The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 236: This is Not Written by Us

The merchant caravan arrived at a small town.

Before any trade could take place, a group of people led by academy scholars surrounded the caravan.

"We do not welcome merchandise from Wanling Country, get out of here."

The academy scholar shouted.

The people of the caravan were all very surprised.

Only Lady Earth Flow was calm: "We will stay here for one night, and we will not engage in any trade."

The townsfolk were skeptical and began to keep watch over them.

"Why do they dislike us so much?"

At night, a little demon asked Lady Earth Flow.

"The leaders are several academy scholars."

Lady Earth Flow answered, "They fear that we would sell spiritual objects to them, causing their children to learn and themselves to lose their jobs."

She could see through the reason at a glance.

Academy scholars were respected, so they could incite the people to resist change.

But they could not change anything.

"Then let's leave."

Someone else said, "Why stay here?"

"I want to find the Great Saint."

Lady Earth Flow answered, she deliberately came to this troublesome place because Sun Wukong might appear.

It had been more than a decade since she last saw him, and she hoped that the Great Saint would affirm her actions.

She had adopted many little demons along the way, and if Sun Wukong saw her kind-heartedness, perhaps he would reward her.

Lady Earth Flow instructed the caravan's guards to not miss Sun Wukong.

At midnight, cries of alarm arose from the guards.

"The Shadow Talisman has appeared."

Their voices woke up Lady Earth Flow.

As expected, she briskly stepped out of her carriage.

On the streets of the town, the academy scholars were staring grimly at the Shadow Talisman ahead.

"Quick, move it away!"

They ordered people to move the Shadow Talisman.

But such an act aroused the anger of the land.

"What a bold move, daring to steal my divine offerings!"

The land immediately hid the Shadow Talisman.

The Shadow Talisman suddenly disappeared, leaving the villagers dumbfounded.

However, Lady Earth Flow didn't care about this.

"Where is the Great Saint, where is he!"

She looked around, asking, "Did anyone see who moved this stone here?"

"I didn't see clearly."

Someone shook their head.

"It's in the sky!"

Someone else pointed upwards, Lady Earth Flow lifted her head and saw a person flying away swiftly on a Wind Fire Wheel.

"Who is that?"

Lady Earth Flow had not heard of such a character in Wanling Country.

Sun Wukong had delegated the task of distributing the Shadow Talisman to the least noticeable Immortal in Wanling Country.

The time he pulled out, he spent it on the Shadow Talisman.

Sun Wukong liked the Shadow Talisman very much.

The Shadow Talisman was a good item; he had chosen it as the first experiment for Wanling Immortal Path.

It took a year for him and Elder Jin Chan to complete this experiment.

After completion, the Shadow Talisman turned into a mirror.

When an image of a person appeared in the mirror, the researchers were overjoyed.

"Success!"

Elder Guang Hui was thrilled by his contribution.

"Can it still be called a Shadow Talisman?"

Elder Jin Chan asked Sun Wukong.

"Let's call it the Talisman Mirror."

Sun Wukong replied.

This mirror was the second generation of the Shadow Talisman, and Sun Wukong personally improved the runes within.

Actually, he had succeeded six months ago, but it took Elder Jin Chan and the others half a year to learn those runes and then apply them to the Talisman Mirror.

Although this Talisman Mirror was weak and not suitable for combat, it was the first spiritual object that could truly display images.

Sun Wukong called for Daji.

As soon as Daji came over, she wanted to complain: "Great King, I don't want to do this anymore."

"Take a look at this Talisman Mirror first."

Sun Wukong said, "It can let more people see you."

"Really?"

Daji was stunned for a moment, then after watching the demonstration on the Talisman Mirror, she immediately became overjoyed.

Sun Wukong arranged more work for her, and she happily accepted it.

Subsequently, the Talisman Mirror officially went on sale in Wanling Country, drawing insane fervor.

"Can the Wanling Immortal Path actually modify Spiritual Objects?"

In less than a month, the other Immortals came looking for Sun Wukong.

"Great Saint, how did you do it?"

Sun Wukong shook his head: "The Wanling Immortal Path can naturally integrate with Spiritual Objects."

The technological core of Wanling Country is runes, and the Wanling Immortal Path, to be strict, also pertains to runes, which naturally come into use in the manufacture of Spiritual Objects.

Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad stared at the Talisman Mirror, his eyes gleaming.

"Does this mean that the Wanling Immortal Path can find me a new method for alchemy?"

"Possibly."

Sun Wukong nodded.

Lord Lao Zi was overjoyed.

"Great Saint, you've got to simplify it quickly."

All the Immortals immediately realized the importance of learning the new Immortal Path.

Sun Wukong shook his head: "I also wish to hasten it."

The Wanling Immortal Path is very complex, he hadn't truly finished it, unable to summarize it, nor easily teach it.

Because most of the Immortals couldn't understand the entire Immortal Path, Sun Wukong decided to first apply it industrially.

By using this method to teach Immortals, they could comprehend part of the Immortal Path system.

"If we could create the medium."

Sun Wukong said: "Perhaps the speed of understanding and summarization would be faster."

"You mentioned that medium, it doesn't have a name yet, right?"

Immortal Zhenyuan suddenly spoke: "I suggest we name it first."

He immediately shifted Sun Wukong's focus.

"What name?"

Sun Wukong asked.

"Ginsengfruit."

Immortal Zhenyuan answered.

The Immortals began to complain.

"That name is too arbitrary, it might as well be called a Spiritual Treasure!"

"No, I think it should be called Rune Treasure."

Someone said, since it is centered on runes, it would best reflect its characteristics.

Lord Lao Zi also became interested.

"Great Saint."

He asked Sun Wukong: "Is that just a medium for words and spells?"

"No."

Sun Wukong shook his head: "It must carry the Immortal Dao, connecting all things."

The medium he needed was more than just a medium; it also had to carry the Dao laws of the Wanling Immortal Path, like a computer, once formed, it could connect all things and explore the essence of matters.

The citizens of Wanling Country could gain wisdom from it and develop a thriving civilization.

"It's like the Spiritual Network."

Sun Wukong finally said: "It's the infrastructure leading to the future."

The Immortals were surprised, then started to discuss.

"Connecting all things, exploring all matters, this is Grasping the Essence of Things."

Master Puti spoke: "Since that's the case, why not call it 'Boundless'?"

"Boundless?"

Sun Wukong looked over.

"Man has limits, knowledge is boundless."

Grandmaster replied.

Sun Wukong raised his eyebrows, thinking it was a good idea.

But the other Immortals were not satisfied, arguing incessantly.

"Let's draw lots!"

Seven Spider Demons who came over to join in the fun suggested.

Although it was a child's suggestion, all Immortals found it very good, so they wrote their favorite names on slips of paper and placed them into a box.

Sun Wukong drew a slip of paper from the box.

Looking at the two twisted characters on it, he couldn't help but glance at the Spider Demons.

"Did you guys write too?"

Seven Spider Demons nodded.

Sun Wukong thought for a moment: "Then let's go with this name."

The Immortals asked: "What name?"

Sun Wukong unfolded the slip of paper, which bore two characters.

Kite.
