The Magnificent Son-in-law

Chapter 149: Taste This

The night fell, and the field was brilliantly lit by stars.

Herds of cattle and sheep returned to their resting places in groups, with the warm and gentle moonlight guiding their way. Everything seemed so peaceful.

Yet at this moment, an angry roar erupted from Breda Ranch, breaking the tranquil atmosphere.

"Who the hell did this?!"

Inside the ranch's kitchen, John Fos stared at the pot full of cattle and sheep dung, his eyes almost spitting fire.

Someone replied with a grim expression, "It wasn't us. If we had thrown dung into the pot, we wouldn't be able to have dinner ourselves, right?"

"I know who did it." John Fos's face twitched: "Yanhuang, it must be him. Big sister told us to be vigilant on the periphery. Who was responsible for the vigilance outside?"

The person who spoke earlier looked helpless: "The ranch is so big, even if we all go out on guard, it's hard to ensure there are no loopholes. If Yanhuang wants to come in, it would be almost easy for him."

"Does that mean we can't have dinner now?" John Fos furrowed his thick eyebrows and then decisively said, "Start cooking now, and we'll guard outside the kitchen. If we can't guard the whole ranch, surely we can guard a single kitchen, can't we?"

The person's eyes lit up, and then they gathered more people. In no time, over thirty people showed up, each armed with a machine gun outside the kitchen. They were standing almost shoulder-to-shoulder in defense, with two even defending the rooftop, making the defense remarkably tight!

Yet just when everyone thought it was foolproof and they could finally eat a hot meal, a loud "boom" came from inside the kitchen. The people outside felt the ground beneath their feet tremble!

The two on the rooftop were almost thrown off.

"What the hell is going on?" John Fos swore, shoving the kitchen door open, and was dumbfounded by the sight inside.

The others hurried over, only to see the one in charge of cooking, whose face now looked as black as an African's, hair standing on end as if he'd just been electrocuted.

"What happened?" John Fos waved away the dust in the air, asking angrily.

The one responsible for cooking seemed bewildered by the explosion, putting his hand to his ear: "What did you say? Speak up a bit."

"The instructor is asking what happened." Someone said impatiently.

"Why are you moving your lips with no sound?"

"I said, the instructor is asking what happened?"

"A bit louder, I can't hear."

For a moment, there was chaos in the ranch.

After much fuss, the cook finally regained his hearing and pointed at the stove: "I just threw a stick in there, and suddenly it blew up."

Looking at the stove turned to ruins, and then at the pot with a hole the size of a bowl in the bottom, everyone suddenly thought, this must be Xiao Feng's doing again.

"This is provocation!" John Fos said with a gloomy face, "Otherwise, you'd already be blown to bits. But since nothing happened to our people outside, Yanhuang definitely didn't have any powerful explosives, so everyone be attentive. Carry any weapons you can. We mustn't give him another chance."

The people around solemnly agreed, though they couldn't have a hot meal, they wouldn't starve, as everyone carried compressed biscuits and such rations. The taste wasn't great, but it was better to have something to eat than nothing.

"After eating, we'll take turns to rest, half sleep the first half of the night, the other half sleep later. I'll take the first watch." John Fos stated aloud, unwilling to be awakened from a sound sleep, so he volunteered for the first watch.

Those assigned to the later watch quickly returned to their rooms in groups of three or five, only to be stunned as soon as they entered: "What the hell, come and see!"

"What happened again?" John Fos was genuinely at his wit's end with these incessant incidents, couldn't there be a moment of peace?

However, when he arrived outside the house, he was just as dumbstruck as everyone else.

After a long pause, all kinds of angry curses erupted, and if you listened closely, there were no less than seven languages.

Usually, everyone spoke English for convenience, but now their oaths were in their native tongues, showing just how furious they were!

The cause was simple: their beds were layered thickly with cattle and sheep dung, the stench suffocating. Sleeping on it was out of the question.

Needless to say, this had to be Xiao Feng's doing, a collective realization for everyone.

First the pot was filled with dung, now the beds too, making it hard for everyone to accept that such a despicable person existed!

What a damn scumbag!

In an instant, Xiao Feng's previously fearsome image in everyone's mind was completely overturned...

"Damn! I really regret not shooting that bastard!" John Fos gritted his teeth, with everyone else feeling the same way.

If someone were to ask them now, what was their biggest regret in life, the unanimous answer would be: not killing Xiao Feng sooner.

Little did they know, if Gao Tian were still alive, he would be shocked because before facing Xiao Feng, they never even dared to question Su Yuzhuo's orders.

But after encountering Xiao Feng, their resolve was somewhat shaken, which even John Fos himself might not have realized.

At this moment, Xiao Feng stood up on the rooftop: "Try this out!"

Saying so, he lit the pack in his hand with a lighter and threw it down.

The people on the ground, including John Fos, immediately panicked. If that thing exploded, there wouldn't even be time to escape.

So, before Xiao Feng's package even hit the ground, everyone quickly dispersed, keeping their distance.

"You guys aren't very loyal." Xiao Feng shook his head, commenting, "Didn't you say dying for that crazy woman was your life's glory? Your words sound nice, but your reactions are quite honest."

John Fos couldn't help but open fire immediately, riddling the rooftop with bullets and creating a line of holes in an instant, bricks flying but Xiao Feng was nowhere to be seen.

With no cover, Xiao Feng naturally wouldn't be so reckless, but with cover, it was different. Having a moment to buffer, he was confident he could escape, even turn the tables and kill a few.

Avoiding the bullets, Xiao Feng poked his head out and said, "Just a reminder, it's best to sleep with one eye open, otherwise I might appear in front of you in your dreams and kill you in your sleep!"

With that, Xiao Feng left, but his words left a heavy shadow on the hearts of John Fos and the others.

Now, as the most authoritative figure in the ranch, John Fos felt immense pressure.

In the past, everyone fought their own battles, a habit, but Xiao Feng was clearly a foe beyond individual capabilities. Even after losing their weapons advantage, everyone together might not be able to take him down, so they must work together.

John Fos could ignore others' lives, but he couldn't disregard his own. Now, with over thirty people, losing one meant one less, when everyone was dead, how could he survive?

Thinking about this, John Fos suddenly couldn't help but feel ironic. In any organization, they would be elites, but in front of this Huaxian, they seemed so fragile.

Just at that moment, someone suddenly remarked, "What smells so bad?"

Another person sniffed and looked disdainfully at the tall thin person beside him: "Yesterday you said you had diarrhea. Did you not hold it in and mess yourself?"

The thin tall guy was instantly enraged: "Bullshit! You're the one who messed themselves."

That's when someone realized something was amiss.

The package Xiao Feng had thrown down after lighting it on the rooftop was still burning, and it seemed the foul odor in the air was emanating from there.

Even noticing something odd, no one dared to check recklessly. If it exploded when they got close, that would be disastrous.

John Fos was also a bit suspicious. He had seen various bombs, big and small, but one that burned for so long without explosion, while also releasing a stench, was something he had never even heard of.
