System: My Doomsday Train

Chapter 198: "Zombie Volcano

"... "

A flicker of horror passed through Chen Mang's eyes as he glanced at the train panel. He had only one thought now, which was to quickly upgrade to a Level 9 train and escape the "Zombie Basin", a situation that almost promised certain death!

At the speed at which those zombies were digging!

In at most another day, those endless zombies would break through the ground!

And what was even more fatal—

The entire "Zombie Basin" was indeed a giant volcano, with the eruption point at the very core and also the lowest point of the basin, only what spewed forth wasn't lava, but endless zombies.

He couldn't determine how many zombies there were in that giant underground cavern.

The screen of the target detection radar had already been completely dyed red. Just the Level 9 zombies, he saw dozens of them, along with more Level 9 monsters he'd never seen before.

With so many zombies erupting, among all the trains in the Zombie Basin, without exception, none would survive!

...

The tunnel that led vertically underground had thick steel plates laid on both sides, which were laid by zombies constructing human ladders.

Such steel plates could block the detection from the "Target Detection Radar".

But they couldn't block his; his target detection radar was Level 20, and the steel plates couldn't shield its detection at all.

He must escape!

Chen Mang quickly made up his mind; returning to the Shahe Plain was no longer an option. The train must immediately be upgraded to Level 9, escaping to the high blue zone. He looked at the upgrade conditions for an 8th Level train on the train panel.

-

"Upgrade Conditions": All necessary vehicle accessories must be crafted entirely, consuming 100,000 units of Level 2 iron ore, requiring all accessory levels inside the carriage to exceed level 160, and possessing five supermodel effects.

-

He perfectly met these conditions.

The train panel indicated the train had 1.9 million units of iron ore.

But...

Clearly, there were enough resources for upgrading to level 8, but certainly not for level 9.

No way.

He quickly dismissed this suggestion; Level 10 was a significant hurdle. Entering such an advanced area so rashly without being fully prepared meant crises would be everywhere, even if he went to the advanced area.

If the Train Armor could be upgraded to Level 9, he might survive this crisis.

"... "

Chen Mang looked somewhat grim as he glanced at the "Wagon Steel Armor" accessory. The Fixed Star had a total of 15 wagons and one locomotive, with each wagon's "armor" costing 500,000 to upgrade from Level 8 to Level 9.

Which meant he needed 8 million units of iron ore.

He was short by exactly 6 million.

He couldn't make up this gap within one day; unless he could find a Level 4 iron mine, and everyone went all hands on deck, it might be possible to mine 6 million units of iron ore within 24 hours.

But, Level 4 iron mines are not so easily encountered.

The armor level of his train was already considered high among all trains, as upgrading defense accessories inherently consumed resources significantly. Among the few "Level 8 trains" he met last time, some only had Level 7 Energy Shields and many Level 9 trains merely had Level 8 or Level 7 Energy Shields.

...

"... "

Chen Mang operated the train out of the ground, closed his eyes, leaned back in the chair, his face gradually relaxing, allowing himself to be in a state of as calm as possible, starting to constantly contemplate the foundation of every component within the train.

A minute later.

He opened his eyes and looked at the roaring wind outside the window.

Lit a cigarette.

The smoke curled up around the top of the train, reluctant to dissipate.

He found the solution.

First, he would announce this news. The Zombie Basin had quite a few Level 9 trains; most of the trains were high attack low defense. Although these trains didn't have Level 9 armor, these trains could kill Level 9 zombies.

He also had the ability to kill Level 9 zombies.

But he lacked copper ore.

Gather all trains together, have the trains hand over most of their copper ores to those capable of killing Level 9 zombies, and let them be responsible for clearing out the Level 9 zombies while everyone else holds off the Level 8 and Level 7 zombies together. Zombies of any lower level, even in large numbers, could only trap the train in place, unable to break through the train's defenses.

This is... the most idealized solution.

With this plan, most trains could survive.

The next alternative would be, in the absence of cooperation, he'd have to do his best to gather 800 million units of iron ore amidst the crisis. The quickest way, naturally, was to plunder other trains.

As long as he could plunder enough iron ore resources.

Whether other trains survived was unclear, but he certainly could survive this crisis.

After a pause.

He controlled the train to quickly leave here, rapidly returning the way they had come, heading toward the open-air Level 2 iron mine they encountered earlier. Despite it being only a Level 2 iron mine, given the current situation, there was no more room for deliberation; mining a little was valuable.

And in the train radio, he sent out a pinned message.

-

"Constant Star Train": I've detected that the Zombie Basin is about to burst forth with the largest Corpse Tide ever recorded, potentially within a day, spewing zombies from the central basin like a volcanic eruption.

The number of zombies could be in the tens of thousands or even nearly a million; only detected data is that there are dozens of Level 9 zombies.

This is a giant disaster that will involve all trains.

All trains must band together to avoid this disaster.

I hope to receive responses from all Level 9 trains.

I possess the capability to kill Level 9 zombies.

As long as we kill all Level 9 zombies, the remaining ones, although in great numbers, would not pose much harm to the remaining trains. I lack copper ore, and the other Level 9 trains also lack copper ore.
