"Man, what a day!" I said as I walked slowly with Valerica, her torso wrapped around my arm as she did so. She giggled and rested her head against my shoulder. "So, did you enjoy yourself? A lot of students are tired after their first day, and yet here you are full of spunk having a leisurely walk with little ol' me. After hours of intense Psionic training. The confidence in which she said those words prompted me to look down at her face, prompting her to state hastily. "Look ahead and don't ruin my fun. You are mine Apollo, I need to fill in the blanks to help me try and un-remember the fact that I do not have the honour of birthing you."

I smiled and said nothing. I started to think about the people I was surrounding myself with recently and came to the conclusion that I really enjoy having older women around me acting possessive.

It wasn't a turn on, that wasn't the right term, but I got immense satisfaction out of it. My emotions must have been pouring out of me as Valerica pinched my side. "You better not be having any indecent thoughts right now Apollo. Think of cheating on me and I'll ground you and keep you in my basement for... So, did you manage to get in contact with what's her name? Kathrine?" She asked innocently, snuggling up to my arm even closer.

"Yes actually. She is on a planet called Fabbarinth." Valerica then let out a joyful yelp of delight. "HA! Fabbarinth! Oh I love it there! Life is so simple. Fight and fuck. Fuck and fight. My aura went dark for a moment before recovering. "She is doing well, in general. She has Talia with her acting as her assistant so I know she won't be alone for the time being, but I found out some pretty devastating news that when I think about it, it angers me.

Valerica felt the dark sensation at the start of the conversation and tensed my arm reassuringly. "Oh, was one of her ex partners there? Trust me honey, my daughter loves you too much to act like she used to. I see it in her eyes. You and your friend below have made her faithful."

I looked at Valerica with a look of 'huh?' Before shaking my head. "No, What? No. I know that. Trust me, I know she won't get with anyone else. No, I found out there have been assassination attempts on her life." I stated, prompting Valerica to look at me confused.

"Oh? That's it? That's not a big deal Apollo, I have even had one here at the college. It's just one of those-"

"-WHAT!"

I yelled in utter disbelief. "Who the fuck thinks they can hurt you in my presence? Oh that will not fucking stand. Tell me who they are I'll kill 'em"

Valerica smiled at her son, proud at his reaction, but brought him to calmness, this wasn't him. "Apollo, yoo-hoo! Look at me, love. Don't worry about it. The assassin and the jealous bitch behind the attempt have already been dealt with. I promise you. I didn't even need to move a finger for the latter, a perk of being a guardian. But it was very sweet of you getting upset on my behalf. Come here~ MWAH!"

Having a big wet one planted on my lips, I recovered as Valerica began grooming my clothes. "Such a sweet man, getting all fussed over a casual assassination. I was right when I have said you aren't cut out for politics, my boy. If you knew half the shit that goes off in those undercurrents, I'm pretty your you will blow your lid like whatever happened when you fucked up that Praetorian."

"You are not helping by telling me that Valerica." I stated, but her smile was infectious and knowing that the person who tried to kill my adoptive mother was taking a dirt nap was enough... For now.

"Also, don't worry about kitten, she might have been lazy up until earlier this year, but she is strong enough and capable enough to fend off any assassin worth a darn. She will also have guards with her while travelling so good meat for the grinder. Enough about it though, I can see your eyes plotting something and knowing you, you will take it too far with how much love you have. So, do any plans for the remainder of your evening?"

I shook my head, 'She just read me like an open book.' And smiled before replying to her. "Yes, actually. I need to go and talk with Hailey."

"The ice queen? What do you want with her?" Valerica blurted out, before jolting, as she accidentally let her true feelings of disgust out.

"Oh, well. I think she tried to kiss me earlier, but was interrupted. I want to go and talk to her about it, to make sure what I think happened. Actually happened."

Valerica immediately wanted to go on the defensive and say ' No of course you are mistaken, I doubt that would have happened.' But in all honesty? if Apollo figured out someone was trying to kiss him, with his adorable naivety, it probably did happen.

"I-I see. And how do you feel about that? Her trying to kiss you?" She asked me, prompting me to look up in thought and reply honestly. "I'm not sure? I mean we kissed before when we danced, but that was just dancing. Honestly? I have never seen her as more than a friend before today, but she is a nice woman.I mean, I'm not blind, I know she is attractive, but it's been platonic appreciation up until now. To fully know how I feel, I think talking about what happened with her will truly help my thoughts on the matter."

Valerica immediately wanted to go into sabotage mode. She hated that frigid bitch. However, the thought of her actions upsetting Apollo in any form prevented her from doing that, so she just warned.

"Well, whatever you decide, you need to remember she is a princess. Although she acts like she isn't and denounces the title every opportunity she gets. She still is one and that will have unavoidable ramifications no matter what choice you decide going forward. So be careful, Apollo. And if you need any help. You can always rely on me."

She then looked around and whispered quietly into my ear.

"I would go as far as committing high treason for you, my love. Never forget that."

Valerica and I walked a little longer before we parted ways. She wanted to get in a quick workout and grab a bite to eat.

I then decided after parting ways to head straight to Hailey's office. After asking a few guards for directions, I found my way to her office and knocked on the door. I waited for about a minute and was about to leave thinking no one was in before the door opened.

Immediately I heard Hailey on the phone speaking loudly to someone. "No you can't come here! You have a duty to perform! If you turn up here and abandon your post I will never speak to you again and I mean that!"

That was all I heard before Gabrielle hugged me tightly. "Hello Apollo, how were the rest of your classes? Did you have a nice day? Tell me about them! Leave no detail out!" I hugged Gabrielle in reciprocation, her hugs still felt amazing, but I cut to the chase.

"Maybe later Gabrielle, I am here to talk to Hailey right now. When will she be done with her call?" Gabrielle pulled away from the hug and began grooming my clothes. "The moment you step through the doors I would wager, come in."

Hailey sighed. "Milanna. I am being serious, do your duty and-" Hailey then lost the ability to speak for a moment as Apollo walked through the door. 'Shit..' "Look, enough. I have to go. Bye."

"-Hailey! No wait!" was heard from the communicator before Hailey ended the call and began hastily doing quick fixes to her hair. "Ap-Apollo. What a delight to see you again, come take a seat, what can I do for you?" She asked, trying to sound like her heart wasn't pounding.

Apollo then turned from her and to Gabrielle. "Gabrielle, can we have the room for a moment?" Hailey watched in panic as Gabrielle's eye twitched for a moment before ultimately agreeing as she folded to Apollo's request.

"I will be right outside should you need me."
