Xie Jun's eyes suddenly snapped open, his body leaping to its feet from the ground as if by reflex.
Blue sparks flew from his body. The two superalloy electromagnet longswords strapped to his back shot out, hovering in midair. Their tips spat snake-like arcs of electricity, giving him a sliver of security.
PHEW—
Xie Jun immediately scanned his surroundings, his gaze not relaxing until he spotted the figures of his four companions.
"What on earth just happened?" someone in the team asked, still shaken.
Everyone's gaze turned in unison to the two who had previously descended into the underground chamber.
One of them, a Gold Bear man with an ordinary appearance, spoke with a complex expression, "As soon as we went down, we detected Spatial Energy fluctuations beneath the underground chamber..."
"Spatial Energy?!"
Upon hearing this term, the pupils of Xie Jun and the others instantly contracted.
Almost instantaneously, they understood what they had just experienced.
Spatial transference technology had always been one of the research team's most coveted projects to decipher from ancient Evil God Secret Realms.
This mysterious power, not yet fully comprehended by humanity, had, to some extent, been tamed by certain ancient Evil God civilizations.
Through specific runes, arrays, and Spells, they could achieve spatial transference over a certain distance.
However, only an extremely limited number of such Spatial Transfer Arrays existed within Evil God Secret Realms. Those that remained undamaged and still functional were even rarer, let alone still active.
Who could have imagined their small group would stumble upon one purely by chance?
No wonder the two who went down earlier had been so overjoyed at first.
Similar experiences were not unheard of among Yellow Bear members who had explored Secret Realms before.
Although the strange and unbelievable situation left Xie Jun and his four companions baffled, they were all seasoned members of the Secret God Group. After a brief surge of emotion, they quickly regained their composure.
"Our priority now is to figure out where we are," someone said.
Another fiddled with the communicator on his wrist and frowned. "There's still no signal. It looks like we haven't left the Secret Realm."
"The coordinate positioning is still affected by the Spatial Energy; it hasn't returned to normal yet," another reported.
Xie Jun looked away from his own communicator, surveyed their surroundings, and said calmly, "Let's do a quick sweep of the area first."
The other four silently nodded.
The place where they had awakened was also a dimly lit room, similar to an underground chamber.
The ground beneath their feet still bore strange, indecipherable runes and patterns.
After recording their surroundings and thoroughly examining the room, the five of them completely abandoned any hope of being "transferred" back.
They quickly formed up and began to cautiously probe their way out of the underground chamber.
Outside, the daylight was bright, looking even more comfortable than the Secret Realm they had been exploring earlier.
There was little residual Death Qi in the air.
The five of them relaxed slightly, but before they could express more joy, their bodies froze the moment they stepped out of the underground chamber. Their expressions also became fixed.
Before them lay a gigantic white plaza.
In the plaza ahead, six enormous black stone pillars stood.
Five slightly shorter pillars encircled a much taller one in the center.
Beneath the six pillars, decaying corpses were scattered everywhere.
They covered the entire plaza, layer upon layer, piled more than ten meters high.
Heaven only knew how many lives had ended here.
Atop each of the five outer pillars stood a black statue.
These statues were not of ordinary humans; each bore some crow-like features.
All the statues on these pillars faced inward, as if in a gesture of worship.
The object of their worship, standing silently on the sixth and central pillar, was an enormous, oval-shaped black stone.
The surface of this massive black stone was covered with patterns resembling crow's eyes, giving it a mysterious and unsettling aura.
Above and around all of this was a massive, crystalline dome-like barrier formed entirely of Death Qi.
The barrier was crystalline, giving it an appearance of invincibility.
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP—BEEP, BEEP, BEEP—
"Positioning system restored. Confirming current location..."
The notification sound from their communicators beeped in their ears.
Xie Jun and his companions slowly lowered their heads to check.
Their pupils contracted sharply.
One by one, their expressions turned grim.
On the Secret Realm map before them, the cursor representing their current location blinked within a small, glaringly red area at the very top of the map.
The atmosphere grew deathly silent, the air itself seeming to congeal.
After a long silence, a hoarse voice finally broke it.
"Now we're... in real trouble..."
Lu Yuan gently flapped his seven-meter-long black wings, flying unhurriedly about fifty meters above the ground. A drone carrying a large bag trailed behind him.
He munched on an energy bar as he flew, simultaneously recording all the scenery passing below.
The black, unexplored areas on the Secret Realm map steadily diminished.
No drone could penetrate the Death Qi black fog over long distances. Lu Yuan, with his ability to fly, possessed a unique advantage.
He hadn't fought any monsters for quite some time, yet his exploration progress continued to increase, now at 19%.
