Xiao Lin wasn't without plans; he was determined to take the Xiao Family's position. But before that, he needed to raise Huaxia's power, eliminate unnecessary obstacles, and keep those who would listen.
"You destroyed Poison Dragon, swept away Liger, which seems fine, but unexpectedly implicated 'Black Crow' and 'Darkness'. I don't know whether you are clearing the battlefield for yourself or asking for trouble." Lian teasingly glanced at Xiao Lin, who was looking up at him.
"You make it sound like I was born to seek trouble."
"You wouldn't seek trouble for yourself, but trouble will find you."
Suddenly, Xiao Lin lifted himself and stole a kiss from Lian.
"I just don't want sibling rivalry. No matter how ruthless and cruel to the outside world, it doesn't matter; I'm not some fresh graduate from a military academy. But Xiao Mu is my third brother, the one I least want to face."
"Lin, you weren't born among civilians, so you have to get used to this kind of life." A flush appeared on her cheeks.
"I've fallen into Xiao Mu's trap, with evidence proving Liu Sheng's death is linked to me." This matter could actually be settled by revealing the Dragon Soul identity, and Xiao Mu wouldn't be stupid enough to forget that. The trap is quite fragmented. "I can't understand what Xiao Mu wants, which is what's bothering me."
"When did you become so unconfident? Was such a rough trap enough to mess you up like this?"
"Yeah, this kind of situation is really annoying." Xiao Lin playfully snuggled against Lian's thigh.
"But honestly, on your way here, shouldn't you have already thought about what you want to do?" Lian wouldn't worry about Xiao Lin being like this; a self-loathing Xiao Lin is the most reassuring state.
"Yeah, let me see, your body?"
"What?" Lian exclaimed, her whole face turning as red as a tomato.
"What are you thinking? I'm checking your pulse." Xiao Lin glared at her in frustration due to her shout. "Lao Long didn't mention a word about your affairs in the Middle East. Originally worried whether the soul would have problems, but now it seems fine, yet I'm pondering a question: who exactly are the Fourth Lord and the masked man, their target is me."
With one hand placed on Lian's wrist, Xiao Lin used the other to play with her long hair, his eyes calmly closed. "Why is your breath so chaotic? Are you thinking of something bad?"
"Try speaking nonsense again," Lian coquettishly tried to withdraw her hand, which Xiao Lin held tightly.
"Didn't I tell you not to exercise? Why aren't you listening?" Feeling the gas controlled at the upper abdomen dispersing, Xiao Lin frowned and slowly condensed a warm current in his right palm towards Lian's abdomen. "Use the Profound Lady Heart Scripture to adjust your breath; I'll help channel the energy."
"No!"
"Shut your mouth, don't speak." Xiao Lin sternly scolded once, and the True Qi emanating from his right hand enveloped his entire palm.
Lian obediently muttered the Profound Lady Heart Scripture, her abdomen feeling warmth comfortably spreading to every corner of her body. Yet when the warmth wanted to enter the abdomen, a sharp pain spread through her body, causing her to cry out.
Xiao Lin hurriedly withdrew his right hand and laid her flat on the boxing platform.
"Does it still hurt?" Xiao Lin nervously held Lian's wrist, fortunate that her internal organs didn't suffer much damage; using his True Qi to break through was totally unfeasible, only adding to Lian's pain. "The person who ties the bell must untie it."
"What?" Lian didn't hear what Xiao Lin said clearly, but from his expression, he seemed to have brought trouble to himself again. "Actually, I think you don't need to be so nervous. I don't feel uncomfortable."
"Thanks to the Profound Lady Heart Scripture protecting your other organs, you wouldn't feel bad anywhere."
"Oh, I see." Lian nodded, with no emotional change, seemingly unconcerned.
"I'll carry you to the shower; you're all sweaty."
"I can do it myself." Xiao Lin wouldn't give Lian a chance to resist, scooping her up and heading towards the second floor.
Filling the bathtub with hot water, Lian, sitting on the toilet, wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
"Why are you shy? We used to be stark naked face to face anyway, it's called being straightforward." Xiao Lin felt no shame about being naked in front of Lian, a habit from a long-ago experience, while Lian couldn't manage such foolishness.
"I can bathe myself." Lian, in her spaghetti-strap dress, shoved Xiao Lin out of the bathroom, tested the water temperature, and submerged herself into the water. Now, this relationship seemed somewhat idyllic; she often felt like a third party stuck between Xiao Lin and Xia Xue. From her perspective, the moral violation felt like a heavy burden pressing on her heart, prompting a desire to escape.
"Lian!" Xiao Lin leaned against the bathroom door. "I'll be responsible for you."
Crazy! Lian sweetly cursed inside, questioning what he would be responsible for. What about Xia Xue? Did this guy understand domestic law? No matter who he chose, it would hurt the other.
"At worst, I won't get married and always stay by your side. How's that?" For him to get some Arab nationality, not to mention the old man, even his mom would kill him with a knife; besides, domestic law doesn't allow polygamy, so the simplest way would be not getting married. "The law didn't say dating two girlfriends is a criminal act."
"Go as far away as you can, don't appear before me." Lian buried her head in the water; such a theory truly outraged men and gods alike with anger.
"I'm coming in!" Xiao Lin stealthily opened the bathroom door, yet found no sign of Lian in the bathtub. "Lian? Why are you submerged in the water? Aren't you afraid of suffocating?" Extending one hand, Xiao Lin lifted Lian out of the water. The woman emerging like a goddess distracted him for a moment; he merely wanted to come in to scrub her back.
Screams echoed in the distance, reaching the ears of those defending their safety, accustomed to such shrieking. From initially perceived crisis to now indifferent smiles, uncertain if this result signifies a bigger danger, like the aftermath of the boy who cried wolf.
Xiao Lin dug at his ears, begrudgingly kicked out of the bathroom once more; he only wanted to kindly scrub her back, why was it so ungrateful?
"Xiao Lin, do you even have the concept of restraint, men are creatures who think with their lower body." Lian furiously controlled herself from the bathroom, her face still flushed.
Yet Xiao Lin innocently lowered his head to examine himself, his eager little brother naturally couldn't be blamed on him; it's a result of natural reaction.
"That's instinct, okay?" Xiao Lin protested, albeit it softly enough that only he could hear it. (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to visit Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation or monthly vote. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
