The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 412: A Story

The sky was draped with a bright radiance, shrouding the mountains within thousands of miles.

Tens of thousands of Wanling people floated in the air, together creating the blazing Spiritual Diagram.

"Immortal, is the Great King really still there?"

The Bull Demon King looked at the glowing patterns in the sky and asked Immortal Zhen Yuan with some concern, "Could the reconstruction of Wanling City encounter any mishaps?"

"If the wise brother is not present, the data of Wanling City will vanish from the Spiritual Diagram."

Immortal Zhen Yuan replied, "In that case, Wanling City naturally cannot be rebuilt."

However, up to this point, they had not discovered any anomalies with the data of Wanling City.

Though the Heavenly Dao became difficult to employ, as long as the number of people was sufficient, the Creation Skill could still be executed.

In theory, Wanling City could be rebuilt.

"Rest assured, we won't make this trip in vain."

After saying this, Immortal Zhen Yuan looked around curiously, "Where is Daji? Where did she run off to?"

"She went to receive people."

The Bull Demon King answered.

In the night, Lady Earth Flow led a group of people across the Tongtian River.

Daji stood on the shore, watching the convoy and seeing many people with wounds all over their bodies following behind.

"Who are these people?"

Daji asked.

"People from the Heavenly Taoist Sect we met on the road."

Lady Earth Flow replied.

With the disappearance of the Heavenly Dao, the various branches of the Heavenly Taoist Sect crumbled upon a single touch.

Ao Luan's words invigorated the Wanling people of Huaguo Mountain, but they were of little use to the followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect in the Four Great Continents.

Lady Earth Flow led these wounded followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect seeking refuge.

Although they were not Wanling people, Daji and others still welcomed them.

The charm of the Fox Fairy was so astonishing, yet along the way, those followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect were not drawn to her, their faces filled with dullness.

"Why do you all look so disheartened?"

Daji asked on the road.

"The Heavenly Emperor is dead, we can no longer use spells."

Someone answered, "There's no longer any meaning in the existence of the Heavenly Taoist Sect."

Daji tilted her head to one side, somewhat puzzled.

"Do you believe in the Heavenly Dao just for the spells?"

She asked.

No one answered.

Only a boy said, "Isn't the Heavenly Taoist Sect about power?"

"Of course not, the Heavenly Taoist Sect was established to transform humans into Wanling people, and Wanling people at the beginning had no powers at all."

Daji replied.

The boy looked up at her, "Sister, are you an awakened Wanling person?"

"Mhm."

Daji nodded.

"Can you tell us the story of the Wanling people?"

The boy asked.

"Sure."

Daji flipped a strand of hair behind her ear, "In the beginning, Wanling people were just ordinary humans, without any powers..."

She began to recount, how the initial Wanling people learned skills, built cities, and created Spiritual Objects, all just to change their lives.

The predecessor of Wanling Heavenly Dao, the Wanling Immortal Path, didn't exist from the start either.

It was the culmination of all the technological achievements of the people of Wanling Country, with Sun Wukong mastering those techniques and reading through three thousand laws of Immortal Law, creating the Wanling Immortal Path.

"The Great King is extremely intelligent, without the wisdom of the Wanling, the Immortal Dao could not have been created."

Daji said, that power wasn't there from the beginning, there were countless mortals who dedicated themselves to Wanling Country, and in the end, even after the establishment of the Immortal Dao, they couldn't wield any spells and simply perished.

"Many of my friends were there, I watched them learn, grow, and then die..."

Daji snorted coldly, "Compared to them, you all are already a very fortunate group."

The followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect had never heard such a story and felt somewhat ashamed.

"The creation of the Immortal Dao was not easy either."

Daji continued to tell the story of the past: "When the Great King first established it, immortals and buddhas came to attack Wanling City..."

At the establishment of Wanling Immortal Path, the immense humiliation suffered by the people of Wanling was still fresh in everyone's memory.

They knew that the Immortal Dao did not come easily; it was the fruit of Sun Wukong's prolonged slumber.

But unknown to the believers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect was the heavy story behind those spells they came in contact with.

It turns out that the celestial immortals and buddhas had been preventing mortals from controlling power all along.

Realizing this, the followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect clenched their fists in anger.

"This is the story of the Wanling people, as well as the story of the Great King."

Daji finally said: "The Great King will not die; what he faces now is just another repetition."

"But we can rescue the Great King..."

The Fox Fairy revealed a smile and said, "Now we have you, and many more brethren. We will not repeat the mistakes of the past."

The followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect were captivated by that smile, their hearts once again ablaze with passion.

"Right."

"That's correct!"

"We now have so many, many brethren!"

"We have no reason to fail!"

The followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect regained their spirit.

Lady Earth Flow watching this scene, could not help but feel joy in her heart.

"Did you record what was just said?"

She asked.

"It's recorded."

A little old man holding the Immortal Mirror stood behind her: "Lady, how did you know that the Fairy would say these words?"

"Instinct."

Lady Earth Flow replied.

Daji appeared narcissistic and self-centered, disregarding others.

But Lady Earth Flow knew her true nature was kind, comforting and encouraging others was a given.

However, she did not expect her to tell such a long story.

The voice of this most beautiful maiden of Huaguo Mountain had a magical quality, simple words that could inspire and her storytelling had an astonishing infectious power.

Lady Earth Flow was somewhat impatient.

"Quickly spread Daji's words through the earth."

She said to the little old fellow.

"This..."

The little old fellow hesitated for a moment: "The Heavenly Emperor's life and death are uncertain right now, I don't know if the other lands are willing to help."

"Just do as you're told."

Lady Earth Flow said: "They will surely spread the word."

Sun Wukong had not yet failed, Lady Earth Flow believed those lands and mountain gods weren't foolish; they would naturally know who controlling the Three Realms would be best for them.

The little old fellow, upon receiving the command, vanished into a puff of smoke.

Lady Earth Flow then turned her head back toward Daji.

"I should also be considered to have made a contribution this time, right?"

She was somewhat looking forward to the future reward from Sun Wukong.

The voice of the Fox Fairy indeed spread far and wide.

Throughout the Eastern Divine Continent, the ground was covered with scorch marks.

After hearing the voice of the Fox Fairy that came with the music notes, the followers of the Heavenly Taoist Sect silently picked up their weapons.

"It's not time to give up yet, let's go."

"Okay, let's go!"

They mustered their courage once again and stepped onto the battlefield.

"Is that Daji?"

Ding Huan rode on the White Horse at the forefront: "Her voice is really nice, I would really like to personally witness her elegance."

"I would like to witness the Heavenly Emperor even more."

The White Horse said, utterly captivated by the story of Sun Wukong.

With such comrades, such a Heavenly Emperor, how could the people of Wanling lose!

The new story of Wanling, the glory of Wanling—now is the time for more people to strive for it.
