Unholy Player

Chapter 488: Growing Legend

While the shop owner was still bowing, she suddenly straightened again, as if a thought had just struck her. "Can you please wait a second?"

Without waiting for a reply, she hurried to the back of the shop through a small door, her steps quick and light. A short while later she came running back, holding a figure made of wood and cloth in her hand.

The figure was very well made.

Among all the crafts on the shelves, it looked like the most time-consuming and detailed piece, almost like her personal masterpiece.

It was a human-shaped figure with messy black hair, carefully made from black threads, and an all-black outfit that fit the small body.

The most striking detail, however, was its pure white wings, spread wide to both sides. The feathers looked like real bird feathers and almost dazzled under the shop's modest lighting.

"Why does the figure look familiar?"

Niva raised her eyebrow as she spoke. She couldn't shake the feeling that she had seen this image before. Her focus shifted between the doll and the memory of her brother.

Vesha's smile widened. She turned slightly toward them to explain. "It's Lord Adyr's figure."

From the way she looked at it, this was clearly not her first time seeing such a doll.

In fact, she already had a set of these figures in her room at the Velari kingdom, filling the inside of her showcase cabinet like a rare collection she quietly treasured.

Seeing their surprised faces, Vesha added, "Lord Adyr is well-loved among my race. These figures are just one of the ways they show their love and gratitude for him."

She went on to tell them that there was a newly built mansion in the center of the kingdom constructed in Adyr's name.

In front of it stood a towering statue bearing his features, visible even from far away, like a silent guardian watching over the area.

Vesha continued, explaining the songs, theaters, and events held in his name throughout the kingdom. Those were just extra signs of his influence, yet they showed how deeply he had sunk into the hearts of the Velari people and into their culture.

Niva and Marielle exchanged a long look, their expressions full of shock and disbelief.

Only now were they beginning to grasp how active he had been in this world and how many things he had accomplished without them seeing the process.

Vivienne remained silent. She simply watched, tracking each movement and detail. It was hard to tell what went through her mind.

After a few more exchanges with her, the woman insisted on gifting them the figure, along with a few other adorable dolls that had caught Niva's eye.

In the end, the shop owner refused any kind of payment with a firm shake of her head, unmoved by their insistence and not caring in the slightest whether the ones standing before her carried royal blood or not.

Eventually, they left the first shop they had visited with cloth bags full in their hands, the gifts inside shifting gently with each step.

As soon as they stepped out, 2 human attendants approached, bowing slightly with professional politeness. "Please let us carry them for you."

Niva was caught off guard at first. She hadn't even realized the two had been following them from a distance.

Once she understood they were there to help, she handed her bags over. "Thank you."

Inwardly, a thought surfaced in her mind. Is this the privilege of being someone important?

The feeling was very unfamiliar to her, yet at the same time it was pleasant.

For someone who had spent most of her life forced into an asocial existence, without even a proper school life, this kind of treatment felt strange but undeniably good.

They continued walking with Vesha leading the way.

They visited many more shops and left each one with extra free items gifted by the owners as soon as they heard these visitors were Adyr's acquaintances. Their hands were constantly being filled with new items.

They also visited some human shops.

Even though the products there were not as unusual as the others and were mostly things they already knew, they still never left empty-handed.

Humans who recognized them as Adyr's mother and sister showed them even more warmth, treating them like important guests pulled straight out of a story.

All the humans brought from Earth to Beyond had been carefully selected.

They had surnames and backgrounds that proved they carried mutant genes. They were well-connected in their own circles. Because of that, it wasn't surprising that they knew what Adyr's family looked like based on shared information and reports.

Along the way, they also met zealots and extremist fans of Adyr.

These people treated them like goddesses and queens, like members of a cult greeting its holy figures.

Their overeager devotion and intense stares made Niva and Marielle distinctly uncomfortable.

For Vesha, however, everything looked perfectly natural. In her eyes, this behavior from humans who recognized their ladies was exactly what it should be, considering the status they had.

"I wonder how my brother would walk in these streets." Niva muttered under her breath as she passed the bags in her hands to the attendants behind them, her voice soft, almost as if she was talking to herself.

She didn't picture fans rushing in for hugs and selfies like they would for some beloved idol.

What she imagined was something different. She envisioned people kneeling on the floor and kissing his boots. A quiet, fearful worship rather than noisy adoration.

While she was feeling the mental fatigue of the tour, her eyes caught a figure a little ahead, moving casually through the crowd yet somehow standing out with every step.

"Wow, who is she?" She turned to Vesha as she spoke, drawing the others' attention to the casually walking figure as well.

The woman was a complete beauty.

Her silver hair and fair skin were perfectly complemented by a one-piece black dress that hugged her slender figure. She walked like a high-grade model on a runway and, without even trying, drew eyes and attention with every step.
