The Magnificent Son-in-law

Chapter 147: Little Princess Mu Shihan

In just a few days, the Shen Group finally declared bankruptcy and liquidation as they could no longer cover their expenses, leaving the giant that had dominated Jiangcheng for decades as nothing but history.

The people of Jiangcheng were all shocked and found it unbelievable, but that was all. For the average citizen, the collapse of the Shen Group did not have any substantial impact on their lives.

As Xiao Feng put it, it used to be thirty years on the east bank and thirty years on the west bank, but in today's fast-paced era, three years on the east and three years on the west is more than enough.

Moreover, most people overestimated the importance of the Shen Group. Many listed companies worth billions have collapsed just like that, not to mention the Shen Group was far from reaching that level.

Inside the police station, Lu Yao walked up to Xiao Feng and handed him a sheet of A4 paper: "We've found the location. It's at a ranch in North Brabant Province, Netherlands. The specific coordinates and latitude and longitude are on here, but there's no way to determine how long they'll be staying there."

"Alright, I'll head out now. During this time, please take care of Mu Shihan for me," Xiao Feng said as he got up.

Ever since Lin Jiaxuan left the police station, the little girl had been feeling downcast. If not for Song Keren, Shi Jiaxin, and the people in the police station cheering her up from time to time, she might have fallen ill from the gloom.

"You should tell her yourself," Lu Yao said with a wry smile. "It's obvious the little girl really relies on you. Even if you're only gone for a few days, you can't just leave without saying goodbye."

Xiao Feng thought for a moment and felt that Lu Yao made sense. The most important thing was that Mu Shihan, despite her seemingly obedient demeanor, had a strong mind of her own. If he left without a word, who knew what she might do.

When Xiao Feng found Mu Shihan, the little girl was resting her chin on her hand, deep in thought: "Brother Xiao Feng, has sister Du Qingyue not woken up yet?"

Xiao Feng was stunned, not expecting the little girl to ask about Du Qingyue. He shook his head and replied, "No, but she's out of the critical period."

"That's good!" Mu Shihan let out a sigh of relief, yet still appeared heavily burdened.

Before this, the little girl regarded Du Qingyue as a "rival in love." But now that something had really happened to Du Qingyue, she found no reason to gloat and couldn't seem to cheer up.

"If Du Qingyue never wakes up, brother Xiao Feng would be really upset, right?" the little girl thought silently.

Little did she know, whether or not Du Qingyue wakes up, Xiao Feng might not be sad, but he'd definitely feel guilty, as this whole situation started because of him.

"Shihan, I need to go on a trip for the next couple of days. You'll stay at the station for now, and I'll bring you some treats when I get back. How does that sound?" Xiao Feng negotiated.

"What do you think?" Mu Shihan glared at him: "Where are you going? What are you doing? You haven't told me anything and you want to just leave me behind. Am I just a burden to you?"

Xiao Feng said helplessly, "I wouldn't dare treat you as a burden."

"Then tell me, what am I to you?" Mu Shihan pressed on.

Xiao Feng pondered for a moment, observing Mu Shihan's expression as he replied, "Little princess?"

"Ah!" Mu Shihan instantly brightened up: "Say it again, let me hear it."

"..." Xiao Feng was speechless. Had he known a simple 'little princess' would cheer her up, he wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of finding other ways.

Now that the little girl was happy, Xiao Feng felt a sense of helplessness, as though being a hero left without a use, but at least he could keep her stable, and that was a relief.

Mu Shihan earnestly said, "Go on, I'll take good care of myself and make sure to visit the hospital frequently. By the way, when will you be back?"

"Quickly, in three to four days, and at most not more than a week," Xiao Feng answered.

"Then go ahead," Mu Shihan waved her hand.

...

Twelve hours later, the plane landed in the Netherlands. And all the way, Xiao Feng had been sleeping, determined to keep himself in peak condition as much as possible.

Getting off the plane, Xiao Feng took a bus to North Brabant Province. After getting off, he was faced with a vast expanse of green pastures.

It must be said that the pastoral scenery of the Netherlands was truly charming. Along the roadsides, herds of cattle and sheep lay on the grass, basking in the sun. Once satisfied, they wagged their tails and lowered their heads to graze, exuding a leisurely disposition.

Here, people and nature coexist harmoniously, beneath azure skies with windmills turning, even the wind carries a distinctive scent.

About three miles out, Xiao Feng finally encountered a young woman wearing a straw hat. After a quick glance around, he approached and asked in English, "Excuse me, how do I get to Breda Ranch?"

The young woman frowned, looking puzzled.

Xiao Feng realized and repeated in Dutch, "Hello, is Breda Ranch nearby?"

This time, the woman seemed to understand. She turned around and pointed into the distance: "About five kilometers left, there aren't many people there, it's easy to find."

"Thank you!" Xiao Feng expressed gratitude and proceeded in the direction the woman had pointed.

However, just as he was about to pass the woman, she suddenly flicked her hand downward, and a dagger slipped from her sleeve, rapidly stabbing towards Xiao Feng's heart. At such close range, even if he dodged the vital spot, he wouldn't escape unscathed.

But just as excitement flickered in the woman's eyes, she suddenly felt excruciating pain piercing through her back. The dagger could no longer advance nor retreat.

In the next moment, the woman took a look at Xiao Feng, who remained unharmed, and then at the crimson spreading across her chest, disbelief etched in her eyes before she collapsed onto the grass…

Xiao Feng looked at the woman's lifeless body, his gaze devoid of any pity.

In fact, when he first encountered the woman, his alertness was already high. The moment she flicked her hand, he was certain she was a sentry from the Devil's Concentration Camp, responsible for surveillance.

The reason was simple, Xiao Feng and the woman met for the first time, without any grievances. Yet, the woman attempted to kill him instantly after he mentioned "Breda Ranch," clearly indicating her murderous intent was triggered by those words.

A half-hour later, Xiao Feng, following the coordinates, reached Breda Ranch. The woman hadn't lied; indeed, it was the only ranch around, leaving no possibility for mistake.

"Aren't you going to come out yet?" Xiao Feng said coldly.

After a moment, the surroundings remained eerily silent. Besides the sound of the wind blowing, not a soul was in sight.

Xiao Feng stepped into the ranch, and as soon as he did, the sharp whistling of the wind reached his ears. He didn't waste any time checking, immediately stepping back and simultaneously kicked out.

"Bang!"

After a dull thud, Xiao Feng finally saw the attacker—bristling with a beard, blonde hair, blue eyes, a typically Western face, yet extraordinarily muscular.

"You're a Yanhuang, right? The boss anticipated you coming to meet your end, so we were prepared," the bearded man said sinisterly while stretching his body: "Remember my name, Adrian. You should feel honored to die by my hand!"

With that, the man who called himself Adrian said no more, pulling out a revolver aimed at Xiao Feng, ready to pull the trigger without hesitation.

At a critical moment, Xiao Feng swiftly pulled his hand from his pocket, releasing a handful of dry soil as he spread his fingers, sending it flying towards Adrian.

With its low-lying terrain and the North Sea's winds year-round, the Netherlands had Xiao Feng standing with his back to the wind direction.

Adrian, apparently unprepared for Xiao Feng's move, instinctively raised his arm to block the incoming soil. What Xiao Feng needed was merely this fraction of time.

Two seconds later, Adrian collapsed in a pool of his own blood, his body writhing like a worm on the ground. Xiao Feng did not immediately finish him off but instead smiled dangerously at the ranch before him.

He had every reason to believe those inside must have witnessed this scene.
