"Hahahaha..."
In the library, the Grandmaster listened to Ao Luan's account and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"You should now understand why my disciple has the ability to divide the world into three parts, right?"
He asked with a smile.
Ao Luan nodded, her heart full of disappointment.
*The same principle applied, Sun Wukong listened and could casually write a character, but she felt like she was grasping at flowers in the fog, unable to touch anything solid.*
"There's no need to be disheartened."
The Grandmaster, seeing the expression on Ao Luan's face, couldn't help but reassure her, "You have the qualifications of an Immortal, your understanding is not inferior, it's just that my disciple is somewhat exceptional."
He paused for a moment and laughed twice, "He can truly be said to be unmatched in the world."
The Grandmaster knew well that although Maitreya Buddha had a broad heart, as the future master of the Buddhist path, how could he easily reveal the divine skills of Buddhism to Sun Wukong?
The path Maitreya Buddha elaborated on must have been merely some superficial matters, at most allowing Sun Wukong to comprehend some minor divine skills.
But he underestimated Sun Wukong's comprehension, for Sun Wukong often could infer many things from a minor point, reveal to him the path, and he could deduce the Tao from it.
With this process over a few decades, how could the divine skills of Buddhism escape Sun Wukong's grasp?
"I really want to see the reaction of the Buddhist path at that time."
The Grandmaster thought, feeling extremely joyful inside.
"Grandmaster."
Ao Luan saluted the Grandmaster and asked, "The Buddhist path has so many spells, why is Brother particularly interested in those divine skills?"
"This is related to runes."
The Grandmaster replied, "The Wanling Immortal Path he wants to create is closely related to runes."
Ao Luan was taken aback.
"How can it be related to runes?"
She looked puzzled, weren't the words transformed into true words by the Buddhist path a different kind of divine skill from runes?
"Since ancient times, text, language, and drawings have been one."
The Grandmaster told Ao Luan, "They are naturally carriers of spells."
Maitreya Buddha, within the Wanling Hall, transformed words into spells, which is similar in nature to runes.
Runes are also spells, they can't be casually drawn, they must be structured, with rune bases, rune feet, rune orifices, every structure has its own particularities and rules.
And the characters written by Maitreya Buddha could be said to be the highest form of runes, where structure is omitted, and will is infused into the words.
"At the pinnacle of the Tao lies will."
The Grandmaster guided Ao Luan.
The highest level of divine skills is indeed those that symbolize will.
"He who has great divine skills can do anything and create the Tao on their own."
The Master Puti lastly said, "Wukong is at such a stage."
Ao Luan understood.
She thanked the Grandmaster for his guidance.
"No need to thank me, in a few days, come with me to have a look."
The Grandmaster smiled and said, "My disciple has certainly realized something."
Thus, a few days later, when Sun Wukong emerged from seclusion, he saw the two of them.
"Have you realized anything, my disciple?"
The Grandmaster asked.
Sun Wukong glanced at Ao Luan beside him and nodded, "What the Eastern Buddha said is true, the Tao of True Words indeed varies from person to person."
He had understood many things even without the Grandmaster's guidance.
He realized some details within the Heavenly Book, like how the Bodhisattva Guanyin used the character 'mystify' to attract Red Boy, a character that carried Guanyin's personality traits.
And how Maitreya Buddha used the character 'forbid' to control Yellow Brows Child, appearing more domineering.
Furthermore, how the Tathāgata used a line of text to suppress 'Sun Wukong' for five hundred years, where the power of that line was closely related to the Buddha's will.
"This is what I have realized."
Sun Wukong extended his hand, and the Heavenly Venerate Seal floated onto his palm.
Within the Jade Seal, a brilliant light sparkled.
The Grandmaster looked and was shaken in his heart, "The seed of the Tao!"
He saw within the Jade Seal a seed.
Sun Wukong had long had conjectures about the Wanling Immortal Path, but today was the genuine first step forward.
With the seed of the Tao formed, what remained was time.
He still needed a lot of knowledge and technology to integrate various spells truly, allowing the seed to sprout.
"You've been exploring for over ten years, and you've finally taken this step."
The Grandmaster was both shocked and delighted, then calmed down and said, "Since this is so, I have a question, and you should answer."
Sun Wukong looked at him in confusion.
"The runes of Wanling City are different from the ordinary Daoist talismans."
The Grandmaster said, "I have not seen the names of any Immortals on them."
On the runes of Wanling City, he had never seen the names of any Immortals.
This was a highly unusual phenomenon because Daoist talismans themselves, the vast majority, are about seeking power from the Immortals.
It is primarily through the naming of Immortals that the main line of Daoist talismans is formed.
However, the Daoist talismans of Wanling City took a different route, using spiritual energy, but without borrowing the power of the gods.
"You did this deliberately, am I right?"
The Grandmaster asked.
Sun Wukong nodded.
"Brother prohibited the use of Immortal names at Huaguo Mountain."
Ao Luan said from the side.
She had witnessed the development of runes.
Back at Huaguo Mountain, when they were developing runes, the first thing Sun Wukong did was to prohibit demons from borrowing the power of Immortals in their runes.
Demons themselves were not fond of Immortals, and they were quite willing to develop runes relying on their own power, which developed the once niche runes to what they are today.
This had already paved a new path.
"Your initial idea was not wrong."
The Grandmaster nodded, the demons back then had to become self-reliant, indeed it wasn't suitable to use the power of Immortals.
It was easy for the Heavenly Palace to grasp their weaknesses.
"But today's situation is different."
The Grandmaster said, "For the development of runes, you should permit demons to borrow the power of Immortals."
He looked at Sun Wukong, "Especially you, you already became a Heavenly Venerate, you have Immortals under your command, why not use them?"
Sun Wukong now ruled the Western Continent, the situation was entirely different from the past.
"You are right, Master."
Sun Wukong nodded.
He wasn't a stubborn person; back then, he prohibited it mainly as a precaution against the Heavenly Palace.
Now, the runes of Wanling City had already become a system of their own, communicating with the energy of heaven and earth without the names of Immortals.
Under these circumstances, he saw no reason to be so conservative.
"Tomorrow, I will give orders to lift the restrictions, allowing the use of Immortal names from Wanling City in the runes."
Sun Wukong said.
"No rush!"
However, the Grandmaster shook his head, "Start with yourself first."
"Me?"
Sun Wukong's thoughts moved, and the Jade Seal suddenly radiated light.
Amidst the light, a figure slowly took shape.
"What is this?"
Sun Wukong looked over.
This was a strange figure, looking like both a drawing and a character.
"This is your Taoist character."
The Grandmaster said.
The Jade Seal had its own spirituality, understanding what Sun Wukong needed, and the characters that appeared represented Sun Wukong.
"What character is this?"
The script was so ancient that Sun Wukong couldn't determine which character it was.
"This is the sacred character."
Ao Luan recognized it.
Her eyes lit up slightly, this was the primordial sacred character, ancient people called the lord of heaven "God," and the lord of earth "Sacred."
Sun Wukong being the sacred character, didn't mean he wasn't a god.
This was a commonly held will among people, recognizing Sun Wukong as suitable for presiding over earthly matters.
"With this character, you can develop a rune system centered around you."
The Master Puti said.
