Outside the Tongming Hall, countless Heavenly Soldiers and Generals arranged themselves in dense formations.
Sun Wukong walked slowly by himself.
The soldiers and generals looked at the staff in his hand, their bodies trembling with fear.
The Immortal Officials who had followed after moving their homes also looked gravely at Sun Wukong as he made his way toward the Tongming Hall.
"We must act now."
The Northern Dipper Star Monarch said, "If we don't, the Heavenly Palace will be destroyed!"
No matter what, Sun Wukong had swept through the Heavenly Palace and reached the Tongming Hall without any intention of stopping.
Even though they were on good terms with Sun Wukong, they could no longer stand by without taking action.
"That's correct."
"We have to stop him."
The Immortal Officials made up their minds and flew toward Sun Wukong.
"Sun Wukong!"
In front of the Tongming Hall, the gate-guarding Heavenly General shouted, "Do you really want to—"
Before he could finish his sentence, Sun Wukong lifted the Jingu Bang and gently waved it.
The gate-guarding Heavenly General, along with countless Heavenly Soldiers behind him, was instantly swept away by the gust from the staff.
A hurricane swept through the Tongming Hall, and the palace in front was destroyed completely.
Raging fires burned in the ruins, countless soldiers trapped within the sea of flames.
Such a tragic scene caused the advancing Immortal Officials to stop in their tracks.
"I think we should wait and see."
The Water Virtues Star Monarch wiped his sweat.
"I, I think so too..."
The Martial Virtues Star Monarch nodded.
"A wise decision, a wise decision."
Seeing the two leaders stop, the Immortal Officials all breathed a sigh of relief and echoed in agreement.
What a joke, with such power, even if they all went up, they wouldn't be enough to withstand a single swing of the staff!
The Immortal Officials watched as Sun Wukong slowly walked forward.
Debris continuously shattered and fell around him as he walked through the fire and through the ruins, heading slowly towards the Palace of the Polestar.
The firelight cast a scarlet battle cloak over Sun Wukong's invincible figure.
Ah, finally arrived…
Sun Wukong looked at the grand palace drenched in golden light.
Finally reached this point…
*Sun Wukong thought to himself, ahead was the final obstacle.*
"Sun Wukong,"
the Queen Mother, leaning on a cane, stood in front of the Palace of the Polestar.
Sun Wukong stared at her.
"His Majesty's actions towards you,"
the Queen Mother suddenly put down her cane and knelt on the ground, "were all advised by this old self. I am willing to accept your judgment, can you stop here?"
The Immortals who saw this all gasped and knelt along with her.
The Queen Mother, being the head of the female Immortals in the Three Realms, was of such exalted honor, and today she was humbly begging Sun Wukong for mercy.
If she hadn't been forced to, why would she resort to this?
"Great Saint, please stop!"
The Immortals shouted.
Sun Wukong stood still, then shook his head.
"Even if she didn't say it, he would do it sooner or later."
*Ever since being trapped in the Flask of Yin and Yang Essence, Sun Wukong had fully realized that regardless of anything, he and the Jade Emperor would inevitably have a falling out.*
*To change the Three Realms, he couldn't place his hopes on others.*
"Step aside!"
Sun Wukong said, "I won't kill you."
The Queen Mother shook her head.
"After the great catastrophe, heaven and earth were opened; in that Hongmeng Era,"
the Queen Mother said, "it was His Majesty who opened the Heaven Palace, set the Heavenly Rules, and organized the world's order, leading to today's Three Realms."
She looked Sun Wukong straight in the eyes.
"If you harm His Majesty, the Three Realms will fall into chaos. Is this what you desire?"
Sun Wukong's eyes turned slightly cold.
"I have matters to attend to; if the Jade Emperor is unwilling to comply, then I will cause the Three Realms to be destroyed and rebuilt."
Sun Wukong said.
*By destroying the existing system, the Three Realms could be reborn.*
*If it continued to be maintained, the lingering issues would bind and restrict—ultimately, short-term pain would be better than long-term struggles.*
"Within five hundred years, I will surely establish a new order."
Sun Wukong stated.
