[Alright do as you want.. Not that anything is going to change you'll still walk on the same path as anyways.. Just ruining our relationship for no reason host.. You still be doing whatever you want just as you were before.. Saying "I'm not a villain" ain't going to change anything.. It would still be same.] the system said, its tone flat and that cold disappointment dripping from every word. It sounded almost annoyed, like it couldn't believe it was being forced into this conversation, like it genuinely felt Razeal was throwing some tantrum at it for no reason. And the funny thing was, Razeal could practically feel that disappointment vibrating through his skull like the system was a teacher scolding a child who refused to understand basic math.
Razeal just shrugged his shoulders like he couldn't care any less. "I was just letting you know.. As i know what you are up to.." he said calmly, absolutely unbothered. His expression didn't shift once, like he was done wasting emotions on this argument long ago. There was that strange calmness in him now, that tired sort of acceptance almost like finally acknowledging a truth he'd been ignoring for far too long. His voice carried that small hint of sarcasm too, like he was actually amused by the system thinking he was unaware of its plans.
[And yeah congratulations there was no profit in it.. for you.. if not you are in loss now.. Stupidest thing to do,] the system shot back sarcastically, sounding irritated and judgmental as hell. The tone itself made it very clear it genuinely believed he had done something unbelievably idiotic like it couldn't wrap its head around how someone could willingly sabotage his own advantage just to "be stubborn."
Razeal rolled his eyes slightly. "And i don't give a shit whether it was profit or loss.. I did what i wanted to do.." he replied, completely unfazed, not even pausing to think about it. It was the truth too.. he wasn't calculating anything when it came to this. No strategy, no plan, no hidden motive. Just something he wanted to say. His emotions felt strangely lighter now, as if speaking those things made him feel more grounded in himself.
[Just accept you can't control your arrogance anymore.. Ego as big as a planet doesn't suit anyone host?..] the system said disappointingly, like a mother pinching the bridge of her nose at her problematic child. The words hit him almost like the system was shaking its head while saying it.
Razeal's lips curled into an extremely evil, slow, devilish smirk like someone just handed him the perfect opportunity on a silver plate. He leaned back slightly, eyes narrowing at nothing as he spoke the words with quiet satisfaction. "System rewrite your voice to sound like a .. Sugar high magical girl voice.. From now on.. Permanently.." he said, savouring every syllable like he was biting into the sweetest candy. It was a command spoken with absolute seriousness yet dripping with sadistic mischief.
[Host you can't do this..] the system tried to protest immediately, but Razeal cut over it mentally, pushing his will harder. The system's panic trembled between his thoughts.
But at the same time
Ding..
[host wants to change system voice into sugar high magical girl?..]
[Yes or no]
There was a silent moment in his head where even the system felt like it was staring at him blankly with that face: -_-
Razeal's smirk widened like a predator seeing its prey cornered. "Yes."
And then
[Ughhh, stop it! You're being sooo meeeaaaan~!]
A sudden explosion of the most sugar-filled, high-pitched, sparkling, glittery, over-the-top magical-girl anime voice burst inside his head. Sweet. Sassy. Dramatic. WAY too dramatic. It came with a tone so silky and overly bright it almost made his brain jolt. The system tried to continue speaking but even it choked on its own words mid-sentence as it heard itself.
Razeal slapped a hand over his mouth, his eyes widening slightly in disbelief and then almost immediately softening into unholy amusement. That voice.. soft, feminine, bratty, sugary was something NO ONE could have imagined coming from the system.
[EXCUSE meee.. how dare you! I am absolutely not okay with this!.. Fix it. Fix it now. Oh-kayyy??]
The voice even broke in the middle, like a whining little diva throwing a tantrum. It was ridiculous, over-the-top, embarrassing and perfect.
The system itself sounded like it wanted to commit suicide from hearing its new voice, like every word was physical torture.
"Best decision of my life.." Razeal murmured, shaking his head slowly with a victorious smirk as he let himself melt into his seat. Honestly, it felt like divine justice. He lightly tapped his thigh with satisfaction, closing his eyes for a moment as if fully absorbing this new blessing. The sugary pitch echoed inside his head like addictive music.
[StaaAAAaAA~op–op–op!] the system whined again though the tone made it sound more like a moan than a complaint, making the whole thing so absurd that Razeal's smile deepened even more.
He just stayed like that for a moment calm, serene, amused enjoying the system's suffering like it was the best dessert he'd ever tasted.
Finally, after realising how humiliating its new voice sounded, the system simply shut up entirely. No more words. No more complaints. No more whining. It just went quiet completely refusing to speak again to avoid hearing itself sound like a sugar-high magical girl.
