"Who is it?" Upon discovering the intruder, everyone raised their guns towards the shadow at the window, ready to turn him into a beehive at any unwise move.
"What will you give me in return if I can save him?"
Without anyone seeing how the man in black opened the window, by the time he finished speaking, he was already standing in front of Lion. His speed was so fast it took away breaths. Amidst the chaos, someone fired, and a series of bullets shot from behind him.
The man in black didn't dodge, nor did he move. When everyone thought the bullets would pierce through him and knock him down, he merely turned around. A miracle unfolded before their eyes; he caught the flying bullets with his gloved right hand, not missing a single one.
Lion looked at the masked man in front of him. He waved his hand, signaling everyone in the room to leave. He wasn't worried this man came to kill him; if that were so, he would not still be alive. No one here was his match, including himself.
"You said you could save him, what's the condition?"
The man in black chuckled, his fingers caressing the hilt of a knife.
"For such a degree of injury, an ordinary person would have already been dead, but your man has quite the vitality." The man in black's voice was incredibly hollow and distant; even if he was just a few feet away, it felt so elusive: "There's only one person in this city who can save him, but I doubt he has the time to come over, and even if he did, he wouldn't."
"Who is he?"
"The Military Doctor!" The man in black laughed wickedly.
"Dragon Soul, Military Doctor?"
"Oh, Dragon Soul, is it?" The man in black swayed his body, moving from in front of Lion to the other side: "So, want to save him?"
"What's the condition?" Lion didn't hope for that so-called Military Doctor; the person standing here now was the most likely one. Seeking afar while the near was unwise.
"Why not agree to those two people's demands?"
Lion frowned. From when exactly had this person been here? The security system didn't detect anything.
"Doesn't matter, not cooperating is the right choice. Seems you're not stupid." The man in black continued.
"Who exactly are you?"
"I help you bring this person back to life, but you have to give me your life." The man in black jumped to an empty area on the side. He seemed to be someone who couldn't stay still, always wandering in the room.
"That's a bit difficult; his life isn't valuable enough to exchange with mine." Lion's gaze kept following him, while the breathing of the person lying grew weaker.
"Doesn't matter! Even if you don't give your life to me, it will be given to someone else at some point." The man in black clapped his hands, expressing his regret: "It's a matter of time."
"There should be a third option, right?" Lion rolled his eyes and squinted, judging by his experience, this person's sudden appearance was not simply to kill him.
"Oh! I can give you a much better place to reestablish Liger City, a place way bigger. How about it?" The man in black jumped back to the person lying on the ground, gesturing at his breath with a finger: "Oh, if you don't decide soon, even I won't be able to save him."
"You want me to give up Liger City?" Lion shouted sharply.
"Not give up Liger City, but to give you a much larger place to rebuild it, while I keep this place. I only want an empty city." The man in black impatiently explained, his fickle personality as restless as himself: "You have three more minutes to choose, after which, this person will die, and you will die here too."
"If I say no now, you'll kill me?"
"If I don't kill you, how will I take over this city?" The man in black suddenly felt the old man didn't seem that smart. Such a direct question required repeated explanation, quite troublesome.
"You have a minute and a half left."
"How can I trust you?" Lion asked in a deep voice.
"Oh! You just need to believe that I can kill you."
Lion stared at the mask as if his gaze could pierce through him. This person gave him no room for choice, as he said earlier, death was just a matter of time.
"I..."
"Time's up!" The one who was idling by the door a moment ago appeared in front of Lion in the next second. A flash of cold light swept by, and a sharp dagger appeared at Lion's neck.
"Since you like this kid, I'll let you die like him."
The one lying there no longer breathed; three minutes hadn't exceeded a second, and the man in black shook his head.
"Three minutes isn't long for an experienced person. Is it true as you age, hesitation grows? You could have lived longer, at least until I clean up those who needed it. Unfortunately, your complications made a simple matter so complex. Aren't people afraid of death? Such a simple question needs pondering?" The man in black spoke to himself towards Lion.
Lion's mouth opened, his severed vocal cords couldn't produce a sound.
"What do you want to say?" The man in black looked at Lion's mouth opening and closing, leaning his head closer.
"Why..." A hiss came out from Lion's mouth, the man frowned.
"The Military Doctor! Xiao Lin!" The man in black contemplated for a moment before sharing the answer with Lion, then forcefully pushed the dagger deeper into the throat.
Staring at the two dead bodies, he couldn't help but sigh: "Dealing with dead people is more troublesome than living ones." He looked disdainfully at the corpses before him, knowing there were more outside wanting to join them.
"If only you were a bit smarter, you wouldn't have died, and I wouldn't have been so troubled."
Having said that, the man in black removed his mask, revealing a face identical to Lion's.
"Dispose of the bodies." The cold voice almost froze the air; the man in black seemed to always talk to himself. He opened the door and went out.
"Boss, are you alright!" The subordinates outside eagerly asked as they saw Lion emerge.
"Hmm, bury Xiao Wu's body." Lion coughed twice and entered the elevator.
"Yes!" Although the boss appeared slightly odd, no further thoughts arose, assuming it was due to the loss of a son.
Lion leaned against the corner of the elevator, looking at his face in the mirrored glass.
"Looking pretty good; should have been a handsome young guy, although still slightly inferior to me." Stroking the wrinkled face, Lion talked to himself. Following his usual habit, the elevator stopped on the twenty-fourth floor, the main base of the Liger Gang where all major and minor activities and discussions take place. (To be continued.
