I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!

Chapter 171: Hardworking?...Only If He Knew!

Mr. Raghavan understood perfectly the principle that youth poverty did not determine future success of a person.

He himself was the prime example of it. He had started as a poor struggling young man in this big city.

Later through relentless effort he had built a multi-billion dollar business empire from absolutely nothing on his own without the need to beg someone or to kneel. This always had been his source of confidence.

And after these past few days of careful observation and learning about the young man he had to acknowledge certain truths about him.

He knew this young man possessed genuine quality and even excellence in certain areas.

Whether considering appearance or temperament or conversational ability Alex should never have become a mere security guard in the first place.

The mismatch was obvious to anyone with eyes.

What if this young man eventually made substantial money in another industry?

What if he somehow became wealthy later? The possibility nagged at him.

But at this gathering the other business tycoons glanced dismissively at Alex.

They all shook their heads with obvious disdain and contempt. Their expressions said everything.

Unlike Mr. Raghavan they had not spent several days getting to know Alex personally and observing his character.

Instead they only knew that Alex worked as a security guard.

That single fact defined him completely in their eyes. Nothing else mattered.

How much did security guards in Mumbai earn monthly anyway? Perhaps four hundred dollars at most?

Any young person with genuine ability and ambition would never choose to become a security guard. The position represented failure and lack of options.

"Even a lowly security guard dares to pursue President Raghavan's daughter! I genuinely do not know where his confidence comes from.

Does he truly believe he is the protagonist of some romantic novel? Haha! Where a poor person can become the son-in-law of a rich family. How naive." one CEO laughed mockingly.

"Yes this young man resembles a newborn calf fearless and completely unaware of how vast the world truly is.

After a few harsh years when he finally understands social class hierarchies he will realize his own insignificant position."

"President Raghavan's daughter is exceptionally pretty with striking good looks.

If she were with a common security guard people would laugh at her constantly.

The humiliation would be unbearable for the family."

"I completely agree with that assessment."

"I simply do not understand how Riya knows a security guard in the first place?"

"Perhaps this security guard employs some psychological manipulation tricks.

After all President Raghavan's daughter has only been in high society for less than two years.

She lacks experience. She must have been tricked by his pretty face and smooth words."

A CEO from the automotive manufacturing industry walked directly up to Mr. Raghavan.

He smiled knowingly "Do not believe this security guard's outrageous boasting. I asked around our business circles extensively.

Absolutely no one knows him. He probably lacks any meaningful connections which explains why he works as a security guard."

"I understand."

Mr. Raghavan nodded slowly while sighing deeply. His suspicions were confirmed.

All of this fell within his expectations and predictions.

Indeed that security guard had been merely bragging with empty words. Just hot air.

Seven point five million dollars daily?

Did this fool think money was so easy to generate? That wealth simply fell from the sky?

If that were true then Alex would be earning two hundred twenty-five million dollars monthly. Over two point seven billion dollars annually! The numbers were absurd. Even the wealthiest businessmen Mr. Raghavan knew barely approached such figures.

Mr. Raghavan himself with his entire medical equipment empire earned roughly eight hundred million dollars annually. And that was after decades of building his business from nothing. This security guard claimed to make three times that amount?

Ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.

"I initially thought this security guard might be pretending weakness while actually possessing hidden strength."

"But unfortunately it is all just empty boasting and delusion."

After receiving confirmation from so many people within his trusted business circle Mr. Raghavan finally believed with certainty that Alex was merely an ordinary person with no special assets. Just another dreamer living in fantasy.

However there was something Mr. Raghavan did not know.

Alex maintained an extremely low profile lifestyle.

Recently he had been either working as a security guard to accumulate power for traveling extensively in ancient times conducting business transactions.

With the tremendous accumulation of wealth over these past few months Alex's current net worth already exceeded several tens of billions of dollars. He was not even in the same league or category as Mr. Raghavan.

