At Malrik's announcement, all the Velari—Orven Draven and King Vale included—stared wide-eyed at Eren's huge frame. Hearts that had been filled with anger a moment before grew steady, giving way to shock and surprise.
"Where is she now? My daughter." Amid the stunned silence, Orven Draven stepped forward on shaky legs, his eyes searching for the small figure he treasured.
This time, Eren answered, a gentle smile on his face. "Do not worry. She is well." Then he took the radio from his pocket, pressed the button, and spoke in his language. "I think the stage is ready for your entry."
With that, a low hum rolled over the field, ringing in every ear and raising gooseflesh on every arm, while a colossal body of black metal began to glide down from the sky, drawing every gaze upward in awe and shock.
"What is that…" The sight of the gigantic figure stirred a primal fear inside everyone.
The black metal at first made every mind recall Sevrak's Black Dragon, and the fear carved into them threatened to break free.
As mortals, they could not sense anything beyond what they saw, so the image of the hoverjet was all their minds registered.
But being a Practitioner, Malrik was different. He could usually feel the formless aura of a Rank 4 Spark, yet when he looked at this thing, he could not feel any presence coming from it.
It is not a Rank 5 Spark, right? He gulped loudly, his bloodshot eyes trembling.
The last time he had felt like this was during his close encounter with Caprion. As the Wanderer Merchant's Rank 5 skill, it let a low-rank Practitioner like Malrik sense no pressure and no aura as long as Caprion did not reveal it willingly. That experience was now what made Malrik consider the impossible.
Of course, a hoverjet, with all its technology and the weapons mounted on its body, was not even close to the power of a Rank 4 Spark, let alone a Rank 5. Still, it was enough to make the natives think and exaggerate things.
Soon, when it had descended low enough for everyone to feel the engine vibrations in their bodies, the side door of the hoverjet opened with a metallic sound, and a thick rope tumbled down.
Then Rhys, wearing a black heavy exoskeleton, slid down the rope with Vesha on his arm, her golden hair bright against the metal and her ice-blue eyes wide as she looked around in astonishment.
Two others followed soon after, each helping Dr. Veyla and Isolde in the same manner as they descended.
"Father." The moment her feet found solid ground, Vesha moved forward on unsteady steps toward the worn, tearful figure.
"Oh, daughter, you are safe." Orven Draven rushed forward and gathered her into his arms, relief flooding him as the only family he had left returned safely.
"So what are we doing now?" Eren whispered in his own language as he watched the 2 researchers come toward him with Rhys.
Looking around at Velari faces that were easing by the moment, with tension and anger already falling away, they could see their entrance had succeeded in earning the natives' trust and goodwill, at least in part.
"Well, I only planned it up to this stage. You have to think of the rest." Rhys shrugged his metallic shoulders.
Before coming here, they had received the relevant information from Adyr's Earth body: the key parts of what he had done in the region so far, how he had made the people acknowledge him, and what his status was among the Velari.
He specifically informed them about these people's defining characteristics.
Rhys built a plan from all this knowledge, but he was not a politician. He did not know how to move a crowd, especially an alien one, so although his entry plan was the best he could manage and even seemed successful, they still needed the mastermind who had made the entire stage possible and crafted everything from start to finish for what came next.
Eren also began to think, since from now on, his every word and every action would affect things greatly. He wanted to choose his words wisely and introduce themselves to the Velari in a way that would strengthen Adyr's image in their eyes.
While Eren was thinking all this through, King Vale Von Velaris approached them with hurried steps.
"I am the humble King Vale Von Velaris. Please accept this old king's greeting, lords and ladies. Let me show my gratitude on my own behalf and on behalf of my people." He bowed from the waist, showing his utmost respect.
Seeing his deep respect and easy manner, Rhys and Eren shared a brief look.
Adyr had told them how simple these people were, almost naive, and now, seeing it with their own eyes, they understood he wasn't exaggerating.
"Hello, King Vale. I am Eren, and this man is Rhys. Nice to meet you." Eren stepped forward and spoke in a gentle tone, a wide smile on his face.
His broken Latin made his monstrous appearance even harder to soften, and even his smile could not change the way his entire frame imprinted itself in Velari minds as a monster. Yet they still received him warmly.
"Oh, Lord Eren and Lord Rhys, I am honored to meet Lord Adyr's friends." King Vale bowed again, and the other lords and even the citizens behind him followed with deep bows, offering the strangers a welcome full of respect and warmth.
They did not question their origin or their intentions. They only offered gratitude for helping them take revenge and for saving their young Lady Vesha.
How do they survive in a world this harsh with a mindset like that? Rhys could not help thinking it.
In Earth society, where nuclear war had shattered and reshaped the structure from the ground up, someone this naive and pure would find life very hard.
Their likely fate would be to give years to a heartless employer or to stay in a circle of friends who exploited them.
Now Rhys was looking at an entire kingdom like that, which made him question whether the problem was with Humans at all.
Eren looked even more surprised, especially given a life he believed had always been a bad drama.
My sister would love to live in a place like this, he thought silently, already planning to bring his now-recovered sister here for a visit.
"Please, King Vale, that honor belongs to us." Eren bowed as low as his tall body allowed, returning the same respect and affection.
Seeing a Practitioner bow to him, King Vale panicked for a brief moment and lowered his head even more. "No, no, please accept our gratitude."
Eren saw that and bent even lower to match him. "It's nothing, really. Anyone would have done it. ''
Watching one small body and one massive body seem to compete at bowing, every eye followed the scene with a strange look.
While the Velari watched in shock and surprise, many already dropped to their knees so they would not lose the apparent bowing contest, thinking how humble this Practitioner was to lower his head to a mortal he had just met.
Meanwhile, Rhys and the researchers were struck by how quickly Eren had adapted to an alien race.
