The Primordial Record

Chapter 1972: The Grand Game (2)

Enoch had placed a compulsion inside the hearts of every Primordial, and this gave them an unending hunger to consume creation. It did not matter how hard they tried to fight this compulsion; they would always find themselves falling for it.

Lumen promised to give them the power to fight this compulsion and even create a weapon for them to use against their father.

That weapon would be powered by a new force called a Singularity.

For a Singularity to exist, Lumen would have to sacrifice a lot of the power it had gathered and also give up the last bit of End that it found inside the hammer and the forge.

This was what made this decision a particularly painful one for the wings, but it knew the importance of this decision and knew that the only powers in Existence that should have been strong enough to fight End, the Luminious, were gone, and it was the only thing left of them.

In creating the Singularity, Lumen had to bring back something that Enoch had destroyed when Existence was rebirthed, a unique being that had never been seen before… Hundun.

In every previous cycle of creation, there had always been Realities, which were the great macro-structure that every other smaller creation was born from.

If Existence was the earth, Realities were trees, and the leaves and fruits were the product of this tree. However, no Reality ever had a consciousness.

Hundun was the first Reality to be born with a mind and a nascent consciousness, and even though Enough shattered him to pieces before he was born, the potential for every Reality to have a consciousness of their own had been ingrained inside them from that moment henceforth.

Lumen had understood something crucial when it watched End fumble the expansion of Existence… this was the first time it had seen this power become helpless, and it knew that the reason this happened was due to Enoch following the will of End, yet still possessing a mind of his own with a desire that End could not easily break.

Enoch took the wishes of End and stretched it beyond what was permissible by it, and from that moment, End lost all its tools of control.

Lumen wanted to recreate this moment, but on a larger and more complex scale.

The power of End wanted creation to flourish, so much life created potent energy that was hard to describe, and Lumen saw this energy as Potential.

When all of these potentials reach a limit, End would institute its destruction, and the end of all those potentials would be what it needs to grow.

To take advantage of this, Lumen was going to be giving End a new potent source of potential that had never been seen before, and that was awakening the consciousness of every Reality.

A general rule of thumb was that the more complex a living organism was, the more potential it had.

From single-cell organisms to mortals, immortals, and gods, their potential increased as their makeup became more complex, and Realities were the favored children of Existence, holding an incredible amount of complexity.

If there was anything inside of Existence that would feed End its greatest meal, then it would be the destruction of a Reality that had its consciousness.

Lumen knew that if it gave End a meal it did not know it needed, it would not only welcome it, End would feed this new source of potential, enough power to make it as massive and ripe as possible, so that the harvest would be spectacular.

Using all of the power it could get its feathers upon, Lumen triggered the creation of consciousness inside every Reality, and End did not just welcome this change, it accelerated it in such a drastic manner that the collective consciousness of these new Realities gave birth to special beasts to either guide or protect them.

Now the destruction of every Reality was creating such a surge of potential that it exceeded anything that had ever lived before, but there was one problem… All of these destruction were not being fed into End, they were being stored inside the bodies of the Primordials.

Now, the Primordials were stuck in between a rock and a hard place. You see, they were created to eat Realities, but the Realities they were eating were not the same sort of Realities they were designed to eat.

Consciousness exploded the potential of every Reality, and if a Reality without a consciousness could be assumed to have ten units of potential, a Reality with consciousness had at least a million units of consciousness.

Yet, the hunger imposed on the Primordials by Enoch made the Primordials unable to stop themselves from feeding on Realities.

Previously, the Primordials did not take the Architects of End with any great amount of seriousness, seeing them as a minor cult that could be easily destroyed if they chose to do so, but now they knew that they needed help, because they could see their future.

If they ate a few more Realities, they would go insane, and they could not just stop eating if they wanted. If they went insane, then their innate instincts would only allow them to continue eating and when all Realities were gone, they would return to their father to be consumed.

Not wanting this fate for themselves, they went to the Architects and decided to follow its plans.

The Architects told the Primordials that they would be their minds, even when they were insane, and they would direct the Primordials in their weakest moments, and in order to win against the plans of their father, they needed to contribute their Essence into the creation of a Singularity, the Primordial Record, which would collect all the potential of every Reality they had eaten, placing it away from the hands of their father.

Of course this did not mean it automatically gave the Primordials victory, but it would give them a chance to fight for their Destiny.

All of these plans were ultimately following the path that End would want, because a war between the Primordials and Enoch was what it wanted, but Lumen had planted the seed of its destruction inside the hearts of every Reality.

That seed was Eos.
