The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 329: Land 329th Scroll: This world is now in your hands.

Plain Swords hovered in the air, their bodies flickering vaguely, without light or color.

The sudden appearance of a myriad of swords seemed to tear the sky apart, generating twisted ripples.

Sun Wukong swept his gaze over them, noticing that these intermittently flashing Tribulation Swords were somewhat less powerful than when he first saw them.

He then shrank the Jingu Bang and tucked it into his ear.

"What is he doing?"

The Jade Emperor slightly frowned.

The next moment, the space behind Sun Wukong also began to twist.

Pairs of Light Swords, about three feet long, hovered in the air, confronting the Jade Emperor's Plain Swords across a distance.

"How can you also wield the Tribulation Sword!"

The Jade Emperor asked Sun Wukong with a stern face.

The Divine Skills deployed by Sun Wukong were almost identical to his.

But that was impossible; even if he knew the Cultivation Techniques, without having undergone the great tribulation, Sun Wukong could not possibly have comprehended the Tribulation Sword.

"I have been through the great tribulation."

Sun Wukong answered matter-of-factly.

"Nonsense!"

The Jade Emperor didn't believe him, all the tips of the Plain Swords directly aimed at where Sun Wukong stood.

He raised his hand, and the sword rain swooped over like a dangerous swarm of bees.

Though not glamorous, the fearful potency of the Tribulation Sword was not to be underestimated by anyone.

It cannot be blocked by any Immortal Law, and once hit, it's as though one has personally undergone a huge tribulation; its power is unparalleled.

"Go!"

Sun Wukong's eyes were stern, and the golden light behind him also shot forward.

Countless radiance intertwined in the sky.

The two different types of Tribulation Swords collided like ice and fire, bursting out dazzling light.

However, unexpectedly, as soon as they touched, they annihilated each other and disappeared.

Without making any sound.

It was like countless silent fireworks burst in the sky.

This magnificent yet eerie sight, amidst the pervasive murderous intent, captivated some Immortals.

"How beautiful."

An Inspector Spirit Official, enchanted, took a step forward, but just as he did, his body suddenly soared into the air, sucked towards those fireworks.

"Space is twisting!"

Emperor Qinghua's face drastically changed.

"Come back!"

With a sweep of his right hand through the air, he instantly pulled back the Inspector Spirit Official.

"That is a clash of the Heavenly Dao, getting close may disperse one's soul!"

Holding onto the Spirit Official, he stepped back a few paces, looking forward with a shocked gaze.

The battle between Sun Wukong and the Jade Emperor seemed devoid of fireworks but was already a clash of the Heavenly Dao, transcending ordinary fights.

Should an Immortal carelessly approach, they would be sucked by the twisted space and ground into dust.

The Immortals quickly retreated, watching from afar with lingering fear.

"What are you really trying to do?"

Amid the dazzling light, the Jade Emperor asked.

"Give me the Jade Seal."

Sun Wukong answered: "Let me govern the Three Realms for two hundred years."

The Jade Emperor frowned deeply: "What if I refuse?"

"I will then force you to agree."

Sun Wukong answered.

The Jade Emperor deeply felt the situation was tricky.

His Immortal Body was damaged, unable to maintain the Tribulation Sword for long, and soon he would no longer be able to hold out.

But Sun Wukong, with his extensive Divine Skills, still appeared composed, seemingly with power to spare.

"When did he become so strong?"

The Jade Emperor pondered, his eyes vaguely conjuring some visions.

These were signals from collisions and fusions of Tribulation Swords, transmitting Sun Wukong's past tribulations.

He saw endless runes and texts, countless research, wisdom and efforts of numerous people.

It was a world vibrant with life, every being full of hope for the future.

The Jade Emperor's heart trembled.

How could such a world exist.

He raised his head, watching the swords crossing the skies.

Scenes after scenes flashed before his eyes, as if he had already experienced them.

He shifted his gaze away, then immediately saw Sun Wukong's eyes.

Those deep, willful eyes.

Ah… so it is…

Thinking thus, the Jade Emperor found the answers to his questions.

He closed his eyes, intuitively exploring and feeling Sun Wukong's Tribulation Sword.

Even though it was only slight fragments brought by the Tribulation Sword, it was sufficient for the Jade Emperor to comprehend many things.

He made up his mind.

"If I persistently refuse to hand over the Jade Seal, would you kill me?"

The Jade Emperor opened his eyes and asked.

Sun Wukong slightly furrowed his brows; he was reluctant to kill the Jade Emperor, but if the Jade Emperor would rather die...

His answer was: "Yes."

The Jade Emperor looked at him: "Even if you know what will happen after my death?"

