Picking Up Girls With Game Exploits! (Yuri)

Chapter 176: Debrief En-Route

"EIRLYS, CAN I YELL?!"

"What?"

"CAN I YELL?! I WANT TO SCREAM! THE WIND IS IN MY HAIR, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

"Close the windows, Cory!"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Unlike what millitary first person shooter games had taught me, Eirlys' helicopter actually had doors that are locked tight from the pilot seat, and I couldn't even open if even if I wanted to.

The seats were vinyl too, can you imagine that? Vinyl seats! On a helicopter! There were nine seats total; two in the cockpit, two with their back turned against the said cockpit seats, accessed directly with the passenger door, then two facing those said two, and finally, three in the back (actually just one long seat), like a van.

Eirlys sat in the seat that was backed against the co-pilot seat, so that she could easily turn her head to the right and talk to the pilot behind diagonal of her. Meanwhile, I sat opposite of Eirlys, toying with the window on my right.

I had the window open so that I could feel the breeze of the air, I giggled and kicked my feet as I sat there, anchor by the seatbelt and protected by the noise-cancelling headphones. I was having a blast, the time of my life.

The wind would come rolling in and my hair would fly, the hem of my dress would flip up, sometimes over my head if I didn't hold it down. But it's okay I think because Eirlys already knows what my naked ass looks like and the pilot doesn't have rearview mirror, probably.

I probably annoyed Eirlys a bunch, because she closed the windows and gave me a kind of "bullet stare" that put me back in my seat neatly, just like a labrador being called a "bad girl" for biting the neighbor's kid.

The engine was still roaring loud even with the window closed, so I guess there was a genuine reason for these headphones. But the sound of the loud atmospheric wind was no more, therefore, no more yelling.

"So what's the problem at the company that got you rushing at 8PM?" I suddenly asked.

Eirlys frowned and tilted her head very slightly, barely half an inch of movement, before she gestured for me to tap on a button on the headphone.

"Oh right, you can't hear me." I stuck out my tongue embarrassingly. Before doing justh that, and we connected through a microphone, "What's happening at the company? Or Darkmoon Adventure VR? Why are you in such a hurry?"

"..." She looked defeated for a second, before crossing her arms and legs at me, nonchalant like we were sitting at home and not thousands of feet in the air, "What would you call the monetary system in Darkmoon Adventure VR? With a rading system, and prices being influenced by players, rarely manually adjusted."

"Player-driven economy?" I tilted my head.

"That's the term," She nodded, "Darkmoon Adventure VR is prideful for its player-driven economy, which means whenever there is a price fluctuation for an item or to due to the shift in supply and demand, we would never adjust it, even if it was harmful to the progress of newer players…"

Eirlys noticed my confusion and coughed, continuing:

"Just a week ago, there was this player who stockpiles common sword because he found out that smelting them down and reselling them would net a profit. He did net a lot until a guild got out of a 5-days dungeon and started mass-selling their loot, which included a lot of metal. Those two things combined with the reduce of new players significantly lowered the demand."

"Yeah reasonable." I nodded, hand on my chin like the thinker, "You shouldn't interfere with that, he's being rewarded for being an innovator…"

"With that said, however," Eirlys sighed, "What we could not overlook is when the price of literally every single item in every single shop began decreasing in price drastically as every player suddenly gain massive amount of gold coin, even players who only joined a few minutes ago."

"... A hack that gives people a lot of gold?" I tilted my head.

"Do you know anything about this?" She glared at me.

"No no no no! I haven't been online all days, you know this!" I immediately deflected.

Truth was… I know exactly how that happened, because both Ann and I knew how to break the game.

We were an unstoppable force… Three of us, never the same after he's gone, but… Broken record.

Eirlys didn't press me with any questions, since she knew that I was somewhat depressed for the last 24 hours, so she continued without much of a doubt:

"Beginning City and adjacent towns are being affected by players mass-buying everything with their huge amount of gold. This is going to cause a massive inflation… Maybe next when you log on, a cup of tea would cause 10000 gold coins."

"Last report I checked, there was even a level 1 player with 100,000 gold coin roaming around. That number should only be possible for a player around level 200-300. Almost all of Danielle kingdom is being affected by this event, it should spread to Klakku very soon."

After Eirlys explained the situation, I just nodded. For a part of me, I was feeling ashamed, regretful… Since, well, because I wanted to revive my character, she was going to work overtime, and possibly a bunch of other developers, too. As well as players losing more than 24 hours of progress if this pulled through.

"Say… Eirlys." I coughed and changed the subject, "I wondered if Hailie ever flown in a helicopter before? Do you guys allow her to?"

"Helicopter? Never, it's for shorter distances," Eirlys shook her head, "But once a year we fly private jet to a resort island in the Bahamas, so Hailie does fly. Her wheelchair would be transported in the back since it'll take up space in the jet, and Gerald will carry her around during out flight."

"Oh yeah! Gerald, that guy! The butler! I've been meaning to ask, does he also bathe-"

"We're here!"

Without hearing the end of my question, Eirlys pointed out the window as the helicopter began its descend down to a rooftop.