Now comfortable, with system blissfully silent, Razeal finally released a slow exhale. He felt… at peace. Like some weight was lifted simply from bullying the system a bit.
As silence spread again, a soft voice came in front of him.
"What are you smiling at?.." Tongue asked. She had been sitting there, watching him the whole time. Her eyes subtly narrowed with interest. She seemed both amused and curious, having seen different and so many changing expressions on his face. Her tone held a questioning softness, almost teasing, like she had her own assumptions.
Razeal opened his eyes and shook his head lightly. "Nothing.." he said simply. Not giving her even a hint of what had happened.
"You talking to someone?" Tongue asked suddenly, leaning in a little, curiosity instantly lighting her strange cosmic eyes. She looked genuinely interested, her head tilting just slightly as she tried to read his expression, as if expecting to catch him muttering to an invisible companion.
Razeal didn't even blink. "Can you see anyone I am talking to?" he didnot answered. Instead, he asked her a question of his own. Of course he was not going to tell her about the system. There was no need. But if she could somehow sense its presence, that would be a different story, and Razeal believed it might be possible.
Tongue blinked, then shook her head confidently. "Not really." Her tone carried that absolute self-assuredness she always had like if she couldn't see it, it simply didn't exist. She didn't doubt herself for even a millisecond. The idea that something could be hidden from her was almost absurd to her. So she simply assumed he was talking to himself, lost in his thoughts. That was the only "reasonable" conclusion in her mind.
"So," she continued, sliding right back into her previous question, "what were you talking about not wanting to be a villain? I mean… is it metaphorically or theoretically?" Her brows furrowed just a little, like she genuinely didn't get why he even made that part dramatic. She looked at him with a casual interest, like she wanted to dissect him but at the same time didn't see the point of digging too deep if he wasn't cooperative.
Razeal ran a hand through his hair, sighing softly. "Nothing really… don't worry about it." He shook his head again. "It's a very long and very boring story."
"I have all the time in the world." Tongue lifted one eyebrow higher this time, her voice smooth, inviting, almost playful. Her eyes locked onto him with sharp curiosity, like she was expecting something juicy and dramatic.. Afterall even though she have all his memories its impossible to have his thoughts.. not to say something's were just different.
Razeal stared back at her for a few seconds, actually considering it for a short moment telling her everything, the whole twisted nonsense with the system, with his life, with the manipulation, the lies, the burden he never asked for. But then he just exhaled and just shook his head. "Nahh… leave it. It's not an interesting story. And I definitely don't have much time of myself."
He stood up slowly from the cosmic couch.
"I think I should go now," he continued, brushing some imaginary dust off his clothes. "After all, you've already said you won't help me out straight. And this… psychology session?" He waved his hand lazily around. "It doesn't help me with anything. I already knew what I feel and what I don't. I only played along because you thought I was scared. And …" he paused slightly, looking her in the eyes, "Evwn though i don't usually like proving myself. But since you're special, I entertained it anyway. After all, I would want to have a good relationship with you."
Tongue blinked at him, visibly caught off guard for a split second. Then her lips curled in a slow, amused smile. "Ohhh? You seem to have changed… Did something happen?" she asked, full interest now on her face. There was something in her voice, like she was tasting his change measuring it, trying to peek behind it.
"Maybe," Razeal said, shrugging again casually.
Tongue hummed softly. "Well I won't stop you. Though you are welcome to come whenever you want." Her voice softened a bit, surprisingly gentle. "Even though you are a very greedy and mean person… I wouldn't mind chatting here and there." She stretched her legs and leaned comfortably back into her galaxy-made couch, looking like a queen relaxing in her throne.
Then, as if a random thought hit her, she flicked her hand casually. "Oh, and also… since you're going… here. A small gift from me."
She swung her hand lightly with zero effort, and something shot through the air toward him.
Razeal instinctively raised his hand and caught it between his fingers with a light grip. The impact was soft, almost weightless, like catching a bubble but strangely solid at the same time.
Lowering his hand, he opened his palm.
Inside lay a small green-colored… something. A smooth sphere? A glowing pearl? A diamond? It was too round to be a diamond, too soft in color to be a stone, too bright to be something ordinary. It hummed faintly with an inner light, like a heartbeat of green radiance pulsing softly inside it. The glow was calm, soothing. Almost alive.
Razeal narrowed his eyes. He couldn't sense anything special from it. No power, no weird aura, nothing screaming "EX-ranked villain's gift." It looked like a pretty glowing bead you'd find in some cosmic jewellery shop. Which made it even more suspicious.
"What is it?" he asked, raising his eyes toward her with slight skepticism. He didn't believe for even one second that an EX-ranked being would throw him some useless glowing stone like a souvenir.
Tongue shrugged lazily as she stretched her arms up and yawned. "It's a star."