Before Sun Wukong's eyes floated scenes of the beings of the Three Realms displaced, and chaos spreading across the land.

"Yes."

Sun Wukong calmly said, "I will heal the pain."

Since he had already made his choice, he had anticipated the worst outcome long ago.

"Aren't you afraid of being hated by the Three Realms, carrying the curse of eternal infamy?"

The Jade Emperor asked again.

Sun Wukong nodded.

If he could awaken the people of that world, the turmoil of the Three Realms would quickly subside, and the Jade Emperor would understand his hardship.

However, he currently had no method to awaken all beings, so he couldn't make the Jade Emperor and the Immortals believe him.

Rather than spending a long time persuading, forcing the Jade Emperor to hand over the Jade Seal was the quickest method.

"No matter what, I must obtain the Jade Seal."

Sun Wukong said.

The Jade Emperor looked at him incredulously, wondering what kind of past and future he had endured to possess such unwavering determination?

He knew he couldn't stop Sun Wukong; even Buddha couldn't stop him; that's why he didn't come.

In the Three Realms, no one could stop Sun Wukong from pursuing his ideals.

The Jade Emperor stopped talking, sensing his body could no longer support using the Tribulation Sword, he sighed.

"So be it."

The next moment, the myriad Plain Swords disappeared, leaving only one floating in mid-air.

With no Plain Swords blocking them, the Golden Swords roared towards the Jade Emperor like floodwaters breaking through a dam.

"Stop!"

Seeing the Jade Emperor's abnormal behavior, Sun Wukong was shocked and immediately halted his attack.

The myriad Golden Tribulation Swords quietly hovered in the air, barely missing piercing through the Jade Emperor.

"Indeed so."

The Jade Emperor sighed.

That last Plain Sword suddenly descended from the sky, its invisible and formless blade piercing through him.

Blood instantly spilled across the clouds, the sky and sea of clouds illuminated by flames, which then truly turned blood-red.

The Heavenly Palace seemed to wail, and the omen of the change of Heavenly Emperors had already appeared.

"Your Majesty!"

The Immortals, caught off guard, cried out, but were restrained by the terrifying aura of the Golden Tribulation Swords and couldn't step forward.

Sun Wukong, being closest to him and too surprised to intervene, immediately rushed over to support the faltering Jade Emperor.

"You..."

It never crossed his mind that the Jade Emperor would choose suicide.

"Your Majesty!"

The Jade Emperor opened his eyes; the fearful cries of the Immortals sounded as if coming from another world.

"Why do this!"

Sun Wukong asked in shock, as the Jade Emperor's blood quickly soaked through his hands, staining his armor and seeping into a corner of his cloak, turning it blood-red.

"My Immortal Body is damaged, ultimately unable to stop you."

The Jade Emperor's expression calmed, saying, "You wish to create the future, while I wish to protect the present."

"Both of us are for the Heavenly Dao..."

The Jade Emperor slowly said, "This is for the best."

Sun Wukong clenched his teeth: "You didn't have to die!"

"I know...you wanted the Heavenly Emperor Jade Seal, but you didn't want my death."

The Jade Emperor smiled, saying, "I wasn't wrong about you."

He felt somewhat relieved.

The scenes displayed within that Tribulation Sword were not false.

Sun Wukong eventually ceasing his attack, just as he had anticipated.

Although their stances differed, even if Sun Wukong embraced the Heavenly Dao, his innate goodness hadn't changed.

He was still the person who could walk shoulder to shoulder with him.

"Go ahead, this is the path you chose."

With blood-soaked hands, the Jade Emperor grasped Sun Wukong: "I won't let the Immortals follow you; it might only lessen your sins."

Sun Wukong was lost for words.

"I'm tired; it's time to sleep."

The Jade Emperor slowly closed his eyes; how long had it been since he last slept?

Drop by drop, blood fell to the ground, and consciousness began to slip away swiftly.

Yet at this moment, the Jade Emperor felt the return of a familiar power.

In a daze, he seemed to see countless people standing before him.

Those were the ancient Heavenly Emperors, leading the Immortals there.

"Someday, a Saint will descend."

The man, noble and pure in white, smiled and said:

"If such a day comes, and you behold such a person."

"Then cede the place to him."

...Master.

The Jade Emperor thought: I've finally encountered him.

"Sun Wukong..."

The Jade Emperor murmured: "This world, I now leave to you."

To you who will bear the curses of the Three Realms, how will you govern this world?

"Let me see your methods..."

Embracing the anticipation for change, the Jade Emperor drifted into slumber.

Upon awakening, the Three Realms might have transformed.