His actual daily income fluctuated wildly depending on his ancient world transactions. Some days he moved fifteen million dollars worth of gold. Other days it reached thirty million or more. The seven point five million figure he had quoted was actually a conservative average. On particularly profitable days when he liquidated large quantities of ancient artifacts and precious metals his earnings could spike to fifty million dollars or higher.

The amounts had become so routine that Alex no longer felt any excitement about them. Money had lost its meaning beyond a certain point.

For example ten billion and twenty billion might seem like a relatively small difference numerically. But if you genuinely examined the actual gap the difference was absolutely enormous and meaningful.

The wealthy business people that Mr. Raghavan had invited to this gathering possessed net worth mostly between several hundred million and perhaps one billion dollars at maximum. They were comfortable but not truly wealthy.

The richest person present besides Mr. Raghavan himself was probably worth around one point two billion dollars. Still nowhere close to Alex's actual holdings.

They were not even remotely in the same league as Alex's true financial position. Not even close.

For example could a factory worker earning several thousand dollars monthly casually chat and laugh with a multi-million dollar business tycoon as equals?

This was completely impossible! The social barriers were too great.

Therefore these so-called wealthy people did not know Alex or recognize his true status. They existed in different worlds entirely.

Seeing the people gathered at the villa pointing and whispering about him with obvious judgment Alex's eyes narrowed with understanding.

What exactly were these people doing?

They were discussing him behind his back? How amusing.

Oh only if they knew...that will be interesting. The irony was delicious.

Mr. Raghavan glanced at Alex before sighing internally.

He did not understand where this security guard obtained his tremendous confidence to discuss dating his daughter. The audacity was remarkable.

The young man possessed incredibly thick skin beyond measurement. Like armor plating.

"Never mind then."

"Let us attempt another method."

Mr. Raghavan thought to himself while strategizing. Direct confrontation had failed. Time for psychology.

He walked up to Alex with a carefully practiced smile "Although you might not know young man but I have observed you carefully these past few days.

Actually compared to others of the same social class and generation you are a very decent person. If you had just a little more of a good job I might not be so against giving my daughter's hand to you."

"Oh really?" Alex responded with obvious interest. His attention sharpened.

Now that the truth had been revealed Alex with his characteristically thick skin could not help but ask "Father-in-law you possess a discerning eye! You have finally recognized my good qualities!"

Mr. Raghavan fell silent. While it was irritating to hear him say Father-in-law every time, he controlled himself from being angry with him.

He still had to have a dialogue with his daughter if he convinced Alex to leave her. That required maintaining composure.

But his plan was not going smoothly at all. Everything was backfiring.

Unexpectedly this young man had taken his earlier compliment too seriously. He didn't mean to encourage him at all.

It seemed this person's skin was even thicker than he had previously imagined. Impossibly thick.

But in order to protect his daughter Mr. Raghavan forced himself to maintain his smile.

He continued praising "Being a security guard is genuinely not an easy profession. Even the most relaxed security guard in a residential community must work at least ten hours daily.

But you young man not only perform your job duties well but you also smile at others and display honest and kind behavior."

"Well..." Alex touched his nose feeling genuinely embarrassed by the praise.

He possessed absolutely none of these supposed advantages!

Ten hours daily? He would be extraordinarily lucky to work six or seven hours most days.

More often than not he would only work three or five hours before clocking out and leaving early. His attendance was terrible.

His supervisor had stopped questioning it months ago after Alex had casually mentioned he might invest in the industrial park. The threat worked wonders sometimes.

Always smiling at others?

But if someone displayed a bad attitude he would immediately start arguing with them. He had gotten into several disputes just last week.

Honest and kind? He himself did not even perceive this virtue within his own character. He was pragmatic at best.

He manipulated ancient timeline markets for profit. He had no qualms about using his knowledge advantage to extract maximum value from every transaction.

The gap between Mr. Raghavan's perception and reality was almost comedic. If only the man knew the truth about his "hardworking" future son-in-law.
