Slaying Demons: Starting with Upgrading my Calligraphy

Chapter 250: Dragon Binding Rope

Stepping over the threshold into the grand hall's interior revealed a space woven from deathly silence and oppressive force, filled with dust and shadows.

The air was heavy, damp, cold, and possessed an aura of utmost tranquility.

Faint, deep sounds occasionally reached his ears, like whispers from the abyss pressing into one's very soul.

As his eyes gradually grew accustomed to the dim light, he could faintly make out disorderly footprints on the vast floor.

It seemed that at some point, living creatures had lingered here. However, "his" emotions appeared rather unstable.

Qi Xiu's pupils trembled slightly as he gazed at the wide footprints stretching for tens of meters before him. It was hard to imagine what terrifying behemoth had made them.

The one who could guard vicious dragons must surely be an existence even more fearsome than the dragons themselves...

Avoiding these footprints, Qi Xiu continued toward the depths of the grand hall, following the fragmented and broken memories of that vicious dragon's head.

Countless years had passed. The prison guards were long gone; whether they had left the Dragon Prison or died elsewhere was unknown. However, the weapons they once used should still be preserved here.

The entire hall's layout was grim, cold, and silent. Every step felt as if watched by an unknown power, breeding caution and the fear that any vigorous movement or sound might trigger some horrifying consequence.

After passing through a long corridor, a stone-carved door, a large portion of it smashed, appeared before Qi Xiu.

On the broken part of the door, one could still vaguely see fist and claw marks. It must have been the handiwork of a prison guard in a fit of rage.

This actually makes it convenient for Qi Someone.

The door was shattered. Qi Xiu leapt lightly, slipping through the opening into the area behind the door.

Inside the empty side hall, the thick darkness felt like a heavy sea, so oppressive it was hard to breathe.

Squinting, Qi Xiu frowned slightly and flicked his hand, sending out a streak of firelight.

BOOM!

The light flared suddenly, banishing the darkness.

A colossal figure, a hundred meters tall, with a dragon's head and a human body, wielding a Great Halberd, suddenly emerged. Its jade-like, emerald eyes were slightly downcast, as if coldly looking down upon Qi Xiu.

All 48,000 hairs on Qi Xiu's body stood on end. He nearly raised his hand to unleash a Thunder Magic attack.

But after a brief moment of shock, he quickly realized this formidable dragon-headed figure seemed to be already dead.

It was simply that he had been too powerful in life; even though his Dao had dissipated in death, his flesh had not decayed. It even looked as if he were still alive.

Is this the prison guard who guarded this Dragon Prison?

Looking up at the dragon-person towering like a mountain before him, Qi Xiu's eyes brimmed with purple light.

Through the Observing Qi Skill, Qi Xiu saw that the dragon-person indeed possessed no trace of life, yet its body still contained a terrifying surge of force.

It is said that when a Dao Body Realm Leader reaches the end of their lifespan, they attract the Power of Heaven and Earth to dissolve their flesh, a process called 'Turning to Dao.' Some Dao Experts who meet accidental deaths, however, lack the strength to 'Turn to Dao,' so their bodies are unexpectedly preserved. These Dao Bodies, although their soul no longer presides and they are like empty shells, retain terrifying instincts. Upon being touched, they immediately revive. Though unable to exert the full combat power of the Dao Body Realm, they are fearless of death and tireless, making them even more terrifying than a normal Dao Expert. The body of this dragon-man prison guard must be in such a state.

Having ascertained the dragon-man prison guard's condition, Qi Xiu deliberately kept his distance. He had no desire to be hunted by an undying Dao Expert.

He bypassed the dragon-man prison guard's remains. Arriving at the center of the side hall, he found five tightly closed chests neatly arranged. Three had already been opened and were empty.

It seemed their contents had already been taken.

Of the two remaining chests, one had a large hole smashed into its side. Judging from the angle of the break, it seemed to have been forced open from the inside.

The only intact chest left was the one directly before Qi Xiu's eyes.

Open the chest!

Lightly placing his hand on the chest, Qi Xiu silently tried to sense any premonition arising from his Human Path Merit and the intuitive connection of his unified spirit and flesh.

He sensed nothing unusual, no feedback.

Good! There should be no danger.

Heaving a sigh of relief, Qi Xiu gathered his sleeves and stepped back, then tilted his chin, signaling the little white figure beside him to open the chest.

"You open it."

The little white figure, its expression a question mark, shrugged helplessly. It then hopped forward—one, two, three bounds—and forcefully lifted the chest's lid, slowly opening it...

SWISH—

The moment the lid was lifted, countless ribbon-like golden rays of light spilled out, instantly transforming the gloomy, oppressive side hall into a space of clear brightness.

Even the lifeless, cold, and rigid relic of the dragon-man beside them seemed to regain a flicker of vitality.

This is it!

Inside the empty, square wooden chest lay a long rope, seemingly woven from golden threads. Golden light emanated from it, rippling in layers through the void, and a faint, almost imperceptible oppressive force flowed along the rope.

And at the rope's end, there was a smear of unidentifiable blood.

The vicious dragon's head's memories held immense fear and trepidation for this item, as if it were a natural predator. The exclusive Magic Artifact used by the Dragon Prison's prison guards to punish vicious dragons—the Dragon Binding Rope!

His eyes sparkling, Qi Xiu involuntarily took half a step forward.

This rope, radiating golden light and an air of nobility, was an extremely powerful Magical Treasure.

In the vicious dragon's memories, five Dragon Prison guards, wielding these Dragon Binding Ropes, had pursued hundreds of vicious dragons, leaving them with no escape, neither to the heavens above nor to the earth below.