The Queen Mother looked at him in shock, "And what about those five hundred years! Do you wish to plunge the living beings of the Three Realms into chaos! How can you be so cruel?"
"Because I have witnessed history,"
Sun Wukong answered, "I understand what is most important."
*His enlightenment was a history of civilization's development.*
*From beginning to end, his view of the world was not limited to a particular time or place, but spanned a long history.*
*If he could remove the old obstacles and establish a new world, it would benefit ten thousand years into the future, so what of five hundred years of chaos?*
*Moreover, without such determination, how could he possibly make the Jade Emperor change?*
"I don't need five hundred years; he will agree with me."
Sun Wukong declared.
*He didn't think the Jade Emperor would refuse his proposal—because it was his only way out.*
"If you don't leave, then I will make you!"
Sun Wukong raised the Jingu Bang towards the Queen Mother.
"Hold on—"
Suddenly a majestic voice sounded.
Immediately, a gigantic hand descended from the sky, breaking through the clouds and the wind.
*Sun Wukong's heart tightened, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.*
*So it has finally come.*
His Long Stick instantly ignited with fierce golden flames, ready to strike the giant hand.
"Amitabha..."
Suddenly, another voice resounded.
A burst of Buddha Light enveloped Sun Wukong; he turned to find a face he hadn't seen before standing beside him.
*Although it was their first meeting, this person gave an oddly familiar feeling.*
The features seemed somewhat like Elder Jin Chan's, but both the attire and countenance were much more handsome than Elder Jin Chan's.
This was the original form of Jin Chanzi.
The giant hand in the sky withdrew.
"Jin Chanzi, what are you doing?"
The righteous presence of the Tathāgata Buddha appeared in the skies with a fragrant breeze.
The Immortals quickly straightened their attire, went over to pay their respects, and greeted the Buddha.
Even Immortal Zhenyuan and Emperor Donghua bowed to this greatest Divine Power in the Three Realms.
The Tathāgata Buddha nodded slightly, then looked at Jin Chanzi, "Why did you stop me?"
"Buddha..."
Jin Chanzi said, "The Jade Emperor unjustly imprisoned Sun Wukong and sought to kill him, which led Sun Wukong to rebel with his staff. Buddha, you cannot disregard cause and effect, then strike him down."
*Hearing this, those already aware remained calm, but most of the Immortal Officials were in an uproar.*
"His Majesty wants to kill the Great Saint?"
"How is this possible!"
The Immortal Officials' first reaction was disbelief.
But how could Elder Jin Chan lie to the Buddha in front of so many people?
The Beidou Star Monarch furrowed his brow, "What the Queen Mother said earlier also seemed to suggest this..."
*The Immortal Officials were shocked; during the time the Great Saint had been in the Heavenly Court, he had been incredibly amiable with no faults. Why would His Majesty seek to kill him?*
*If this were indeed the case, then the Great Saint causing turmoil in the Heavenly Palace couldn't be heavily blamed.*
"Jin Chanzi,"
the Tathāgata ignored the other Immortals and said, "Regardless of the cause, the Palace of the Polestar is the symbol of the Heavenly Palace and cannot be destroyed by Sun Wukong."
"Then let him meet with the Emperor Jade."
Elder Jin Chan clasped his hands and said, "Allow them to discuss properly and then decide."
*The Tathāgata slightly frowned; the Jade Emperor had invited him to mediate, which was a desperately needed task.*
*He could seize this opportunity to convert Sun Wukong and have him return to the Western Heaven with him.*
*Why would Jin Chanzi suddenly intervene, wanting Sun Wukong and the Jade Emperor to negotiate?*
*Wasn't Jin Chanzi obstructing his great plan?*
*Just as the Tathāgata was about to speak, there was a sudden loud crash.*
He turned to see a staff lodged above the Palace of the Polestar, flames roaring downward from it, causing the golden-glazed immortal tiles to blaze fiercely.
"My apologies,"
Sun Wukong said calmly, "I slipped."
All at once, everyone was stunned.
No one had anticipated Sun Wukong doing this.
Including the Tathāgata Buddha…
