances, a B-level Awakened killing a single Commander-level Fierce Beast was already quite difficult, let alone three.
However, Commander-level Fierce Beasts posed a significant threat. If not dealt with swiftly, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Soon, over a dozen Awakeners arrived and engaged in fierce combat with the Three-headed Earth Dragon.
The same scenes were playing out in various parts of the city.
Only, in some places, resistance was taking place. In others, it was one-sided slaughter.
Every second, hundreds or thousands of people fell, staining the ground with blood. The air was thick with the scent of blood.
Meanwhile, at the city walls, the situation was even more harrowing.
Fierce Beasts surged from all directions like an ocean, and the forty to fifty-meter-high walls were filled with breaches. Innumerable Fierce Beasts swarmed through these gaps into the city, turning the buildings along the streets into rubble.
At the forefront of the beast horde, tanks blocked their path. Numerous Martial Artists and guards, wielding machine guns, fired frantically, barely holding the Fierce Beasts at bay.
On the city walls, cannon fire roared, and shells fell like raindrops into the Beast Tide below.
Each shell could explode and kill or wound dozens of Fierce Beasts.
Yet, facing the endless Beast Tide, it seemed to make no difference.
"City Lord."
On the city walls, someone spoke with a troubled expression, "If this continues, we won't be able to hold out."
"It wasn't supposed to be this bad. A million Fierce Beasts, our Yu Feng City could defend against. But who knew, at such a critical moment, an enormous number of Fierce Beasts would appear within the city, forcing us to divert our top fighters to deal with them. If not for this, the walls wouldn't have breached so quickly!"
One person slammed their fist on the battlement, speaking in a tone of bitter resentment.
